@Bettythecat I've just got his little pics to put up then I'll attach them! Might get a few when I'm home actually of the furniture. I'm really impressed with it! Aw it's so exciting, I sat putting away and folding all his clothes for about 4 hours last night 🥰🥰

Delilah7 · 06/08/2019 15:58

@thumper59 thank you!! Ahhh organising a wardrobe is so exciting. Glad you're well. X x

@Bettythecat hehe thank you it's nice to have something rewarding when he's in pain with colic and reflux all the time x x

Bettythecat · 06/08/2019 16:11

@Delilah7 you've probably had all the tips and recommendations under the sun and I'm very wary giving any recommendations having not had any babies myself yet(!) but I'm reading a book called the Happiest Baby (think it's that) which is supposed to be for parents with babies who have colic. Might be worth a look?

Bettythecat · 06/08/2019 16:13

P.S. how early is too early to start buying baby clothes? Asking for a friend 😳

MrsEG · 06/08/2019 16:45

@Bettythecat Sounds like you had a fab time in Paris! Ha I know what you mean about eating; DH has had to get used to lunches at 11:30 or dinner bang on 5 as I cannot wait!
Don’t worry too much - you’re in the second trimester now (hurray!) so all signs point to you starting to feel much better anyway. And you’ll get a bump soon enough; I think it varies for everyone, but can pop out as early as 16-17 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be feeling much more pregnant soon!
The idea of telling people, who and when, I find super odd as well. Only our families know at the moment but after the 12 week scan what do I do? Send a group email??

@PippaPug ah that’s fab, great to hear from it being tried and tested aswell!! I have got a bookmarked offer at the moment for a full Mountain Buggy twin travel system, so will check to see if it goes in the sale around the Bank Holiday! Good about on the warranty too, never even though to check that!

@purplefig We got it all from Howdens, it’s a massive fridge freezer; at the moment it’s just full of ice lollies haha, but will be ideal for loads of Tupperware! Glad to hear you’re feeling good today!

@Fuiseog I do recognise your name from the boards! 20 weeks already, wow! Congrats :)

@Delilah7 Oh those pics are adorable! Sorry to hear he’s still suffering with colic :( Really hope it eases up for him soon!

@thumper59 Hope you had a great holiday! Bet it feels fab coming home to a shiny nursery! Agree with other posts that I’d love to see some pics when it’s finished!!

@Bettythecat Weirdly I had this chat with my sis today as she emailed me a link to a Mothercare sale. I was like ‘what do I even need?!’ And she said don’t get loads of clothes as these are like the #1 gift people will get you, especially if you have a baby shower. By all means buy anything you see and like! But she said she got clothes in abundance gifted to her, from friends with kids as hand me downs too. It’s so tempting though when you see something cute haha! I say treat yourself (and baba). She did also say buy as many muslin cloths as you possible can, you can never ha e enough!!

I feel bloody awful today; clearly got a bit cocky feeling good and eating veg yesterday. I’ve had to WFH to nap over lunch, and have eaten nothing but bread since I got up. My heart is going ten to the dozen as well so I wonder if there’s some growing going on in there today! I’m just absolutely goosed. I’ll be in bed very early tonight!

Delilah7 · 06/08/2019 17:14

@Bettythecat ooooh no no ones recommended that too me yet so I haven't even looked?! What's it like? X

@MrsEG thank you!! Yeah me too x x

thumper59 · 06/08/2019 17:25

For the ladies worrying about bumps, this was taken last week at around 26+4,and I would say I've only just really popped around the 25-26 week mark, so don't worry about bumps taking a while! It also felt like I had a saggy belly for ages and was podgy lower in my stomach, but he kicks and wriggles right under my ribs now 🥰

thumper59 · 06/08/2019 17:27

@MrsEG aw I had a wonderful time Thankyou, except picking up a cold on the flight there so I've had that all holiday too 😖. Hope your well! I will get pics once his frames are up xx

stormtrooperjulian · 06/08/2019 17:38

@Bettythecat I would have been so upset with my DH if he'd told people before I was ready! I'm glad your DH is making it up to you.
I found it way more awkward telling people than I expected to. I felt like I was just announcing 'we had successful unprotected sex' then waiting to be praised, took me ages to get the words out every time

@Fuiseog welcome!

@MrsEG I've bought all our baby clothes apart from a few little things second hand, you can find some really good deals on Facebook marketplace. I thought there was no point spending loads and buying new when baby will end up wearing something for 10 minutes then pooping on it!

@thumper59 lovely bump, you look amazing!

MrsEG · 06/08/2019 17:48

@thumper59 You look fabulous! Pregnancy really suits you! Oh bless you, hope the cold is on it’s way out now!!

@stormtrooperjulian Second hand is ideal, my sister and 3 close friends have all had babies in the past 2 years so I’m keeping fingers crossed for bags full of hand me downs!!

Bettythecat · 06/08/2019 18:46

@stormtrooperjulian well he had always planned to tell some of his close friends (which I was OK with) but then I got a message from this woman I barely know to congratulate me. When I asked DH he said "oh yes, All (her husband) was sitting next to him when I told him". I was so upset. He's been so apologetic about it since though.

