Hi everyone, how's everything feeling 36 weeks?

Kicks are bizarre right the way round my side but also getting low pains so hoping he is still head down.
Trapped wind pains I think round front and back
I think I'm also getting Braxton hicks but low down tightening rather than whole stomach
Dodgy tummy
Feeling so emotional with surge of hormones and wanting to cry at everything
Feeling also a bit manic with some small bursts of cleaning before just lying on sofa
Feeling generally bit more panicky about the whole baby going to be hear soon not to mention the birth!

Does this all sound normal?!

Hi Pancakes22! How are you? I'm 36 + 1 today! My kicks feel a lot less strong now I'm getting towards the end even though my bump is tiny! Main problems for me is the insane heartburn and throbbing sore pelvis! Started gettin period like pains the past 2days hoping she makes an early appearance! :D

Kelis22 · 04/06/2019 11:57

@pancakes22 all sounds normal lol! I'm also in the nesting stage haha! Although I haven't cried for days my hormones seemed to have calmed down a lot! I had a little cry on Sunday but that was because I missed the lfc homecoming parade I was gutted lol!

RMarieClaire · 04/06/2019 17:24

I'm 35+4 and all the same for me, apart from the nesting, which I really hope kicks in soon because my house is a tip!

Really dodgy tummy past few weeks, and getting worse has put the fear in me that baby is coming sooner rather than later. Can't wait to meet her but so much to do!

curiositycreature · 04/06/2019 17:27

Can I join in? 37 weeks today. I’m starting to get nervous. Lots of Braxton Hicks. Being home alone is unnerving, but I generally feel more relaxed when DH is home. My mum assured me yesterday that I’d know the difference between BH and actual labour.

Are you all doing anything specifically to prepare?? I’ve been batch cooking today but I’m at a loss how else I can best prepare!

Lauren83 · 04/06/2019 18:04

I'm 36.2 today and feel rubbish, so drained and weepy and getting really bad shooting pains (fanny daggers) Hmm DS is 16 months and a real handful at the moment so finding it a struggle, working up to the 20th and got an ELCS booked for 24th but midwife yesterday said she thinks I might not make it that far, his heads fully engaged but he is partially back to back

pancakes22 · 04/06/2019 18:13

Hi everyone, isn't it funny how we are all having similar symptoms! I was thinking maybe it means I'm going to be early too but perhaps if we are all feeling the same it is just what these last few weeks have in store. Urgh! Going to be a hard slog with this tiredness and soreness around pelvis, foo and back! Going to see my osteopath next week for PGP and apparently there is a vertebrae that turns in your neck 10 days before labour starts so I suppose if I go along with that I will soon know if I'm going to be early or due date plus! I'm considering booking a reflexology appointment on my due date too.

@curiositycreature Good idea about the batch cooking. I've been sorting out baby clothes today but may get cooking soon too. What kind of stuff have you been making?

@Lauren83 can I ask where abouts do you feel his movements? I've got a feeling mine may be back to back as I have two big lumps at the front of my stomach which I think may be knees and am getting bit more back ache? Is your ELCS because of the position?

Lauren83 · 04/06/2019 18:25

I had an induction last year due to DS1 being pretty big so I was induced at 38 and he was born at 38.3 by section, due to prev section they asked if I wanted another so I said yes. To be honest everything started feeling different about 10 days ago and the kicks started feeling really sore and the fanny daggers started but I'm presuming they are from his head being engaged, I was surprised when she said he was back to back as I hadn't noticed anything to think he was although I could always feel his back/bum in the same place and don't so much now, I don't feel like I can feel any other parts of him like his knees or anything but she did say he was only partially, he keeps settling on one side then moving to the other god knows what he is up to!

She also asked about backache but I haven't really had any and she said around my belly button was concave which can be a sign of back to back

curiositycreature · 04/06/2019 18:43

Will they move ELCS forward lauren?

“Fanny daggers” btw! Love that phrase. Been getting lots of them. They’re not pleasant at all.

