@daisiesandpeonies omg I'm glad I'm not the only one 😂😂 I'm hopefully applying for a promotion soon so I can't tell work just yet, I can WFH quite a bit so I'm thinking of just doing that when I have scans etc. Ahh it feels so surreal to even be on this thread with you all!!! X

Am I right in thinking @Fivebyfive2 and @BostonFern both went to Cherish? (Told you I lurked 😂) I'm thinking of going around 7 weeks for a reassurance scan? X

Fivebyfive2 · 27/07/2019 15:30

@cupcakesandglitter, yes I went to Cherish at 9 weeks and they were absolutely lovely! We were thinking of having a scan around next week at 17 weeks, as our NHS one has been moved back to when I'll be 21 weeks. But will probably hold out! Try not to worry, I had cramps on and off until about 8 weeks. Xxx

cupcakesandglitter · 27/07/2019 15:41

Ahh perfect @Fivebyfive2 I'll definitely go there then 😊 tbh I'm not panicking tooo much, my mum is though - I have no other symptoms other than slightly sore boobs and she doesn't think that's normal 😶 xx

daisiesandpeonies · 27/07/2019 17:24

@cupcakesandglitter mums eh 🙄 mine's actually been quite good so far with the pregnancy but she's had her moments in the past over my wedding, decorating new house etc. - sometimes they need to ssshhhh rather than air every last thought and opinion!
Please could someone explain what Cherish is? Sorry to be thick...

Fivebyfive2 · 27/07/2019 17:42

@daisiesandpeonies, you're not being thick at all! They're a small clinic in the west mids area (they might have other branches?) that do ultrasounds/fertility scans etc. We went there for our reassurance scan as they're a bit more medical than some of the places we'd looked at.

Had a lovely day with the family for grandads 90th! Sooo much food! Everyone knows our news by now so were all asking us questions. My dad, 2 uncles and godfather were all mildly obsessed with getting me to sit down 😂🙄 Bless!

BabySquid · 27/07/2019 19:11

@cupcakesandglitter many congratulations hun it's nice to see you in this thread. Btw the first 10/11 weeks go slow as heck!! But saying that, I'll be 12 on Monday and it feels like it's now gone quite quick!! Also, maybe just make up a few symptoms to keep your mum at bay!

My mum has just been obsessing about me running from her house to my car coz it's chucking it down! Trying to give me her rain coat or a brolly so I didn't get cold or have to run 🙄

Shopping was almost successful, Leeds really needs more shops with maternity sections! There was H&M and that was it!!
Where the heck do you all shop??? All I want are some shorts that aren't too short! (My thighs are chunky and I can't cope with the chub rub!!)

cupcakesandglitter · 27/07/2019 20:20

@daisiesandpeonies that's definitely like my mum! I put up with it during the wedding but this is the perfect time for me to set some boundaries 😂 x

Awww @Fivebyfive2 how lovely 🥰 xx

@BabySquid thankyou 😊 I know 😩 we're thinking early scan at 7 weeks, luckily I have my birthday and anniversary coming up to keep me occupied (ish) - I've stocked up on tests too for my sanity 😂 oh bless her 😂 I'm a big thighed gal, I hate short shorts - M&S are apparently really good for shorts that beat the chub rub without showing your butt cheeks 😂 XX

BostonFern · 27/07/2019 21:56

Huge congratulations @cupcakesandglitter! 🎉
I had lots of cramping in the first trimester-try not to worry (easier said than done I know!). I went to Mums in Solihull (although Cherish would be more local to me), Mums have been amazing, we've had several scans and our NIPT test with them. We had our first scan at 8 weeks, it really reassured me.

cupcakesandglitter · 27/07/2019 22:19

Thankyou @BostonFern 😊 okay so cramping seems to be normal, I'm gonna try and relax!! Oh fantastic!! I can't believe you and five are so local!! X

GemmaJen · 28/07/2019 05:51

Congratulations #cupcakesandglitter 😊 - the early weeks are definitely the most nerve wracking. We had several early scans and they ready helped me relax.

Week 33 now and been decorating like mad this weekend, hoping a bit of paint isn't going to do any harm 🙈 Got my gtt results back yesterday- we were referred after a growth scan - luckily clear, so just expecting a large baby 😬

BabySquid · 28/07/2019 07:15

@cupcakesandglitter funnily enough I took screen shots of my apps daily advice yesterday after you'd said about cramping... this may put your mind more at ease..

Thankyou @GemmaJen xx

@BabySquid ahh that's fantastic, thankyou!! I woke up at four today needing to pee with bad cramps but I'm relaxed about it today, I'm kind of glad actually I can feel something going on! Xx

Can I ask you ladies, with your tests, how quickly did they progress? I've just done a FRER with FMU (did pee at 4am though) and its pretty much the same as yesterdays... I was expecting it to be darker? X

MrsEG · 28/07/2019 11:32

@cupcakesandglitter Stop peeing on sticks! Line progression is a myth. Especially in the early days as the HCG levels are still low. Put them away - you have a positive test, you’re pregnant! You’ll torture yourself looking for darker lines. I completely understand the anxiety in those early weeks but as others have said, go for an early scan and that will put your mind at ease :)

MrsEG · 28/07/2019 11:34

Sorry I’ve been so rubbish at keeping up with the thread this weekend - I’ve felt a bit crap and getting the jitters about my scan tomorrow! Been shattered the last couple of days. Hope everyone is doing great and fab to hear from you @GemmaJen not long for you now!! Don’t worry about a big baba - my niece was 8lb 15oz and my sister coped with it like a champ!!

cupcakesandglitter · 28/07/2019 11:46

@MrsEG I'm just so scared of having another CP/MC 😭😭 how far along are you now? XX

MrsEG · 28/07/2019 11:55

@cupcakesandglitter Totally understandable, but HPTs won’t provide any reassurance and my personal experience (believe me I’ve been there!) is that they cause more worry and anxiety staring at the lines. My consultant basically banned me after my positive and said ‘not getting your period is the sure sign you’re pregnant!’