@thumper59 you look so lovely!! Gorgeous bump and love your hair too.

@Delilah7 here's the link to it www.amazon.co.uk/Happiest-Baby-Block-Crying-Newborn/dp/0553393235/ref=mpsa11?keywords=happiest+baby&qid=1565113134&s=gateway&sprefix=happiest+&sr=8-1

My sister in law gave it to me as she was recommended it. It basically debunks a load of myths about colic and then talks about the "5 S's" which when done properly are supposed to calm all babies with colic. No idea if it works or not but might be worth a go. It's an easy read anyway.

@MrsEG haha yes exactly- so weird sending messages. Weirdly now that I "can" tell people I've found I don't really want to!! Perfectly happy to keep it to myself a bit longer!! I know you're right about clothes although I would imagine you also get given a load of random stuff in weird sizes that you might not choose? I saw the cutest little striped knitted zip hoodie today in Gap with ears which would work for either sex- so tempting!! I've heard that about Muslins too- will defo stock up. Aldi had some nice packs at one point but haven't seen any in there for a while!

I'm feeling tired today and also had a massive craving for salt and vinegar crisps- had to do a stop on the way home for Discos! Could also be because I'm greedy though 😂

purplefig · 06/08/2019 20:12

@Delilah7 Hi Ethan! :)

@MrsEG ahhh that's just the type of thing we're after. Sorry to hear you're having a rough one, I think you've just got to take each day as it comes. (And award to the most generic advice goes too....! Grin ). With clothes, we've got a big bag of our best friends second-hand newborn stuff. Everything else we're planning to get second-hand at baby events / facebook marketplace / ebay bundles. I just cannot justify spending £15 on a romper in mothercare that is ultimately going to be worn for a couple of months, during which time it'll likely be subjected to poo/wee/vom etc.

@thumper59 you've definitely got the pregnancy glow!

Re: telling people, we told immediate family first. And then a few days later we made a list of people to call/message and tell them personally. Then we posted something on FB. I find the latter a bit cringe-y and very 'of the times', so we really debated about whether to or not. In the end we decided that we've got some events coming up that'll no doubt end up on there so I'd rather it didn't come out awkwardly via that.

Have a good evening all!

@Delilah7 he is just beautiful! 6 weeks already?!? Doesn't seem possible!

@thumper59 you look absolutely incredible!

@TrashKitten10 that's exciting! Gorgeous pram...

thumper59 · 06/08/2019 23:19

@stormtrooperjulian aw Thankyou, so kind 😊

@MrsEG it is going away now thankfully! Aw Thankyou 😊 I'm lucky I've had it fairly easy so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

@Bettythecat Thankyou, your so kind! 😊

@purplefig @MrsR16 Thankyou ladies that's so kind of you! Some days I feel much less glowy than others 😂😂 xx

thumper59 · 06/08/2019 23:19

@TrashKitten10 ooooooh! It's all so very real now!

PippaPug · 07/08/2019 07:52

@thumper59 - You look wonderful with your bump!

@Trashkitten10 - it’s becoming all very real now isn’t it?! Won’t be long till your baby will be snuggled into it!

I’m starting to be quite anxious right now, yesterday I just didn’t feel pregnant at all and I’m just desperate for a scan to reassure me, my symptoms feel like they are easing up, still have nausea but not constantly like I did at the beginning, my boobs aren’t as sore, but nipples are....and I haven’t been sick...I think I’m going to go round in circles till I have my scan on Saturday Confused hope everyone is having a less panicky day then me!

Delilah7 · 07/08/2019 08:03

@MrsR16 I know!! Baffling how quick they grow. Feel like he's been here forever 😂

Bettythecat · 07/08/2019 08:11

@PippaPug all I can say is I could (and did!) write your exact post multiple times during the early weeks!! I was obsessed with my symptoms and constantly tracking when they got less and convinced myself it was bad news. Well- I've had lots of scans and at each one baby was totally fine and everything was progressing normally. Also- no-one ever asks about symptoms at scans or appointments so its definitely not a sign of anything. It's easier said than done but try to focus on each day and quiet any panicky thoughts- I promise it gets less scary. How many weeks are you now?

cupcakesandglitter · 07/08/2019 08:14

@Delilah7 six weeks?! He's beautiful 😭❤️

@thumper59 omg you look beautiful, definitely have pregnancy glow!!! Xxx

@PippaPug I feel exactly the same as you today, I don't feel anything really apart from sore nips when I touch them. Is there any chance you could do your scan earlier for peace of mind? You only have three days to go though xxx

Ahhhh @TrashKitten10 how exciting!!! Xx

PippaPug · 07/08/2019 08:32

@delilah7 - Sorry I missed photos of your son, he is a little sweetheart!

@Bettythecat - Thank you for the reassurance, just the last 48 hours or so I have got myself into a bit of a pickle about it all and can’t quite shake it off....it’s so hard isn’t it?! I know if I was at home I would of got another HPT and tested just incase 🙈 I’m glad it’s not a sign of anything, I’m so impatient for Saturday now!

