Hi all just starting a lil thread for anyone out there who is due or over due!!
I just turned 40 weeks there on Thursday first pregnancy!! No regular signs of anything happening yet just braxton hicks contractions which get me all excited and then fade away.
I bought an exercise ball yesterday which seemed to bring sort of braxton hicks on last night but no sign of any further developments over night. Also I declined a sweep on Thursday with the hope baby would do their thing kinda regret not getting it done now it just freaks me out a little but next thursday if babys not here i'll go for it.
Im not losing the plot yet I could wait another week but would love if baby came of her on accord!! Anyone else in the same boat? Xx

@ryanreynolds ah no the hubby is taking 2 weeks off but rather than starting tomorrow and potentially wasting a few days off just looking at me here on my bouncy ball when there is no baby he may as well go in and then start paternity when I either am being in induced (for sure) or in labour. Oh a bath sounds lovely. I had a relaxing on yesterday major pregnancy struggles trying to get back out of it lol!

Sounds a good idea re your DH @Murfs. Mine can work fairly flexibly so works well for us!

LivingOnAPear · 16/06/2019 18:59

Mine has been working from home on and off expecting the baby to be here any minute and so that I can pop to endless appointments.

@murfs are you 42 weeks on thurs? I think that’s generally when they start monitoring if you are not being induced. That’s what happened to me with dd.

It must be annoying waiting to go in once you have made the decision but it’s definitely better to be at home if they are busy and gives you more time to go into labour.

Are you getting proper contractions @ryanreynolds ? I just keep getting severe period pains but then it goes for a while. I’m willing the pain to get worse.

Murfs · 16/06/2019 19:06

@livingonapear yes 42 weeks on thursdsy! Thats good they start monitoring then its my first so im unsure of what the norm is. I think im just frustrated but I think I will look for a check up anyway even at the hospital! Im much happier here of course so long as the little one is OK x

Yes pretty sure it’s normally 42 weeks even when the hospital has a policy of inducing earlier at 40+10 or 12 days. You’re only really considered overdue at 42 weeks but I was told they usually like to induce earlier as it can take a few days for the baby to come out. You should be able to go in for monitoring if you are worried.

ryanreynolds · 17/06/2019 06:06

@LivingOnAPear @Murfs I did 26 hours of 'latent labour'...some of which were super painful. Got precisely no more dilated than when I arrived at the hospital so now on an oxytocin drip under epidural!

Epidural is my favourite thing so far!!

LivingOnAPear · 17/06/2019 06:21

Oh @ryanreynolds I was wondering how you we’re getting on. I’m planning on having all the drugs if I end up on a drip. Good luck for today.

ryanreynolds · 17/06/2019 06:33

Definitely do it @LivingOnAPear - also had something similar to pethidine which got me an hours sleep..again, amazing!!

LivingOnAPear · 23/06/2019 09:49

Mine finally arrived on Friday night. I was seriously regretting being induced as propess on weds and breaking my waters on Friday didn’t send me into labour. I walked up and down stairs and to the beach for 6 hrs on Friday to try and get contractions started and so I could use birthing pool. Ended up on drip, stupidly waited to have an epidural as I wanted to pace myself. Lost the ability to cope with the pain on gas and air, the anaesthetist showed up but by then there was no break between contractions so he couldn’t put it in and then I was pushing the baby out.
We decided to go home that night so we could have some of our planned home birth experience (the hospital postnatal ward is horrible) but then I suddenly felt unwell and had a big haemorrhage.
Home now and have had the first sleep in a few days.
Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

ryanreynolds · 24/06/2019 06:57

Congratulations @LivingOnAPear. Hope you and new baby are doing well. Enjoy the new baby bubble xxx

Mrskaykay · 24/06/2019 23:38

Congratulations to everyone! Looks like everyone's wait is over. 🤗

Just wondering, is anyone having a hard time recovering? The unglamorous post partum that nobody tends to talks about?Blush

I'm having issues with my bowel movement. People say it's normal but what is normal?

Murfs · 25/06/2019 10:53

@mrskaykay I know nobody talks about the ungalmourous aftermath lol
I had a C section so yep had some bowel issues. I just ate as much veg as I could when I got home, juice and coffee and after about 3 days after my section I went. Obs don't want to force a movement as it can be sore across the wound. I used a rolled up clean towel for a bit of compression. Also for wind I recommend getting yer hand on some peppermint tea and peepermint tablets.

So glam!!!!

Ha good question @Mrskaykay! I have had the post c section trapped wind (eventually fixed by peppermint and also fennel tea) and also my first bowel movement. Still find going to the toilet (either one) painful but in the inside if that makes sense. I weaned myself off the prescription meds as soon as I could and ate lots of fruit and veg as I didn't want to have to take a laxative.

Had a few sneezes today, that wasn't fun!

My issues are more my emotions being all of the place/being really anxious which isn't like me - I assume all hormones and it will pass but I don't like not feeling like myself!

Also I think my stomach looks like a war zone with stretch marks and the c section incision. I can't bring myself to touch it as it feels all wierd like I've got an inch of rubber coating it Sad
