How is @Crossfitgirl doing?

BostonFern · 20/07/2019 17:22

@Fivebyfive2 we had one at 17 weeks, mostly because that was at the end of an extremely stressful time at work for me and I kind of wanted the reassurance everything was OK. They measured and looked at all the key organs as they would in the 20 week scan and as everything was spot on I think that also reduced my anxiety going into the 20 week scan too.
We've also started on getting the house baby ready today- first day of the school holidays and we've been to Ikea and B&Q, our only Ikea purchases were gifts for others but we got the flooring for the nursery in B&Q.

@Delilah7 Ethan is just so adorable!

@MrsEG Sorry your having it rough at the moment, I know each day seems like a lifetime at that stage too. Have you tried ice lollies? I found they helped a bit x

I'm so relieved to be on a six week break now, feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to rest and start to get baby ready. We've had a busy week, lots of close friends from work are moving or starting new jobs so we haven't had a 'normal' day/night since Monday. Luckily yesterday's celebrations were in the day, I got into bed at 4.30pm slept until 8.30pm, stayed in bed and watched a film, and was asleep again by 11.30pm! DP did the same too (he's going to need his rest to get ready for all the decorating he's got to do over the next 6 weeks 😂).
Baby is really going for it with the kicking now too! DP can clearly feel our little boy kicking each night now, and when I'm in the bath the kicks make tiny waves in the water. I love taking time to just lie quietly and feel him moving.

Delilah7 · 20/07/2019 18:41

@daisiesandpeonies thank you Hun. I'm biased but he is too me! How are you? Xo

@MrsEG how are you?! Thank you. Could it be iron levels low? Not sure about the weeing so much though! Xo

@mrsof20118 I know doesn't seem possible haha. How are you? X

@BostonFern hehe thank you 😍 glad you're ok and having a well earned break! X

Fivebyfive2 · 20/07/2019 18:57

@Bostonfern, hi sweet, glad to hear you've broken up and baby is wriggling away in there!

My left boob feels so weird this evening, kind of sore and almost itchy, but the other one is fine?! We're off to see Spiderman later, I'll probably by sat there poking at it in the dark 😂

Crossfitgirl · 20/07/2019 21:15

Hey @mrsof20118 thank you for checking in :-) I had gone off mumsnet for a while, as I found I was just spending too much time on my phone and getting a bit obsessed rather than enjoying the pregnancy, bits of time I have with DH and trying to get everything done at work and at home. Also just couldn't keep up with the thread and I always feel bad if I don't reply to everything.

I'm currently 37+2, started mat leave last week, and just trying to enjoy my last few weeks before the imminent arrival!

I completely did not anticipate just how hard the final few weeks would be physically, and have had to slow down massively and have finally bitten the bullet and decided to call it a day with crossfit for now. I just can't do it. Turning in bed and getting my lower half dressed are like marathon tasks now, and my little bump is wriggling like crazy all the time now, we can actually feel little lumps that are possibly feet or knees, it's still so amazing every time!

So less than 3 weeks til my due date, I am so excited and actually looking forward to labour as I just can't wait to have my baby in my arms!

How is everyone else doing? Where are you all up to, and more importantly I guess I'll have to scroll back and see if I've missed any more BFPs??

I can't believe it's been nearly 9 months since I was posting on here, pregnancy test in hand, crying and getting psyched up to go downstairs and tell DH!

Welshpugmomma · 20/07/2019 23:07

Hi ladies wanted to say hello, not sure if you'll remember me but I saw the thread and had to post as there's so many familiar names!

I used to post on the TTC, but found out we had mfi, since then we managed to fit in a private cycle of icsi, and got the amazing bfp news last week! It's obviously very early but so excited! I can't believe some of you have already brought your babies into the world! Congratulations ladies and once again so nice to see all your names on this side of Mumsnet... :)

MrsEG · 21/07/2019 08:21

@Fivebyfive2 @BostonFern
Thanks ladies, I have to have a real word with myself sometimes as I hate complaining over something I’ve wanted so badly for so long. Just really feeling rotten and being so high risk I feel like I can’t do anything. I’m all over the ice lollies! Soleros smoothies are my fave at the mo :)

@Delilah7 I hadn’t actually thought about low iron and I’ve been anaemic in the past - might have to force some spinach down!

