I remember watching The Descent at the cinema when I was heavily pregnant with DS1. The adrenaline made him kick so much I thought he was about to coming bursting out of my abdomen like something from Alien Grin!

The first time I felt DS2 kicking was when I saw The Woman in Black at the cinema. It never occurred to me that the cinema was a bad idea, why would it be?

Dh took me to see The Road while I was pregnant. I don't recommend that. At all
I should not have watched this just after having DS2! Nor should I have read We Need to Talk About Kevin when pregnant...

I lived in another country years ago. I remember a cinema poster that said
FRIGHTENING FILM.
PREGNANT WOMEN NOT ADMITTED.

Bwekfusth · 20/07/2019 11:46

I remember going to the cinema when I was about 7 months pregnant, during a very quiet scene there was a sudden deafening noise, baby shat himself in there, all 4 limbs flailed by the feel of it 😆

Kanga83 · 20/07/2019 12:52

Yes you can go to the cinema! Of course! However I remember watching marvel at 36 weeks and baby would not stop kicking because of the noise that I ended up watching it standing up to be comfy. Try get to a decent cinema with big comfy seats though!

Oblomov19 · 20/07/2019 13:01

Who are these people suggesting such bollocks?

HeadintheiClouds · 20/07/2019 13:04

Baby no. 6 and you’re only worrying about this now? Did any of your other children suffer any adverse effects?

Angelinthenightx · 20/07/2019 15:25

We went to see toy story 4 & my baby moved almost the whole way through it big kicks aswell, im 24wks.
I did read a bit more into it & if u are in loud places like cinema etc alot it they say it could damage their hearing.

Never heard such nonsense. I went to the cinema lots throughout all my pregnancies, never thought twice about it.

BookBookBook · 20/07/2019 15:52

Who are the 'they' whose opinions you keep quoting and seem to take so seriously?

Is 'they' shorthand for 'random bollocks spouted on internet pregnancy forums frequented by those with poor SPAG and a belief in bump shape/cravings/passing birds determining the sex of your baby'?

Contraceptionismyfriend · 20/07/2019 16:37

Again I worked in a nightclub throughout my pregnancy. I'm sure if there were any evidence this would've been flagged to me.

Hoppinggreen · 20/07/2019 16:44

When I was pg I went to the cinema with a friend who was also pg, she was born in the UK but is from a different culture
She wouldn’t go and see anything action/horror related because in her culture it’s considered bad for the baby so we had to go and see a chick flick or similar (can’t remember what)
Anyway OP, it’s fine to go to the cinema- and watch anything you want!

Bumply · 20/07/2019 16:54

Some people queried me going to see aliens when 7 months pregnant, but that was because they thought it might upset me (?) and not because of any harm coming to the baby

WoogleCone · 20/07/2019 16:57

Well I ran a cinema while pregnant so hell, I must be ready to keel over!

Sounds like tosh to me, go enjoy your film!

User24689 · 20/07/2019 17:13

I went to a very loud green day concert when 24 weeks with DS and he's fine. Doesn't listen to a word I say but don't think it's related!

WomanLikeMeLM · 20/07/2019 18:51

Your pregnant not blind op!

AuntieAvocado · 21/07/2019 05:47

You should avoid loud noises (over 115 decibels) and low rumbling noises in pregnancy, as there’s a concern they could damage the baby’s hearing. But most films won’t have those anyway.

TwistyTop · 21/07/2019 10:14

It is correct that loud noises can damage a an unborn baby's hearing. The cinema is no way near loud enough. If you were on site during a rocket launch, or if you work in a Victorian mill in the loom room, then I would be concerned. Normal day to day activities are completely fine. Anything that is fine for your hearing is fine for baby, plus she's got more protection than you because she's inside your body so sounds are very muffled anyway.

gkeal3 · 21/07/2019 10:28

Yes! It's uncomfortable but it's fine. They do recommend on their website not to go to imax while pregnant, I think that's because of the chair vibrations-but again that's just a guideline. Enjoy the cinema whilst you can x

stucknoue · 21/07/2019 11:08

What??? Complete rubbish. I went clubbing and my baby bopped along to the music. She's a semi professional musician now!
