Hello,

Me and my partner are planning a gender reveal party for August.

Does anyone know of any good places/websites that we can get good decorations and supplies from in the UK??

What's your budget like? Would you consider making things yourself?

trotesio · 08/07/2019 20:28

Mumsnet hates gender reveal parties.

NetHuns is that way babe -->

Winnyp6174 · 08/07/2019 20:28

@Sheep90 yes I would consider it, but don't know where to start! 😩

There are lots of things that are fairly easy to make that could make quite a nice project for you and your partner. What about making pom poms for decorations? Super easy and can be made whilst watching TV! Pinterest is a great place to magpie ideas

  1. It's sex. Male or female. Not gender.
  2. Urgh. Naff. No-one cares as much as you think they do (or, indeed, at all). People who love you are happy that you are having a baby. Unless they are utter twunts, they will be equally happy that you are having a boy baby or a girl baby. So why do you need to "reveal" anything?!
Mammalian · 08/07/2019 20:34

I don't know anyone who's ever had one but I'm assuming you could buy pink/blue balloons anywhere, make muffins with pink/blue icing...ummm not sure what else

Russell19 · 08/07/2019 20:37

Aldi have lots in at the moment

Winnyp6174 · 08/07/2019 20:37

So balloons basically?

Winnyp6174 · 08/07/2019 20:40

@Morgan12 yeah basically, aswell as plates, decorations, little fun games. Just to make it a bit of fun really

@DuchessSybilVimes I understand where you're coming from completely and respect your opinion, however this is something me and my partner are doing and are really looking forward to our gender reveal. ☺️

I genuinely don’t understand them. I saw some clips on YouTube of American ones with the couples doing things like throwing a baseball and the other one hitting it, with a shower of blue confetti coming out. They were shrieking with excitement and, seemingly, surprise. So who knew the sex in order to make sure they had the right colour confetti. And what would have happened if it was pink? Glum faces and disappointment.

It’s a binary outcome and no right thinking person is really going to be disappointed either way. Just don’t get it.

Smurfy23 · 08/07/2019 20:50

Theres stuff on ebay that you can buy- plates, balloons etc

thumper59 · 08/07/2019 20:50

We've recently had one. It was lovely - everyone was so pleased and it was nice to have a bbq and everyone together. They do loads or boy or girl stuff on eBay just search gender reveal on eBay x

babysharkah · 08/07/2019 20:54

Grim.

Winnyp6174 · 08/07/2019 20:57

@Smurfy23 @thumper59 oooo thank you! I'll have a look now. @Smurfy23 we're having a bbq too! Perfect weather for it aswell at the minute xx

Horrendous American imported fad that seems to have leaked into the UK somehow. Just buy a big cake and eat it at home together, saves having lots of annoying people round.

Also, it's sex, not gender - unless you already know how your baby is going to identify before it's even born?

Idc what sex mine is as long as it doesn't vote ukip.

DC3dilemma · 08/07/2019 21:02

We sort of had one for DC3...not exactly a long standing plan but at that stage we had two boys aged 7 and 4, so both old enough to have lots of excitement about the baby. After 20 week scan when we knew all was well, and that we were having a daughter (the reveal wasn’t for us), we had a little tea party with a lovely big cake which revealed the sex -icing inside was pink. It was just a little bit of fun for the kids, a countdown to cutting the cake for a big reveal. One grandmother was there. A wee video sent to other close relatives. The irony is we wouldn’t have been able to do it if DC3 was a boy; we’d have been trying to console the boys instead who were determined that it must be a sister. So the fact we were having a tea party was a reveal in itself!

Lougle · 08/07/2019 21:05

I had a sex reveal party at the hospital. I pushed the baby out, then looked between their legs.... Ta-da! News spread by text message (old).

crustycrab · 08/07/2019 21:07

It's gender. There are 2. Don't get the party thing myself either. Hardly a massive surprise when the odds are 50/50.

Whatever floats your boat though OP!

Bellatrix14 · 08/07/2019 21:10

She’s not invited you lot, has she? Honestly 🙄

I’d try Etsy if I were you, and there’s always lots of pink and blue themed stuff about. I’d probably go for lots of white decorations though. Good luck!

Lougle · 08/07/2019 21:20

@crustycrab

"It's gender. There are 2." It's sex, actually.