Batch cooking... did a paella, pasta bake, carbonara and mac and cheese today. Tomorrow will be lasagne, chilli and some noodles ready to go (which seems daft because you can cook them in seconds anyway!). I’ve been rubbish enough food shopping and cooking for the last 8.5 months (why go to Asda when I can sit on the sofa?!) so I can’t see myself being very good with a newborn 😂 batch cooking seemed like a must!

Feel like there must be other things I can be doing except sitting and waiting...

DoveGreylove · 04/06/2019 20:36

Hello @pancakes22 i'm 36+3 :)

I have two lumps at the front too and based on my last ultrasound a couple of months ago I think they are the babies bum/back and her knees. She always kicks my right side! Don't worry too much about your babies position. Just make sure you stay active- do lots of walking and if you have an exercise ball use that to roll your hips etc to get baby into a nice position :) The midwife/dr will be able to tell you where she is.

I am definitely more emotional these days and I get frustrated/lose my temper very easily! Have also had a couple of wobbles about baby's arrival. Thinking, what have I done? Can I do this? (It's all i've ever wanted so I keep reminding myself of this!)

Have everyones movements changed slightly? She doesn't exactly kick like she used to. She does kick or punch now and again but for me its more slow movements or general pressure of her moving, or her stretching out her back and legs at the same time. I'm quite paranoid about her moving. If I don't feel her (and this is usually when i'm out or busy doing things at home) I panic that she hasn't moved and question if she's OK.

Think i'm getting to the point where I just want her safe with me now!

Moses92 · 04/06/2019 20:36

Can I join? 36 weeks today. Started mat leave last week so have washed all the baby clothes and cleaned the house... Now alternate between feeling energised and knackered! Lots of pains down below so assuming he is engaging, will find out at my midwife appointment on Thurs. No BH but haven't felt one whole pregnancy! I have GD and they are on about inducing me at 39 weeks so I hope he comes before then!

curiositycreature · 04/06/2019 20:38

Definitely similar change in movements Dove, it was quite unnerving at first!

Laura1609 · 04/06/2019 21:20

36 weeks today and snap on lots of those symptoms!
I get movements right the way round on my left side but movements overall are slower and less like jabs, more like stretches.
Feeling utterly exhausted and still have 1.5 weeks to work which is tough.
Pelvic pain is definitely prominent and when I’m walking the pressure I feel down there is so strong. Wanting baby to stay in there for a few more weeks so I can enjoy some mat leave when it finally comes!

Bjones123 · 04/06/2019 21:26

Hello all,

I'm 37+2 so not too far ahead from you guys! I've had similar changes with movements that you describe, much more stretching for longer periods rather than big kicks and movements.

I keep feeling her low down and to the side which becomes painful! I know it'll be worth it in the end but just want her to hurry up and make an appearance, dreading going overdue as I'll be more of an anxious wreck than I am!

Lauren83 · 05/06/2019 07:02

Curiosity no they won't they just said if I go early they will try to fit me in for a section when I'm in labour but might not be able to, and said if I was dilating well they would encourage me to try natural, thing is with DS1 I wasn't nervous of a natural but now I have had a section I feel a bit scared about having to do it when I have my head round a section. Sorry you have the fanny daggers too! They come at the worst time too don't they and stop you in your tracks! DP went to Amsterdam for a stag do at weekend and I think he thought I was putting them on to try to scare him into not going Grin

Well done on the batch cooking too, I wish I could say I had done the same but finding pregnancy with a toddler so hard I actually think I will get more done once the baby is here so just going to wing it

I wonder which of us will have the baby first on this thread! Where are you all having the babies? I'm at St Marys Manchester

curiositycreature · 05/06/2019 08:13

Laura I really hope you get some time in 🤞🏻 I’m sure you will

I’m definitely in the “not yet please” camp.

Lauren I have no idea how women with other children do it... honestly you must be some sort of superwoman. How does your toddler feel about becoming an older brother?

I live a stones throw from a birthing centre down in Hampshire. Hoping I remain low risk enough that I can go there. It’s really pretty and relaxed!

ffiffi8 · 05/06/2019 08:34

36 weeks today! For the last couple of days I've been woken up by period type cramps and diarrhoea gripes Sad bowel movements 3/4 times a day also... have no idea if this is normal? Im just worried I'll be in labour and not know as silly as it sounds.

