Hey,

I thought it would be nice to set up a group for those suffering with anxiety at whatever stage of pregnancy.
I’m approaching 14 weeks and my anxiety has been up and down, particularly as I had a loss last year.
I’m currently having therapy and trying to stay active. Eating and drinking well...

Any tips/thoughts/rants welcome. xx

@Kate3150 just an update to say scan went well. We’re having a girl 💗 which OH is chuffed about. I’m going to have another scan at 30 weeks privately.

mininionsteve · 05/11/2019 14:20

May I join? I'm 14+4 and have one Ds. I had a missed miscarriage before ds1 and a miscarriage at 7 weeks in May this year. I am finding this pregnancy so tough.

Had some spotting at 11 weeks went for a scan all was well. Had my 12 week (at13) scan last week all fine then got the call to say I was high risk for Down syndrome and to go in for the SAFE test. That evening I had a bleed. Fortunately the hospital scanned me again on Friday, all was well they could see a reason for the bleeding told me to get my cervix looked at in case of ectropion.

Just come back from the gp who told me that in all her 20 hrs she had never heard such a thing and that pregnant women don't get them and that she wasn't going to look even thought that's what I'd been told to get done. I got upset and she eventually booked an appointment with the gp who deals with gynaecology type issues. She did offer to get in contact with my midwife over my anxiety!?! Oh and that she had two bleeds when she was pregnant and it was just implantation.

Sorry that was long, I'm just so stressed, waiting for these test results and terrified I'm going to bleed again and that the next time won't be so lucky. Am I wrong in thinking the dr was being a bit of a cowbag ?

Kate3150 · 05/11/2019 15:01

@RC1985- OMG!!!!!!!! That’s so exciting yay yay yay! So happy for you. How are you feeling? Was she being a good girl so all measurements could be taken?
@mininionsteve- Oh my goodness you poor poor thing. To have all this stress on top of already feeling anxious about things 💜. Im no medical expert but I have heard of cervical ectoption so am astounded she hasn’t.
Is your midwife aware of your anxiety? I think it’s so important they know as I get something called white coat syndrome. So any medical appts send me in a tizz. My blood pressure always comes up higher so they know to take this into account when doing BP checks at midwife appts.
Sending you a massive virtual hug poppet 💜

Thank you @Kate3150 I haven't talked to my midwife as it wasn't too bad, but if the bleeds keep happening then it's going to get worse I think. I'm seeing her at 16 weeks when she's back from leave so il bring it up then.

RC1985 · 05/11/2019 17:32

@Kate3150 thank you. No she was doing somersaults and moving around lol. They did manage to get everything eventually. They gave us loads of free images and little cards to put them in as we had a student in with us and she had a practice after the experienced sonographer had been through things.

@mininionsteve sorry to hear about all your issues. Can’t believe your GP just dismissed it, that would make me upset too. I hope everything turns out ok for you and we are always on here to be a listening ear.

DaisyMay25 · 05/11/2019 17:41

Hoping I can join too?
I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and been off work sick from 17 weeks due to anxiety.
I'm u set the perinatal mental health team, done a six week course on wellbeing and mindfulness too.
Nothing has helped, it's fit to the point now that every time I leave the house I have an anxiety attack.
There is no trigger, I'm not worried about the birth or anything baby related it's just my hormones not having a good time. I've had anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember (diagnosed officially 12 years ago)
I decided that I can't cope anymore so will be starting sertraline at the end of the week following a call with a psychiatrist earlier today

Kate3150 · 06/11/2019 14:46

@DaisyMay25- Hey my love! Of course you can join us, I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. Well done you for seeking out the help you need that’s such a huge step 💜. I also believe a lot of my anxiety has been hormone related throughout the pregnancy. It’s scary as you can’t “see” the rise of hormones in you, just the effect it has mentally and emotionally.
Do you know what you’re having? Is this your first bubba? X

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 06/11/2019 16:30

@Kate3150 I tried to deal with it best I could, I really didn't want to go on medication but I think it gets to a point where it's the best option. Exactly, you don't expect the hormones to hit as hard as they do.
I'm having a boy, it is my first just trying to sort out my hospital bag and it feels so weird!
Is it your first? x

Kate3150 · 06/11/2019 17:03

@DaisyMay25- You have to do what’s right for you and hopefully going on the meds will help.
Ohhh your having a boy as well. I’m also team blue 💙, trying to agree on a name has been tricky so we’re waiting now until he’s here. I’m
having an elective c section due to previous surgeries so buying all really glam bits for hospital like big pads and disposable knickers 😂. X