@cupcakesandglitter - how many weeks are you? I’m 9 weeks and 4 days, 10 on the dot when I have my scan. I am still on my honeymoon, we fly home late on Friday and then got the first available scan on Saturday, so not long to wait, just got to get through the horrendous travelling day!

cupcakesandglitter · 07/08/2019 08:43

@PippaPug I'm 5+5 today - I have a scan next week at 6 + 3 to hopefully see a heartbeat, but it can't come soon enough. Not long to wait at all for you so either I guess, just try and make the most of your honeymoon and keep yourself distracted? Xx

purplefig · 07/08/2019 09:15

@TrashKitten10 ooo exciting!! What did you go for in the end and why? (I am utterly perplexed by the world of prams/pushchairs/whatever they're called).

@PippaPug sorry to hear you've having an anxious one. Just try and remember it's perfectly normal for symptoms to come and go, but I know it can be scary when they do. In the first trimester I would feel grim one day, and pretty much normal the next. Try and stay away from the tests if you can, they'll likely only add to your anxiety. Also I've just seen you're 9 weeks and 4 days - I think I'm right in thinking that often symptoms peak around week 9 and can then start to taper off as you make your way into the second trimester. I felt worst week 7 - 9, and then things started to get better.

How're we all doing today? I have a fun new symptom...itchy boobs! Yaaaaaay. Also I've heard about pregnancy constipation, but has anyone had the, er, opposite?!

Oh also, I know a few people on here have been a bit down about putting on weight / changing body shapes etc, and I felt pretty similar last week. Well I've got to say, ordering some clothes that actually fit (hello maternity dungarees) has been a game changer. I feel so much better in myself.

Fuiseog · 07/08/2019 09:43

@MrsR16 That's exciting! Nice to be in exactly the same spot as someone! Hope it's going well for you Smile

@Delilah7 Your son is just gorgeous, what lovely pictures!

@MrsEG Thanks Smile The first twelve/thirteen weeks were the slowest of my life I think, but it has certainly sped up now! I'm long past the every-day-is-beige-food stage and mainly have my appetite back, but I do still have them every so often where all I can tolerate is something like plain rice! Sadly I still can't even think about garlic. How far along are you?

@stormtrooperjulian - thank you!

@TrashKitten10 - So exciting! I also got my pram yesterday, and I think we got the same one! The Uppababy Vista?! We got it in Loic, which is just bright white. Initially I ruled that out in case of looking grubby too easily, but my friend has the same in a light colour and the covers seem to be liquid repellent for a lot of stuff (Diet Coke spill never showed up), most else comes off with a wipe and anything stubborn has come off when she's unzipped the covers and thrown them in the machine. So I was happy then! Other than my scans, it had definitely been the pregnancy highlight for me because it's just so real. And I love it! Feel a bit weird to love a pram so much 😂

@PippaPug That happened to me too and all turned out fine. My morning sickness didn't go away till around week 15, and even then came every so often till... Well, now. But once in my 9th week I had an odd day of no symptoms. Couldn't enjoy it at all and booked myself for a scan! By the next morning I was vomiting again, but it was the start of having occasional days of not being sick so I kind of learned to appreciate them rather than fearing them. It wasn't possible to do that at the start when I was still so nervous though. I hope you feel more relaxed soon.

Totally agree with @purplefig - maternity clothes have been a revelation.

MrsEG · 07/08/2019 10:31

@Bettythecat I have been absolutely obsessed with salt and vinegar Discos the last few weeks! Cant get enough of them!!

@purplefig DH wants to do the whole social media announcement thing; if he wants to then that’s fine, takes it away from me! I like your idea though of making a list of people we’d want to tell personally first though. I may just steal that!
I’ve had a mix of bowel issues, a little of both! Apparently it’s fine, and quite normal :) And yes I couldn’t agree more on the maternity clothes, I feel comfortable once more!

@Fuiseog I so agree - I am 11 weeks today and sometimes it feels like time has stood still. One week has felt like a lifetime! I’ve had quite a lot of early scans though as we found out at 6 weeks I am having twins :)

@TrashKitten10 What a lovely pram! Bet it feels real now!!

@PippaPug I know others have said it too but my symptoms also come and go, I had a day recently where I actually felt wonderful! You won’t feel the same every day. Please try not to worry; you’ll have that scan in just a few days!

I met with my twin consultant this morning and she was absolutely ruddy lovely. My main takeaway from it all was that as my twins are DCDA (non identical) I have the least complicated type of twin pregnancies which is fab. They won’t let me go over 37 weeks but if twin 1 is face down I can go for natural delivery - if not though it has to be a section for safety. But also, 6 in 10 twins come earlier than 37 weeks (!!!) so I will have growth scans also every 4 weeks. She was telling me to discuss practicalities of working with my boss as apparently from 28 weeks I’ll be enormous, like a ‘normal’ full term woman and will need to really think about driving etc. So hopefully I can work from home after that! Crazy, lots to think about but she was so lovely and gave me lots of leaflets haha!
