Eh?

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 19/07/2019 19:47

Going to the cinema is fine :)

CaptainBrickbeard · 19/07/2019 19:47

That’s ridiculous.

PatrickMerricksGoshawk · 19/07/2019 19:47

What? Yes, of course! I’m assuming I won’t get to go again for months after the baby is born...

SleeplessinEastSussex · 19/07/2019 19:47

I have been a lot - I don't understand why you wouldn't

Nautiloid · 19/07/2019 19:47

Errrr...yes I did.
Why are they saying you shouldn't?

Thoughtlessinengland · 19/07/2019 19:48

Whut?

Lindy2 · 19/07/2019 19:48

What?
That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
Go and watch the film for goodness sake and tuck into some popcorn whilst you're there.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/07/2019 19:49

Who is saying you shouldn’t?!

JustTheCrowsAndTheBeef · 19/07/2019 19:49

Why on earth wouldn’t you?

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 19/07/2019 19:49

Yes of course you can who are these people saying you shouldn't?

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 19/07/2019 19:49

The only reason I've cut down on cinema trips is that I have PGP and find the seats uncomfortable. If you're comfy, go for it!

pannikin · 19/07/2019 19:50

How ridiculous! Why would you not?

flowery · 19/07/2019 19:50

Why? Do they force-feed you lumps of Brie at your local Cineworld?

blackteaplease · 19/07/2019 19:50

I saw the dark knight when pregnant with ds and the sound sent him bonkers in the womb. Maybe an old wives tale related to noise?

TinselTimes · 19/07/2019 19:51

I went to an imax once while pregnant and threw up - the staff said it actually happened fairly often, and that they thought it was something to do with the noise and the screen being so big and that maybe pregnant women were more sensitive to all that?

There’s also some evidence that exposure to very loud noises while in the womb can damage babies hearing.

So I’d be wary of imax or very loud films but otherwise wouldn’t be at all concerned.

SoyDora · 19/07/2019 19:51

‘Us pregnant women’ can do whatever we want. There are guidelines and recommendations in place for us to base our decisions on.
I have never heard anyone say you shouldn’t go to the cinema when pregnant and can’t for the life of me see what the issue could be.

Ginger1982 · 19/07/2019 19:52

How bizarre....🤔

kmammamalto · 19/07/2019 19:54

I thought this was an insane post then I just googled it and there is loads of stuff about the noise levels! I was looking forward to a visit myself when I finish work while toddler is in nursery and I get some precious time to myself before baby!
I'm still gonna go though, am sure dr Google is just scaremongering this time!

Angelinthenightx · 19/07/2019 19:55

They said it was the noise can unsettle your baby
Ive been to see mainly horrors in past times ive been pregnant they say not to go see them, ive just never heard of pregnant women not being able to go to the cinema.

I worked in a nightclub and lived above it throughout my whole pregnancy with DS. I don't think a cinema would cause any issues.

purplecorkheart · 19/07/2019 20:00

Your baby is protected by amonic fluid. I doubt the noise will have any effect.

MissMalone99 · 19/07/2019 20:01

I went to cinemas all the time with DS. I don’t think it will affect the baby at all

kiki22 · 19/07/2019 20:06

People used to believe that excitement stimulates the womb prob some throw back to then

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 19/07/2019 20:06

Mine each "sat" through an instalment of LOTR, that's bonkers
