Hi all just starting a lil thread for anyone out there who is due or over due!!
I just turned 40 weeks there on Thursday first pregnancy!! No regular signs of anything happening yet just braxton hicks contractions which get me all excited and then fade away.
I bought an exercise ball yesterday which seemed to bring sort of braxton hicks on last night but no sign of any further developments over night. Also I declined a sweep on Thursday with the hope baby would do their thing kinda regret not getting it done now it just freaks me out a little but next thursday if babys not here i'll go for it.
Im not losing the plot yet I could wait another week but would love if baby came of her on accord!! Anyone else in the same boat? Xx

@murfs fingers crossed for you too. With my dd I had regular contractions on the Saturday evening which were like bad period pain but bearable then the next morning they were gone. They then came back with a vengeance on the Sunday afternoon. So you could well be in early labour.

LivingOnAPear · 11/06/2019 12:35

@ryanreynolds it’s so annoying isnt it. I was about to go for acupuncture but had quite bad back pain so thought it might be starting. Now it’s gone again. Agghh.

I’ve just restocked all the snacks that I bought for the birth but ate. Need to try to resist them.

Still obsessively tidying and cleaning in case it all happens tonight.

LivingOnAPear · 11/06/2019 12:37

Also did a big Asda order and added loads of celebratory Prosecco and wine. Was tempted to buy all the cheeses I’ve not been able to eat preggers but thought they might go off at this rate.

ryanreynolds · 11/06/2019 14:46

I'm so bored @LivingOnAPear that I am planning on going to the supermarket tomorrow instead of doing my usual online order!!

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 11/06/2019 19:04

@LivingOnAPear
At least it is good news your little one is nearly fully engaged and you might be able to go naturally. Hopefully you won't have to wait much more.

I have induction in the morning and suddenly really nervous about it Confused. Think this will be a long night, hope I manage to get some sleep

ryanreynolds · 11/06/2019 19:12

Good luck for tomorrow @LivingOnAPear x

LivingOnAPear · 11/06/2019 20:02

All the best @Cantthinkofausername1990. At least the end is in sight.

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 12/06/2019 13:53

Had my first gel at 9 this morning, they said baby is still a bit high and cervix not fully softened so not expecting anything to happen until iv had 2 or 3 rounds of gel.
They leave 6 hours between the gels so it's going to be a long process, but my last natural labour was 29 hours so I'm not fed up yet 😁

LivingOnAPear · 12/06/2019 14:07

@Cantthinkofausername1990 hope it doesn’t drag out too long. Do they think you will be in labour tonight or have to stay in waiting? Hope you have some entertainment and food.

ryanreynolds · 12/06/2019 20:52

Whoops sorry @Cantthinkofausername1990 it was you I meant to wish luck to!! Hopefully things are starting to move for you.

I had a sweep, cervix still really high. Going to have another on Monday, after that they will talk induction with me.

Really want this baby to decide to come if it's own accord but think it's unlikely! Have decided it's not happening this week, so mind on next week!!

Mrskaykay · 12/06/2019 21:51

Hi everyone,

40+5 today. Went in for a sweep today but it had to be abandoned as I was unable to relax! Now I'm thinking how will I go through induction next week and labour.

Is it just me?

LivingOnAPear · 12/06/2019 22:04

I went back to midwife for a sweep today too at 40 +5. She couldn’t do it as couldn’t reach my cervix so it was a total waste of time. Booked in for another one Monday afternoon and then induction on weds morning. I still don’t know if I will go for the induction but midwife said better to book it in as they get full up and I might miss the cut off day for going home after being induced to await labour. They will only do that until 40 + 12 here. Hoping to book reflexology tomorrow and another acupuncture on Saturday. Covering all bases.

Been trying to plan childcare and think that my dh will have to drive 3 hours to drop dd at his mums on tues night. So no doubt that’s when labour will start.

LivingOnAPear · 12/06/2019 22:12

@mrskaykay I don’t know about induction but I found in labour the hormones take over and you become uninhibited and therefore probably more relaxed. I had endless people examining me (as I was bleeding quite a lot) including a male dr and wasn’t that bothered whereas normally I would feel nervous and uncomfortable.

ryanreynolds · 13/06/2019 12:25

Im booked for an induction next week too @LivingOnAPear but hoping baby comes before that!! Got another sweep booked in too...it's all just so frustrating!

@Mrskaykay I found the sweep pretty uncomfortable too but figure that anything to get the baby out will be good. Had psyched myself up for it to be worse...! I am also apprehensive about labour, hoping not be induced so I can use the pool - I asked on here and people said that you're poked and prodded less!!

