Hi all just starting a lil thread for anyone out there who is due or over due!!
I just turned 40 weeks there on Thursday first pregnancy!! No regular signs of anything happening yet just braxton hicks contractions which get me all excited and then fade away.
I bought an exercise ball yesterday which seemed to bring sort of braxton hicks on last night but no sign of any further developments over night. Also I declined a sweep on Thursday with the hope baby would do their thing kinda regret not getting it done now it just freaks me out a little but next thursday if babys not here i'll go for it.
Im not losing the plot yet I could wait another week but would love if baby came of her on accord!! Anyone else in the same boat? Xx

Yep. Me! 40W yesterday. Been having BH for the last month which don't turn in to anything. Think they might have been stronger last night but nothing happened!

Got a sweep booked in for middle of next week but really I just want it to happen!

Been for a long walk today in the hope that it sets me off...frustrated now and want baby to come - know it could be another couple of weeks really!

Have been grilling everyone I know how they felt before going into labour in case there's any symptoms I can spot but doesn't seem to be anything obvious!

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 08/06/2019 17:46

I turned 39 weeks yesterday.
Had a sweep last week and again this week but nothing has happened. I'm booked in for induction on Wednesday.
This is my second child - with my first my waters broke at 38 weeks so I haven't been this pregnant before Hmm
Think I lost my mucous plug yesterday but haven't felt any bh even though I was 2cm dilated when I had the sweep last week

Jellybum2019 · 08/06/2019 18:04

I am 41+5, had no signs at all! Have had two sweeps but cervix not low enough for the midwife to do proper sweeps. Apart from a stomach ache today for about half an hour I’ve had nothing! No loss of plug or twinges or aches! Booked in for an induction tomorrow evening, really gutted but have had a few days to get my head around it and I’m about as ready as I can be. Just went through my hospital bag again to make sure I’ve got enough for a potentially few days stay if the induction process is slow and we brought some extra snacks and drinks today just incase.

ryanreynolds · 08/06/2019 18:31

Quite jealous of those who can get sweeps before 40W - they wont do them here before that!

@Jellybum2019 at least the end is in sight. Maybe a booked induction is what baby needs to get a move on?!

I am getting more and more unpleasant symptoms so really need baby to arrive!!

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 08/06/2019 18:55

@ ryanreynolds
My last baby was 9lb 6oz at 38 weeks, they think this baby is bigger so that's why they are doing the sweeps before 40 weeks. They say if he's out before he gets to 10lbs the birth will be 'manageable' Shock
You are nearly there now anyway, fingers crossed for you!

@Jellybum2019
Best of luck for tomorrow x
I am the same with buying snacks, I keep buying them, then eating them, then buying more. My dh thinks I'm mad but for some reason I'm worried I'm going to be hungry when I go into labour, although that should be the least of my worries!

ryanreynolds · 08/06/2019 19:15

@Cantthinkofausername1990 aha makes sense. EFW this week was 9lb for this one...but as they're happy for me just to crack on for now Hmm...will see what the MW says!

I just find the lack of control the hardest...and the sitting and waiting! DH getting equally as bored!

Murfs · 08/06/2019 23:59

Best of luck tomorrow @jellybum2019. Hopefully baba makes an appearance!! Guys does the sweep do much if the cervix isn't ready/ effaced or whatever its called? Thats kinda my excuse for wussing out. Anyway exercise ball tomorrow lots of bouncing!! @ryanreynolds My hubster is getting bored with the waiting too I think he wouldn't mind baby making an arrival before the weekend is out but I dont see it happening!!

I was 40 weeks on Friday.
My dd was officially 16 days late (but only 12 days late by my dates) so i was half expecting to go over due but hoping to have this one between 39 and 40 weeks.

I haven’t had a sweep either although others with same due date have had 2 and had their baby by now. I was supposed to have one Monday but head had only just started to engage so I think midwife thought there was no point. She’s quite anti intervention anyway. I’m booked in to see her tomorrow and she said she’d do one then. They didn’t really work for my daughter but think they are more likely to with 2nd babies.

Anyway @ryanreynolds I’m doing all the same things as you. Looking for labour symptoms and asking people how they felt ( i have had lots of cramps on and off but then nothing) and eating all the snacks I bought for the birth and midwives (planning home birth).

I’ve started taking caulophyllum hoping it will turn the cramps into proper labour and I’m planning to have an acupuncture induction on Tuesday.

I’m feeling under a bit of pressure to not go too overdue with this one as I’m 40 and the hospital like to induce over 40s on due date.
I don’t want to be induced but especially not at my local hospital but I feel like it’s going to be too late to change hospital now if I have to go for an induction.

LivingOnAPear · 09/06/2019 06:18

I’m finding myself getting really jealous of people who have all their babies at 38 weeks as they don’t have to go through this overdue phase. It sucks. I’m the 4th one in my family to have a baby this year and they were all born by 38 weeks so now I’m getting constant messages from family in case I’ve had the baby and not told anyone. Angry

AnotherRubberDuck · 09/06/2019 06:19

I'm 41+1. My other 2DC both came spontaneously at 39 weeks!

