I'm so excited to start this thread. Looks like I'll be due 1st April from my ovulation day (28th July by last period)!

I'm absolutely over the moon after a MC in May.

Thank you @MindyStClaire very happy to be here, and congratulations to you :)

I popped out at lunch and bought a couple more tests, it'll feel quite reassuring if I see a bright bold line in a couple of days (mine was quite faint) and booked a doctor's appointment for tomorrow.

Feel constantly nervous/excited at the mo.

SMS36 · 29/07/2019 17:54

@BristolBear @Islandermum I have also had a few twinges in the lower right abdominal area, but they haven’t been consistent or very painful at this point. Wasn’t sure what to do about it, but I think a trip to the doctors sooner may be beneficial if only for the reassurance. Feeling very out of my depth in terms of things to look out for. These are normally the kind of questions I would ask my family/ friends but as it’s still very early, I don’t want to jinx anything by telling them. So grateful that you are all posting things; it’s really helping.

I just found out I'm pregnant due April 2nd after suffering a miscarriage in june. I'm so excited but also nervous as this is my first baby. In debating paying for an early scan to help settle my nerves or is this not worth it? Any help much appreciated.

Islandermum · 29/07/2019 18:20

Any ladies who have any twinges they are concerned about, I had an amazing experience at the EPU, they did a full internal scan and thoroughly checked both or my ovaries for abnormalities. If you are even a little concerned, you can call and refer yourself. Obviously they may not scan you before 5ish weeks but I am 5+4 and they just told me that they might not be able to see much but they will do what they can.
It has given me so much peace of mind and I can be sure that baby is in the right place and at the right size.
Of course, if you have abnormal bleeding, defo get yourself checked. Also, because it was too early to find a heartbeat, they gave me another scan in 2 weeks to confirm progression (even though everything looks perfect!). I am so glad I called and went, you won't waste anyone's time.

I am also having a private early scan (no point really other than the pictures now!) at 7 weeks.

Hi abbs1...I’m debating the exact same thing 😳

Islandermum · 29/07/2019 18:21

Also, I had an MC in may so this whole process has made me feel so much more relaxed!

Hi everyone! I found out yesterday that I’m pregnant. I think I’m 4-5 weeks judging by the date I started my period last month. I have been cramping last two days and have slightly pink discharge, anyone had this before? Going to GP this eve but would still love to know it’s not totally unusual, I’m so excited and also scared! (Also anyone else not able to stop shaking since they found out? I REALLY need to calm down)

SMS36 · 29/07/2019 18:59

@Islandermum. Thank you so, so much. Embarrassingly, I have never heard of this before, but there is one in my area so I will definitely drop in. Super helpful.

Timepoor · 29/07/2019 19:23

Hi everyone!

Checking on with an EDD of 3/4 for baby4. Feeling slightly nauseous which I didn't with my others, so I'm taking that as a good sign but I doubt I'll have much time to symptom spot!

I'm.another heading off on a family holiday next week for 2 weeks. Luckily I'm not a big drinker and I'm super picky about my alcohol so we won't take any gin or whisky and I'll persuade DH to break put the red or the rosé to avert suspicion.

MindyStClaire · 29/07/2019 19:44

I would definitely recommend the early scan if it won't put you under any financial pressure. I had one at 8 weeks last time and found it hugely reassuring. I'd looked up the stats and knew that if a heartbeat was found at that stage and everything was as it should be, the chance of miscarriage was very low. It really put both of our minds at ease.

eskimod · 29/07/2019 20:42

Hello! I'm actually due 29th March by my calculations but not confirmed yet , it could be early April.

I'm 29 and expecting my first baby. I'm currently 5w 4d.

My OH is 28 and we've been together 10 and a half years, due to marry in July 2020.

We began trying after realising we were both nearing 30. We have friends that are trying and they were struggling so we thought we could struggle too (we're over weight). Anyway, we were only TTC for two cycles, I got a BFP on our second go! That was a shock and we feel incredibly lucky!

I've always been adamant that I didn't
Want any children or especially not yet so people will be so shocked! I'm still getting my head around it!

I haven't had any nausea yet. I'm getting cramps on and off and have some since a few days past ovulation. My breasts are super tender but that's all the symptoms for me up to now.

I've got a booking appointment but it's not until the 29th Aug, when I'll be 10 weeks. The lady on the self referral line said I have to take extra folic acid so I'm waiting for my prescription for that. I hope 4mg of folic acid is enough until it's ready...