@DaisyMay25- How you doing? X

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 16/11/2019 18:24

@Kate3150 not great, I'm having awful side effects to the medication and just feel agitated all the time. They have said they'll consider inducing me earlier than planned (39 weeks) if my mental health is still bad at my next scan (5th December) I'm thinking I might suggest 38 weeks to them, I'm sick of feeling like this and just want my body back.
Finished my hospital bag though!
How're you?
You got a date for your c section yet? x

Kate3150 · 16/11/2019 18:37

@DaisyMay25- Bless you 💜. Unfortunately that’s the problem with meds they take a while to kick in and “settle” before you start to feel the benefits from them. It sounds like your medical team are being proactive in options to get you through the next few weeks which is great.
Well done on finishing your bag! You’ve done more than me...
I’m booked in on December 10th.... I’m feeling quite nervous about it now but can’t wait to meet my little man and eat what i want and have a snooze on my back!! X

Hi, I'm 20 weeks and my anxiety is at a high this past week. I just can't help but worry about everything. We had a scan last week and everything was perfect but I'm already a bad of nerves thinking of all the things that could of happened since then ☹️ I think I'll feel much better when I can feel him moving but until then I'm just trying to keep my anxiety down as much as I can but it's hard somedays

RC1985 · 16/11/2019 20:33

@balloon60 I’m 22 weeks Monday and I worry about things too. I have started to feel my baby move but it’s like a twitch than a kick, like popcorn popping in my belly. I’ve downloaded the kicks count app to start keeping track of movements I feel so if anything changes ill know. I’m also going to have a private scan at around 30 weeks to put my mind at rest. But it’s also good to chat to people on here too as you know you’re not alone.

RC1985 · 16/11/2019 20:34

@Kate3150 not long now 😬 don’t forget to let us know how you and little one are when he arrives.

Raindancer411 · 17/11/2019 07:28

Wondered if anyone else has been told about an anxiety help run by midwifes in their areas? We have one in my area in Kent called Pranx that I may ask to be referred to. I self referred to talking therapies but still waiting for their consultant to come back with a plan to deal with my general anxiety. I have a feeling my anxiety towards the end of my pregnancy will be worse so pranx as well maybe helpful.

Kate3150 · 17/11/2019 12:19

@Raindancer411- Hey, that sounds like a great service. Haven’t heard about anything like that in my area. How have you been doing 💜!?
@RC1985- HEY! Oh I know, 3 weeks to go 😬... cannot believe it. Will definitely keep you updated. How have you been? Have you booked for a private scan? X
@balloon60- Its so hard, I’ve also had great scans etc during the pregnancy but still not relaxed. I think it does get a taaad easier when you have regular movements but still a worry!! Sending big cuddles my lovely 💜

Raindancer411 · 17/11/2019 14:57

@Kate3150 Not to bad so far if you don't count the constant feeling sick and not able to stand or walk without gagging

RC1985 · 17/11/2019 20:36

@Kate3150 3 weeks, it’ll be here before you know it. I’m ok, she hasn’t moved as much today so now I’m a bit worried. I think it might be because she’s been so active the last few days and she’s not today. If she’s still like it tomorrow, I’m phoning the hospital.

Kate3150 · 19/11/2019 16:49

@RC1985- Are you okay? How have movements been? X

OP posts:
RC1985 · 19/11/2019 17:55

@Kate3150 they’ve picked up. I just don’t think there’s a pattern at the moment. Sometimes she’s active in the day and other times at night. It’s generally about 10 movements a day. Are you ok?

Kate3150 · 19/11/2019 18:47

@RC1985- Good good pleased to hear it. It’s such a difficult period as you start to have movements, but they’re not really consistent as in a pattern is yet to form. I remember it well!!!
I’m okay thank you.... feeling a bit fat now 😂. I’m dreaming of starting my spinning classes again.
Are you looking forward to Xmas? I’m thinking of
putting the tree up this week for something to do lol xxa

OP posts:
RC1985 · 19/11/2019 20:39

I haven’t really thought about Xmas tbh. Someone else asked me that today too. It’s too early for a tree lol, not before 1st December, it’s like someone at work asked if we could put Christmas songs on. Maybe I’m just a Scrooge- ha ha.

She’s been much more active tonight. Other half could even feel her kick Smile

@Kate3150 Not to bad today, thanks. Bar the constant sickness and belly ache from wind and when I eat 🙄😓 You?
