I do think the same & dont think a baby would hear it the way we do. im pregnant with baby no.6 & have went alot when ive been pregnant in the past & dont remember any of my babies moving more etc with the noise,i just thought this maybe was a new thing.

Tbf, I was concerned at the IMAX when I was pregnant with pfb DC1. I folded up my coat and held it to my belly to protect her tiny baby ears like a total lunatic Grin . DC2 and DC3 turned out fine with no such protection.

But yes, you can go to the cinema.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 19/07/2019 20:12

i just thought this maybe was a new thing.

Well when I went for my last midwife appointment she asked if we had any plans after and I mentioned we might go and see a film as we both had the day off. She said nothing so if the midwife thinks its fine then I would imagine it wouldn't be anything to worry about. I trust my midwife more than Dr Google.

Maybe cinemas are trying to dissuade people from smuggling snacks in disguised as pregnancy bumps?

Yeah id trust a midwife more than google, i need to stay away from google. I did lose a baby at 20wks so this does add to me being a bit crazy safe but yeah still going to the cinema just like to hear other mums views.

Dh took me to see The Road while I was pregnant. I don't recommend that. At all.

ohhdearyme · 19/07/2019 20:32

Hmm you watch tv at home right?

Breastfeedingworries · 19/07/2019 20:33

I had to get a seat with easy access to get out if I needed a wee Blush

But I went loads!!

newmomof1 · 19/07/2019 20:36

Baby number 6 and now you're worrying about loud noises? You'll be fine!

Ginnymweasley · 19/07/2019 20:38

I went to see into the woods when heavily pregnant with my dd and she loves musicals so be careful what you choose to watch Wink

MyDcAreMarvel · 19/07/2019 20:42

Am so sorry for your loss Angel.

melissa1215 · 19/07/2019 20:52

I've been lots of times, no harm to be done. Probably one of the only social things I can enjoy

CodenameVillanelle · 19/07/2019 20:55

Who is 'they' who says a cinema is too loud?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/07/2019 20:55

I saw the last Harry Potter when a week away from birth. That caused loads of kicking. I think the vibration does affect them, but not in a bad way.

MidnightMystery · 19/07/2019 21:01

Yes of course but beware if you have sciatica Shock

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 19/07/2019 21:30

Ive heard this but only in regards to the 4D type where the seats move etc.
Although, I was quad biking through sand dunes on holiday during pregnancy so I'm probably not the most cautious person Grin

blackteaplease · 20/07/2019 08:02

Loud noise and vibration can be felt by the baby but I doubt it causes problems.

There are two of us who have experienced this on the thread so it's not a myth. I also had it with ds2 in a thunderstorm whilst camping. Very loud thunder and instant reaction from baby in response.

AmericanLemonade · 20/07/2019 08:06

I saw one of the Harry Potter films in the cinema when heavily pregnant...I got stuck in the seat in the end and my ExH and DM had to heave me out together Blush

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 20/07/2019 08:09

I went at 35 weeks to see new Jurassic World movie. Wasn't going to miss it 😁 The dinosaurs I can assure you did not scare my unborn dd.

SnugglySnerd · 20/07/2019 08:12

Once I'd ruled out the pub and all the nice things I wasn't allowed to eat when pregnant the cinema was one of the only treats left!

Fatted · 20/07/2019 08:14

I went loads with DS1 back in the days when I still had my cineworld card. I probably went once at week.

I also went with DS2 although not as much because I had a toddler at that point too!

Personally, I don't like 3D films, they hurt my eyes. But that's the same when I'm not preggers. Apparently, children under a certain age aren't recommended to watch 3D films cos it's not good for the eyes. I'm only going off what a relative told me.

AudacityOfHope · 20/07/2019 08:58

I went to see a film before I went to be induced. It was my last morning of peace ever

MrsCollinssettled · 20/07/2019 09:03

My dd kicked for the first time when I was at a concert. I was there with my then boss who was a GP. Neither of us considered it an issue. Still can't decide if the kick was approving or disapproving of my music choice Grin

Everafter1 · 20/07/2019 10:04

Yeah I go. Last time I was there right enough it was so loud I could hear a sort of feedback noise and could feel the place rumble, it did cross my mind about it being too loud for the baby but had never heard not to.

WingBingo · 20/07/2019 10:12

I went to watch a Grand Prix at 6 months.

So very very loud.