Congratulations to all the April mummies on this thread! I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences

eskimod · 29/07/2019 20:52

@KikiOB I have the same symptoms and I'm due 29th March! My first pregnancy and I have no clue 😂

J43mum · 29/07/2019 21:13

@eskimod ahhh I'm sure your be fine ! How exciting for you both , I'm only suffering from backache at the moment and tiredness , I might book a 8 week scan , can I ask how much more folic acid you might have to take ?

eskimod · 29/07/2019 21:38

@J43mum I'm apparently supposed to take 5mg but you can only get it prescribed unlike the general 4mg you can buy from shops.
I'm starting to consider getting an early scan because these cramps are worrying, they feel so much like period pains!

WBWIFE · 30/07/2019 06:28

Congrats!! Can I join? Due 28 March 2020 with second baby but bound to go overdue..

Massive shock again as both times fell pregnant on contraception but very happy

Tashy777 · 30/07/2019 09:29

Also due to have a April 2020 baby! Found out at about 2 weeks and 5 days after having a 'feeling'. Apps and stuff say I'm due end of March but I've 99% certain I know the date I fell pregnant and have worked out my due date to be 8 April 2020! Have my first midwife appointment in 2 weeks - what should I prepare for this? She said it's an hour long..

Wotuser · 30/07/2019 10:15

Congratulations all!
I’m 4+3 today and due 5th April according to my app.
Is anyone considering an early scan? My job means I’m likely to be in a position where I need to start telling people early, and although I know a good early scan is no guarantee of a successful pregnancy, I think I’d rather have some reassurance things are looking ok before letting people know (the news will spread like wildfire!). Just trying to work out the best time to book one and realise this is probably a stupid question but does 4+3 mean I’m week 4 or week 5?

WBWIFE · 30/07/2019 10:40

@Tashy777 it doesn't matter the date you fell pregnant. The midwife will work it out form the first day of your last period

singme · 30/07/2019 10:46

@Wotuser congratulations. Not sure exactly what you need to know- but would say 4+3 means you have completed 4 weeks and 3 days so for someone with a 28 day cycle you would be 3 days late for your period. So you are halfway through week 5.

My app (Flo) initially put my weeks as “current” rather than completed so it say Week 5 Day 2 when I was 4+2. I changed it because I thought it was confusing and it’s the “completed” weeks that the medical folk and midwives will use.

For the purposes of the scan I would say four weeks + days etc as I think it gives a better idea.

Hope that helps and I’ve not just babbled a lot of stuff you already know!

Wotuser · 30/07/2019 10:54

@singme thanks so much, that’s really helpful. It was my app (natural cycles) that had me confused as I was thinking I was 4 weeks but noticed it was talking about week 5. If the professionals will say 4 weeks then I’ll stick with my original interpretation!

MindyStClaire · 30/07/2019 10:54

Tashy777 that's a big difference in your dates, are you sure you're counting it right? Your midwife etc will count from your LMP but will adjust if you have a long cycle etc.

No need to prepare anything for the long appointment, although it is useful to know about family history on both sides as you'll be asked about that. Also, if you're suffering with sickness or light headedness, bring drinks and snacks. I didn't and she did the bloods at the end of the appointment when my hunger was starting to kick in. I fainted. Blush

hopefulandgrateful · 30/07/2019 11:09

Hi everyone, congratulations to all of you on your BFPs! We found out this morning at 3+4 that we are expecting around the 10th April. Super early so won't be telling anyone for a while and grateful I found this thread! We have been trying for 21 months for #1 and this was our 3rd month of clomid. Never actually thought past the test after so many negative ones so can't stop shaking. Absolutely no work is getting done today! 💜

Tashy777 · 30/07/2019 11:27

@MindyStCaire my last period would mean I was around 3-4 weeks pregnant when I did the rest, however, I took a clear blue test that tells you the weeks and it was only 2-3 weeks. I went to the doctors and he also took it from my LMP but asked if I had taken one of the tests and said I will be only 2-3 weeks which fits in with the date I believe I fell pregnant. I'm sure once I speak to the Midwife and get my first scan they will be able to confirm 100% but I did count 40 weeks from he date I got my test that said 2-3 weeks which is how I figured it out? it is my first baby so I may have done it wrong, but I think there's only around 1 week difference between my date and the doctors date :)

MindyStClaire · 30/07/2019 11:34

Ah ok. I've never used a digital, but I think they count from conception, so 2-3 weeks on the test would be 4-5 weeks based on LMP (i.e. how your midwife would count). At 2w 5d the fertilized egg would have only just implanted and it's extremely unlikely a test would be positive, especially a digital which isn't that sensitive.

I suspect you're a couple of weeks further along than you think you are, congratulations Grin

NewtothisFBK4921 · 30/07/2019 11:35

@hopefulandgrateful I can't stop shaking either! Not since Sunday. Trying to concentrate on work is so hard. Massive good luck to everyone x
