no matter what your views or intentions regarding breastfeeding, I challenge you not to be moved by this amazing film...

I really don't know but I am sure that if you put in your birth plan that was what you wanted... maybe someone here knows more about it.

It would be so nice to think that they would allow time for this - so many people struggle with b/f and I wonder if allowing things to happen so naturally, so early on would help.

MadEyeMisdee · 25/07/2007 22:48

that was wonderful, thak you for posting

whomovedmychocolate · 25/07/2007 22:52

Of course you can myjobismum - but you will probably need to explain what it is. If you just specify skin to skin contact on the chest and no obs till you have fed the baby you'll get there.

It is a lovely video. I had to wait 45 minutes to feed DD because of my emergency cs and I really regret it (still feeding her now though so it is not a show stopper if you do get delayed!)

wow - that's lovely.

It wasn't suggested to me to feed DS1 until 12 hours after he was born - not surprising we never got on with breastfeeding really is it?

mouseman · 25/07/2007 22:56

LOL - actually being PG would make things easier!!

My ante-natal group was shown a breastcrawl video. It was the last thing onmy mind at the time after complications but i certainly intended for it to happen.
I was amazed when i saw it though, really lovely.

Great video have already seen it.

DD2 was born and put straight on my chest where I pointed her in the direction of my boob and she latched on whilst still attached to me via her placenta. I think she stayed there for the next 6 months . She never lost an oz, went from 9lb 3oz to 10lb 1oz in her first week and was never jaundiced. I think this was due to my experience of breastfeeding with DD1 I just let her suck as long and as often as she wanted too and BFing was really easy compared to the tough time I had with DD1.

oh that was gorgeous!
I was shown that by my independent midwife when ds1 was born (he is now 13 yrs old)
I insisted on it with dd and with ds2
I assumed most that were kene on bf knew about this and was shocked to find it is not well known
it is truly fabulous although mw not impressed as ds2 was born just after she was due to knock off and I made her stay until after he fed and she could then do ehr obs and sort out stuff

Best thing?

Never needed a nightlight for feeding

ds1 did the riverdance
dd did the saturday nigth fever
ds2 - merely the can can (disappointing given his superior weight)