@BostonFern Enjoy your break! Ah how lovely, I bet that’s mesmerising just watching that sat in the bath!

@Crossfitgirl Not long now!! I’m not allowed to do any exercise at all and hating it, so well done you for sticking with your CrossFit for as long as you did! So pleased to hear you’re on mat leave now so you can really slow down and take it easy :) Good luck for the next few weeks!

@Welshpugmomma Congratulations xx

Delilah7 · 21/07/2019 10:12

@MrsEG give it a go! I was low on iron and it defo made me feel most of what you are now!

Fivebyfive2 · 21/07/2019 15:17

@MrsEG, don't ever feel guilty for feeling bad/like you need to vent! It's physically impossible to love 100% of being pregnant, even when it's something you have always wanted so badly! You do you, whatever gets you through and hopefully soon you'll be feeling a bit better. We're all here!

OK, I may be going mad here... I'm just over 15 weeks, so I know it's probably too early, but I think I may have just felt the tiniest movement?? I'm at my mums, sat by a fan and I could swear I felt the faintest little flutter, on one side of my little bump (the side that feels 'heavier' if that makes sense?!) I'm fairly tiny so midwife did mention I might start feeling things a bit sooner... Any chance it could be or am I over thinking? Xx

Delilah7 · 21/07/2019 16:26

@Fivebyfive2 I felt one at 16 something weeks I think so it could be babe! Xx

BostonFern · 21/07/2019 16:43

@Fivebyfive2 I'm sure I felt the odd flutter at 15 weeks so you could well have felt something!

Fivebyfive2 · 21/07/2019 16:52

@Delilah7 @Bostonfern, aaahh maybe I'm not crazy then 🤔🙂 Dh thinks baby was enjoying the breeze from the fan 😂

stormtrooperjulian · 21/07/2019 17:34

@MrsEG we planned to save up but then the house renovations went 15k over budget and we wanted a last proper holiday before the baby arrived so goodbye savings 😂 possibly not the smartest move but it was an amazing holiday

@Delilah7 he’s gorgeous! I can’t believe he’s a month already.

@daisiesandpeonies I’ll be going back to work and DH will be a SAHD... this way around suits both our personalities much better!

@Crossfitgirl good to hear from you! Not long now and you’ll have your baby in your arms. Has it got a lot harder now you’re so close to the end? I’m getting more breathless than I used to, makes me feel really unfit which I hate.

@Welshpugmomma congratulations!

@Fivebyfive2 I felt my first movement at bang on 15 weeks

Had a nice relaxing day today. Made scones and a crumble, sat in the garden for a while and cleared out the chest of drawers we’re going to put the baby clothes in.

daisiesandpeonies · 22/07/2019 08:56

@stormtrooperjulian know a couple of people where dad stays at home, works really well for them! I'm a bit anxious about the mental impact of staying at home actually, I'll have to take on some projects or volunteering to keep a foot in the adult world.
@Fivebyfive2 citizens advice is a really good idea! Hadn't thought of that. They're pretty much opposite my work so might take my contract over there.
@Welshpugmomma congratulations! Well done after a difficult journey. How long have you been waiting for your bfp? It was 14 months for us.

purplefig · 22/07/2019 11:05

Happy Monday everyone! How's everyone doing? I'm 10+4 today and while the nausea is way less dramatic that it was a few weeks ago, I am feeling absolutely shattered. Even walking through town...I am so slow. It just feels ridiculous!

Anyway - after a stupidly packed first half of the year, things are calming down a bit now and I had the loveliest weekend at home pottering. We sorted out the front garden, went out to dinner with my parents, went on a lovely woodland dog walk and I had a proper clean too.