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 13/06/2019 12:52

So I went in for induction yesterday, as planned they wanted to get baby out before he got too big. (Predicted 10 pounds at 40 weeks).
I actually found the induction calming, having the process explained to me and being advised and monitored throughout the day.
Well after a round of gel yesterday morning and another at 4pm the contractions were 2 mins apart. I didn't dilate well despite the contractions so thoughts I was going to sleep through the night with pethidine. But 1 am my waters broke and contractions were so much stronger, still only 2cm though, 2.30 I had to go to the Labour ward and had gas and air and epidural soon after.
6.35 baby arrived, 10 pounds 12 ounces assisted vacuum delivery but only a small tear.
From induction it was 21 hours til he was born, my last Labour which started naturally was 29 hours. And I'm so much happier about how this labour went!
So just wanted to let you know that sometimes induction isn't all bad!

ryanreynolds · 13/06/2019 14:10

Congratulations @Cantthinkofausername1990 - fab news!!

Thanks for the reassuring story about induction - I suspect that will be me next week, hopefully as smooth as yours sounds.

Enjoy your new baby x

LivingOnAPear · 14/06/2019 15:39

@Cantthinkofausername1990 glad it went well. Congratulations!

LivingOnAPear · 14/06/2019 15:43

@ryanreynolds Hope you are ok. Sending you all the labour vibes.

I got very excited at losing mucous plug today but then read it could still be weeks until labour Sad

ryanreynolds · 14/06/2019 19:01

You too @LivingOnAPear. No change here!

As far as I know I haven't lost my mucous plug...or at least not all in one go...I have (I think) come to terms with the fact that I won't be going into labour spontaneously and I'll be induced next week!

Probably better for my mental state...!

Murfs · 16/06/2019 10:57

Any updates ladies? Im sitting here @ 40weeks + 10 no sign of baby waiting on a call regards induction suppose to be in today but labour ward is full. Its hard to relax really

ryanreynolds · 16/06/2019 11:11

@Murfs I think I'm in the early labour phase and have lost all/some of my plug. Annoyingly was much more regular through the night and now gone quiet. Am hopeful that this means the end is in sight...and hopefully sooner rather than later!

LivingOnAPear · 16/06/2019 12:53

I’m 40 +9 today. Had a few more cramps and mild contractions this morning but nothing regular. Had acupuncture again yesterday afternoon so was hoping that would help.
@ryanreynolds exciting stuff. I hope they come back later.

ryanreynolds · 16/06/2019 14:55

@LivingOnAPear I had one lot of acupuncture but it sent me a bit crazy thinking I was going into labour that I didn't go back! Sorted my pelvis pain though!

Fingers crossed things move for you soon x

Murfs · 16/06/2019 17:50

@ryanreynolds and @livingonapear just rang the maternity hosp there. They are still super busy so I definitely won't be brought in tonight or even tomorrow might be Tuesday ffs!! its weird but I was promised phonecalls which I haven't got and when I phone I'm just being put through to the poor midwife who is looking after the induction bay who tho lovely is stressed!!-I dunno how I feel about it I dont mind waiting as such I understand I just feel nervous not being monitored. Baby is moving about and I am feeling some on and off lwr back pains and pressure down below but then they pitter off so no labour.
I suppose you know when you have carried them so long you know they are ready to come out to the world I just want her safe in my arms or know for sure she is safe if she is staying in. I mean if I refused the induction they would insist on monitoring I feel like im getting neither! Also my care is mw led as im low risk and my community wife only works thursdays in my GP. I think I will ask to be brought in for a check up tomorrow to EOU.
Anywho poor hubster is going to work tomorrow after telling them all on friday I was going in at the weekend lol gotta keep them paternity leave days for when baby is here also... hoping sods law will work in our favour if he goes in!! Luckily I told noone (apart from MN) about being brought in as I would be pestered by now by family.
I hope ye gals are having better luck yer side of things xxx

ryanreynolds · 16/06/2019 18:06

Oh that's shit @Murfs but I guess safer at home if they're overrun. I hadn't realised until recently that Paternity Leave only starts when the baby is here...should be something for labour! Hopefully someone goes in and out quicker than planned so you get to go in.

I'm now sure I'm in early labour, pretty tired as it all kicked off at 3am and only napped a bit since then. Spoke to the MW unit so they know about me but a long way to go until I have to go in!

Next up: a bath!!