Like most of you I've had on-off BH/contractions which all fizzle out to nothing.
Had a sweep on weds, midwife said cervix is looking good for labour and predicted I'd have it on Friday. It's Sunday now and still nothing Hmm

LivingOnAPear · 09/06/2019 07:45

@anotherrubberduck it’s so frustrating when midwives do that. With my dd the midwife predicted I’d have her at 38 weeks. 4 weeks later I was still waiting. At least she said it looks like your cervix is ready. Fingers crossed something happens today.

ryanreynolds · 09/06/2019 08:41

Morning ladies, hope one of you went into labour overnight?! Not me!

Quite achey after a long walk yesterday but not in any of the right places!!

Now to think of something to fill today...currently bouncing on my ball...since when did this count as entertainment?!

Murfs · 09/06/2019 09:38

@ryanreynolds no labour last night Sad But we decided to make the most of this extra weekend we weren't counting on and we did go to the cinema! Went to see the Elton John film got a good reaction of baba lots of dancing (kicks) lol!!
I booked for a pregnancy massage today aswell (sher why not) may aswell make the most of this borrowed time!

Mrskaykay · 09/06/2019 11:01

40+2 today. Nothing yet, just baby dancing in my belly. I'm fed up of people calling and texting to check though. If there is a next time I am just saying baby due in Winter/Summer! 🤣

ryanreynolds · 09/06/2019 12:34

Ha I was saying to DH last night that it feels like we're wasting these last few days of just us @Murfs but I'm too knackered to do anything exciting!!

Me too @Mrskaykay such a mistake to tell people actual due date!!

Jellybum2019 · 10/06/2019 01:09

Arrived for induction at 5pm, pessary in by 6.30pm and waters broke by half 8 (was the most surreal experience, I was drenched! Never expected that much water to come out, soaked through all the pads, bed sheets and my nightie) was very sudden and was quite funny afterwards once I got over the shock. Mild period pains turned into waves of mild contractions around 10pm and from 11pm I’ve struggled to walk/move through them so have been bouncing on the gym ball with a tens machine on and they are manageable with my headphones in trying to keep relaxed. So far having a calm experience and looking forward to seeing what the next few hours bring!

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 10/06/2019 08:37

Jellybum2019

That's great it worked so fast for you, hopefully you are holding your little one by now. Keep us updated x

ryanreynolds · 10/06/2019 09:00

Exciting news @Jellybum2019...hope it all goes well!! Xxx

LivingOnAPear · 10/06/2019 14:59

I’ve just been to midwife for a sweep and she couldn’t do it as thinks the baby might have turned breech. Got to go for a scan at hospital now.

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 10/06/2019 16:30

O no @ LivingOnAPear

Hope wait works out ok for you Flowers

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 11/06/2019 10:24

@ryanreynolds

Any update with you?

ryanreynolds · 11/06/2019 11:01

@Cantthinkofausername1990 nope - nothing! Intermittent cramps which are more painful than previous BH's but don't ever seem to develop into anything!! Anything with you?

Hope all is OK @LivingOnAPear

I bought a Fathers Day onesie...I assume this is what has jinxed me...!! Blush

LivingOnAPear · 11/06/2019 11:23

Thanks @cantthinkofausername1990 and @ryanreynolds.

Well it turned out it was all a false alarm. Baby not breech. She’s 3/5 engaged and slightly back to back but midwife at hospital said she’s not going anywhere now until in labour. I’d psyched myself up for a c section and arranged for my mum to come and babysit dd.

So I’m back to waiting again now. Still cramps and back pains on and off. Still haven’t had a sweep as was supposed to have one yesterday. My midwife seems quite anti sweep and doesn't think they work but I’d try anything to not be induced. Seems weird phoning up to beg for someone to stick their hand up you but I might have to do that today as she said she’d give me a sweep on Monday if baby not breech but then I will be 10 days over due. The deadline for outpatient induction here is 12 days overdue.

@ryanreynolds someone bought me a Christmas onesie for my dd due on 19th December. She didn’t arrive until 4th Jan. I was secretly annoyed with them for jinxing me but also annoyed with my sister who hadn’t bought dd a xmas pressie as she hadn’t been born yet.

Fingers crossed we all have our babies by the weekend.

Murfs · 11/06/2019 11:36

@livingonapear good stuff baby is engaged and in good position its crap having psyched yourself up for a section but sounds like baby might be on the way!!
Aaaah im getting lots of "any news" texts which is lovely that everyone is so excited but it also makes me feel like will you come already baby!
Also was full sure I was in labour last night. Hubster and I had to travel a few hours to see family due to a family bereavement and I started getting what I thought was contractions on the way home and I was timing them etc they were regular and kinda painful and then just stopped!! Ah well I will give a sweep a go this Thursday if no sign!! Poor hubs might not being getting a fathers day present this year!

ryanreynolds · 11/06/2019 12:31

Sounds like signs it's coming for all of us @Cantthinkofausername1990 and @LivingOnAPear but the problem is I don't know if it means like happening tomorrow or just body is getting there?!