Lauren83 · 05/06/2019 08:49

Curiosity I won't lie it's been so much harder this time round, I just feel like I'm forever wrestling him and struggling to pick him up, he is a big lad for his age and pretty boisterous and doesn't understand about the baby do he is never gentle, we weren't planning on a 16 month age gap to be honest, DS took 9 years and 5 cycles of IVF with donor eggs and the plan was to have a frozen transfer this summer but I caught naturally when he was 8 months, god knows how but I know how lucky I am! Really hope things go smoothly and you get to deliver at the birthing centre

pancakes22 · 05/06/2019 08:53

@DoveGreylove interesting! I have the midwife today so will get her to have a feel and report back! Totally with you on the wobbles, I keep getting momentary panics too thinking what have we done and especially what kind of impact is this going to have on my DD! You can definitely do this though and she will be here before you know it!!

@curiositycreature you sound like a domestic goddess! I don't know why but I didn't even think of freezing pasta dishes! Genius!

@Lauren83 I had an EMCS following induction with my first too so I know what you mean with the worries about natural birth this time round. I've made such a big fuss the whole pregnancy about wanting a VbAC that now it's closer I'm completely freaking out that I've made the wrong choice and how I will cope with the pain if I go into labour spontaneously!! I know I'm having an epidural because I have quite bad PGP so that's reassuring at least! I have a toddler too - 3.5 years, how old is yours? She is starting to say things like when baby is here mummy will be with baby and I will be with daddy so I feel like she's already thinking I'm going to push her out Sadheartbreaking!!

OP posts:
pancakes22 · 05/06/2019 08:54

@ffiffi8 that's exactly what I've been having recently. I feel like I have really bad trapped wind on and off but low down under bump rather than round my tummy? Is that what yours is like? I think that might just be my version of BH?

OP posts:
pancakes22 · 05/06/2019 08:55

@Lauren83 what an amazing story that you conceived naturally this time round!

OP posts:
Lauren83 · 05/06/2019 09:03

@pancakes22 I keep thinking will I regret not trying for a natural birth but when I think about it it scares me I don't know why as It didn't before, I think it's as my section was great and I recovered really quick I want that again, plus he was 9lbs at 38.3 so was worried about going over with a big baby.

My sons 16 months so I'm hoping because he doesn't understand he will adjust easy but I have cried over worrying how he will feel, I worry how he will react in the days after the section when I can't pick him up or I'm breast feeding the baby, or brings a whole load of extra worries when you already have one doesn't it 😢

pancakes22 · 05/06/2019 09:07

@Lauren83 it really does! I almost feel like I've spent the whole pregnancy worrying about either the birth or my DD and forgotten to kind of think about the fact there's going to be a new little baby boy that's going to attached to me 24/7!!!! I'm really pleased your last section went well - mine was a terrible recovery and infections so I think that's why I've probably gone the other way with the fear of section instead. The last experience just seems to have such an impact on decisions doesn't it. Either way doesn't feel a nice option to be fair!! I don't particularly want to do either!!!

OP posts:
Lauren83 · 05/06/2019 09:12

@pancakes22 I don't blame you then I would be the same, I'm probably lulling myself into a false sense of security because I know just because the last one was fine I know it doesn't mean this one will be, It's almost worse being given a choice as last time they offered ELCS before they offered IOL and I took the IOL which I wouldn't do again, what makes it even harder is I work with midwives and obstetricians so I got about 20 different varying opinions although it's been good having brains to pick on things

curiositycreature · 05/06/2019 11:17

It doesn’t help either of you pancakes and Lauren but as a first time mum, it’s reassuring to hear that those anxieties (maybe not entirely the right word) are there even though you both have done this before.

I don’t think it matters whether you have a natural birth or CS as long as baby arrives safely (which of course you know). I can’t imagine you can regret which way you go. Plus I’d like to think the medical professionals won’t put either of you in an unsafe or unsuitable situation.

ffiffi8 I definitely have that fear but have been reassured I’ll know when I’m in labour. No mistaking it apparently. I don’t think I’ve “dropped” yet so keep reminding myself of that every time I get a twinge. MW later today so I’m sure she can offer some insight about how it’s all looking!