Nothing much exciting baby wise to point out. Last weekend we were in Ikea and picked up the highchair that everyone raves about. My 12 week scan is next Monday and I can't wait to see him/her again.

@Delilah7 he looks so happy in those photos! Glad to hear getting out for fresh air is doing wonders for you. What sort of places are you going to? And how're you feeling a month in to motherhood?

@Fivebyfive2 ahhh love that your DH wants to test the monitor on the cat - so cute! And it sounds like you could definitely be feeling the start of some movement. How exciting!

@MrsEG sorry to hear you're feeling so rough with it. If it's any consolation, I'm exactly the same re: carbs and lack of activity. And I don't have the excuse of twins! I did some gardening on Saturday and it properly wiped me out. Also I couldn't agree more with @Fivebyfive2, it really would be impossible to love every single second of pregnancy. Just because you complain about some of the very tough symptoms, doesn't mean you aren't 100000% overjoyed to be pregnant. How many weeks are you now? I've found since turning 10, the nausea has started to decrease a bit and I think I have a bit more energy than the early days of the first trimester. Bring on the 2nd I say!

@BostonFern It must be amazing to feel him kicking, I can't wait for that. Ooo a six week break sounds perfect for baby prepping! What flooring have you gone for in the nursery? Back when we bought this house I really wanted to put wooden flooring down in the spare room, as we were TTC and knew it would eventually be a nursery. But DH (unusually!) got his way and it's carpeted now...I've told him he can have great fun cleaning various bodily liquids out of it!

@Crossfitgirl I've missed your essays! But I don't blame you for taking a break. I've just deleted the mumsnet app off my phone as I could feel myself getting a bit addicted. You have done absolutely incredibly to stay at Crossfit as long as you have, honestly I'm in total awe of you. I bet it'll prove amazing training for pushing your baby out! 3 weeks to go - it's so exciting! I'm 10 weeks and a bit and really, really, struggling to do any exercise. I'm sort of letting myself off the hook until the second trimester, and then I'd like to get back into yoga and maybe do some swimming.

@Welshpugmomma congratulations on your BFP - what amazing timing!

@stormtrooperjulian one last proper holiday before the baby arrives, I think that's money well spent! Your Sunday sounds perfect - what a lovely day of pottering.

@BabySquid how was the wedding in the end?

BostonFern · 22/07/2019 11:12

@Welshpugmomma congratulations!

@purplefig we've gone for a laminate floor, hoping DP can start laying it tomorrow. We are three hours into clearing out the room and I'm already losing the will, I feel like I've made progress then I think about the built in wardrobe that needs clearing out and want to cry! DP has gone to get lunch for us, so I'm going to have a bit of a break I think.

MrsEG · 22/07/2019 11:13

@Fivebyfive2 Thank you, you’re too kind! I feel rubbish today, last night also I could barely eat dinner and had to have a lie down on the kitchen floor where it was cool 🙃 The nausea is getting quite intense. I’ll be 9 weeks on Weds so I believe this is when hormones reach their peak? Which I am hoping means I will come out on the other side fairly soon!! Annoyingly though of course my anxiety is constantly going ‘But shouldn’t I feel worse with twins?!’ - I can’t win! Next scan is next Monday so counting down the days.

@stormtrooperjulian You’ll be so glad the house is all done and that you had a fab holiday once baby arrives!! I’d love to get away this year but for the foreseeable I am not allowed to fly. Centre Parcs it is!!

@Fivebyfive2 Ah how nice you’ve felt some flutters! I remember my sister describing it as ‘like I’d farted, but on the inside’ haha - bet it’ll only be a few weeks now then before you’re really feeling stuff going on!

purplefig · 22/07/2019 11:18

@BostonFern a very sensible choice indeed - I am envious and certain we'll regret out stupid thick pile carpet! Just think - you've got 6 weeks to get cracking, so you don't need to get everything done today. Can you make a rough plan so you don't overwhelm yourself / leave plenty of time for nice bits too? Lunch and a break sounds like a very good idea!