I am 9+4 today, I’m under consultant care so have had 2 scans already luckily, and have another tomorrow. Think then it’ll be my 12 week scan which is mid-August. Xx

MrsR16 · 28/07/2019 11:57

@cupcakesandglitter honestly lovely, put the HPTs away! You had an awesome line to start with! Listen to @MrsEG 😊 xx

daisiesandpeonies · 28/07/2019 15:15

@cupcakesandglitter here's FRER and clear blue taken on the same day - as you can see the FRER is lighter even though in theory it should be much darker, especially as it was taken in the morning. They're completely random. A line is a line, stop taking tests! Perhaps you'd benefit from a trip to the GP/Nurse for confirmation. Anyway I do understand, I did a digital test which came up positive and DH still didn't 100% believe it until he saw the pregnancy on a screen 😂

@BabySquid coming to this a bit late - I got some really nice longer shorts from Next a couple of months ago, looser linen-y ones with an elasticated back so think they will be bump friendly. I am a big thigh/bum/hip girl and not so keen on letting it all hang out like I'm on Love Island 😂

cupcakesandglitter · 28/07/2019 15:21

Ahh @MrsEG how fast has that gone!!! How exciting ❤️ @MrsR16 @daisiesandpeonies okay I'll put them away 😂 I'll give the doctors a call next week and see where I go from there!! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 28/07/2019 18:05

Hi gals! After our nice day with the family yesterday we had a boring 'adult' day today! Did food shopping, cleared our utility room and box room, chucking loads and making a 'tip' pile and a 'charity shop' pile. Next task over the week is the bigger spare room, which is to be the nursery. Absolutely dreading it... How 2 adults with no kids and no major hobbies have this much crap is a total mystery 🤔

We also had a quick overview of baby stuff we have so far which was nice. Have made dh be strict with me about not buying anymore clothes! We (read, I 😂) got a tad over excited after the 12 weeks scan 😛 Nothing ridiculous, but as people will buy us stuff etc, we definitely don't need to get any until nearer the time!

Hope every one has had a nice weekend? Xx

AngeloMysterioso · 29/07/2019 00:13

cupcakesandglitter I got a Clearblue digital bfp at lunchtime on the same day that I got a FRER bfp with fmu that was so faint I thought it was an illusion...
In fairness, I did continue to do an HPT every day for the rest of the month after that, but that’s just because I’m bonkers.

purplefig · 29/07/2019 10:15

@cupcakesandglitter huge congratulations - what incredible news! You must be so elated! Echoing what a few others have said, I also experienced mild cramping early on. Apparently it's everything just stretching out and totally normal. Re: tests, I took an IC and a FRER and then I stepped away from the tests. You'll drive yourself mad looking for progression.

@Fivebyfive2 glad you had a lovely day celebrating your granddads 90th - sounds lovely. Sweet about your male relatives too - I was outside in the sunshine doing DIY with my dad all of Saturday, wish I'd have been encouraged to sit down haha! I love a good clear out - once you get into the swing of it you'll be fine, I think it's starting that is the hard part. Marie Kondo's book is quite inspiring if you need some motivation?

@BabySquid Not maternity, but I've heard really good things about Next's boy shorts - could just try and size up and see if that works? Failing that, it's online really - ASOS have a pretty big selection. I just got some lovely second hand ASOS dungarees from eBay.

@GemmaJen what colour paint have you gone for? And were you and your partner big babies?! I was talking to a friend the other day who told me a friend of theirs just have a 13 POUNDER!!!!

@MrsEG how did the scan go today lovely? Thinking of you and the twins!

I had a lovely weekend - we saw friends, finally wrapped up DIY stuff, and went on a lovely dog walk. I've got my 12 week scan this afternoon, though am actually 11+4 (though that could change), followed by my trip to eye casualty which sounds alarming! My vision has cleared up, but I've been advised to go still and have everything checked out. Have a good Monday all - any nice week plans?

MrsEG · 29/07/2019 11:45

@purplefig Everything went fine! Meet twin 1 and twin 2 :) You can see both sacs in the first pic but twin 2 is a bit further back so they did us two separate pics! We’re discharged from the RMC clinic now and meet the consultant at the twin clinic next week.

Hope your scan goes well today!

BostonFern · 29/07/2019 11:47

@Fivebyfive2 glad how had a nice time on Saturday- completely get you on the accumulation of 'stuff' and having to clear it out-that was us last week! We've managed to empty out and get the new flooring down in what's going to be the nursery, but we've temporarily moved into that room whilst my DP decorates our bedroom (hopefully we will be back in our own room tomorrow night and the nursery can then just be used to store baby's belongings!). Poor DP has been working so hard, and we want to sort out and decorate the living room before we go back to work too!

@purplefig You must be so pleased to have finished the DIY! Good luck for your scan and eye appointment today too.