@MrsEG Oh that sounds so crap! 7 - 9 weeks was the worst for me, and now at 10+4 the nausea really is improving. So not long until you'll be in the second trimester. I know it feels like an age when you feel that shit though. Big hugs.

MrsEG · 22/07/2019 11:29

@purplefig I’m finding I’m ravenous in the mornings and then can’t stand even the smell of food in the evenings. I’m in bed before 9 every night at the mo! I hear you on the exhaustion too - I’m so tired just from walking the dog. Even walking to the local shop I sometimes wonder if I should just drive... can’t wait to get some energy back!
Enjoy the 12 week scan next week - such a milestone!

purplefig · 22/07/2019 11:40

@MrsEG yep - my bedtime is around the 9 o clock mark now too. I read for a bit, and then crash out. I've also gone from getting up at 7am every day to 8.30am (I work from home thankfully). I think the fact is, it's no small thinking knitting together a human (or two in your case) from scratch. It takes it out of us and I think to some extent the best way to cope is to accept where we're at and ease up where possible. But yes - I can't wait until a short amble into town no longer feels like a marathon.

daisiesandpeonies · 22/07/2019 12:19

@MrsEG don't know why they call it morning sickness - evenings are always the worst!🤢

BabySquid · 22/07/2019 12:21

@purplefig the wedding this weekend was beautiful... the hotel room though, not so much! We had to be moved and it was still a disappointment. But the actual wedding was lovely and loads of my friends were there so it was great to see everyone. And they didn't notice at all that I wasn't drinking which was great. Btw I'm also feeling very worn out after barely any exercise... walked up from the sea front in Scarborough to our hotel (quite a lot of steps tbf) but I was 100% worn out and it took me so long to get my breath back. & @MrsEG I thought the nausea was getting better for me, 11 weeks today, but this morning I feel just shocking!! Bloated, seriously green and horrid tastes in my mouth. Took 5 full mins to eat a rich tea 🤢😢

MrsEG · 22/07/2019 12:24

@daisiesandpeonies They really are aren’t they?! After about 4/5pm I’m good for nothing. Hope you’re keeping well!

@purplefig I’m having weird nights at the mo, bed by 9 and fast asleep but I wake each night between 2-4, and then I have to be up for 6.30 for my injection. So I’m like a bloody zombie - I also get to WFH quite a bit though and often have a nap on my lunch break!! It’s like I’ve aged 50 years overnight haha!

Crossfitgirl · 22/07/2019 13:46

@stormtrooperjulian @purplefig definitely underestimated just how hard the final few weeks would be, but so grateful to get to this point complication free. I've been to an aqua natal class at the local pool this morning which was lovely and gentle, I definitely can't do any crossfit now. Everything I have to do so slowly now, and I get breathless and have to sit down just after getting showered and dressed! I would definitely echo advice I was given, get as much as you can done in that magical 2nd trimester! I had so many productive plans for mat leave, but I'm now having to force myself to take rests, to not plan too much into any one day, and to take naps if needed.
On the plus side, I've bought in a shit load of ice cream for the heat wave 😂
@mrsEG just read back that you're expecting twins!! Omg!!!! Congratulations and what a surprise that must have been!

purplefig · 22/07/2019 14:58

@BabySquid glad the wedding was great - always a good excuse for a catch-up. And great nobody noticed about your drinking either. My plain soda waters have convinced plenty of people! Sorry to hear you're struggling with exercise too, guess it's pretty common in these early stages.

@MrsEG oh wow - that does not sound like a fun schedule. At least you'll be used to it when the twis arrive - night feeds will be a breeze Wink.

@Crossfitgirl That sounds so full-on, thanks for the advice of utilising the 2nd tri. Can't wait for the onslaught of energy! I've just signed up for a pregnancy yoga course, hoping that will encourage some movement.
