So back story. One DD conceived via ivf after 3 years of trying.

Suffered massively with MH issues ever since and decided to not do IVF again and stick with one child.

Dh and I rarely have sex, he raised it recently as an issue.

We last had sex about a week before my last period.... my periods have been pretty regular! Maybe a day or two out

This weekend I started feeling nauseas, indegestion and bit of heart burn..... very similar feelings to what I had with DD. Was in Asda so thought I'd buy a £1 pregnancy test just to get the notion out of head.....

You guessed it, it's positive. Came up straight away!!

Cannot blimming believe it!!! How is it possible. I had a period 2 weeks ago???

Firstly, congratulations! Maybe your last period was implantation bleed? Does it matter how?

IVEgottheDECAF · 28/05/2019 09:24

Double check with another test op, i know a while ago Asda had some £1 tests giving out false positives!

Fingers crossed for you though

BickBock · 28/05/2019 09:24

You had unprotected sex, that’s how Hmm

keepingbees · 28/05/2019 09:27

I guess it was an implantation bleed, which if so you'd be about 6 weeks pregnant now. So congratulations Smile

mimibunz · 28/05/2019 09:28

You had unprotected sex whilst you were ovulating.

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 09:30

I've gone out and bought a clear blue test to recheck it.

Need to wait to need the wee now!

It was a proper period.... for like 4 days! As normal and I think we only DTD the week before I was due on.

I'm just in shock!

Thanks @BickBock for the sarcasm! Has to be one doesn't there.

We tried for 4 years to have our DD... god knows how many times we had unprotected sex in those four years. I can count on one hand how many times we have sex in the past two months so excuse the shock at how this has happened

Similar happened to me, 9 years and 5 IVF cycles to get DS who was from a donor egg cycle, caught when he was 8 months and had only had sex once as he and DP had both been ill, mine was a £1 Asda test too and only bought it as walked past them on the shelf and thought why not for a quid! How will you feel if the CB confirms it?

Mamabear12 · 28/05/2019 09:37

Take another test. This has been known to happen to women struggling to conceive. Once you have one baby via adoption or ivf then you stop stressing over it, body relaxes and then fertile. There is one family they struggled to conceive for years. They decided to then adopt and were given the option to adopt triplet babies. When they brought the babies home a couple weeks later the wife wasn’t feeling well and went to the doctor to get checked. She thought maybe it was exhaustion from three babies but wanted to check it wasn’t something else more serious. She found out she was actually pregnant! And that’s not all - pregnant with twins!!!! So they went from struggling to get pregnant and no kids to suddenly having 3 babies with 2 on the way! True story, you can google it. 😀

UCOinanOCG · 28/05/2019 09:39

Our bodies are amazing and sometimes unpredictable. Good luck with your second test. I hope you get the result you want.

OrdinaryGirl · 28/05/2019 09:41

Goodness OP! How's that second test going??

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 09:43

I'm in two minds.... we did say if we didbt have to do ivf again we would be happy with another.

But totally freaked out about how I will cope. I had PND after DD, she's now 3.5 and I've only recently started to feel normal again. I know it might not be the same again but statistically it's likely.

But my OH company are hoping to introduce 6 months full paternity leave soon! So that will help! If it does come in.

Thanks for all congratulations. Will update once I've done another test x

Wow good luck either way 😊

cindersrella · 28/05/2019 09:45

Just a little reassurance on the PD... I had it with my first daughter and it really wasn't good.. my second I didn't have it. I had a few down days but I wouldn't say it was anything like the first.

My fingers and toes are crossed for you both 😀

sheshootssheimplores · 28/05/2019 09:45

To be honest I would be a bit concerned about s four day bleed and then testing positive. OP is it a strong positive or a faint one? I had something similar many years ago where I tested faint positive after my period and it never darkened. I ended up at the doctors where we tested my hcg every few days and it was going up but not doubling. I ended up bleeding out a few weeks later. The explanation was that it was an egg that hadn’t implanted properly but after my period enough tissue remained to still produce hcg.

If you’re testing strong positive then I’d head down to the doctor, explain you had your period 2 weeks ago, and hopefully they can do some bloods and an early scan.

Good luck! Xx

BickBock · 28/05/2019 09:59

Sorry @BertieDrapper, I’m in a foul mood and shouldn’t take it out on you! Congratulations Smile

Guerlainista · 28/05/2019 10:05

What a surprise! You’ll need a little while to get your head around it, I’m sure, but don’t assume that of you go ahead with this pregnancy you’ll have PND again.

I had crushing depression and anxiety after my DC1 was born which lasted a couple of years, but was absolutely fine after DC2. I wasn’t a first time mum this time around and was a lot more relaxed about everything once she arrived.

Take it a day at a time and be kind to yourself.

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 10:06

No worried @BickBock we've all been there!

My other concerns are I've had some bleeding during intercourse... first time was A lot! Like a period, second time it was just a pink smudge. Had my smear 3 weeks ago and waiting in results.

So yes the other concern is that there is something else going on. X

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 10:08

Oh and it was a dark line. It came up straight away. I thought it was the control line...

OP posts:
Princessfaffalot · 28/05/2019 10:10

Hope you get the result you want and everything is ok x

KatharinaRosalie · 28/05/2019 10:13

I have several friends who were TTC unsuccessfully for several years, had an IVF baby and then a natural surprise. Not that uncommon.

Angelinthenightx · 28/05/2019 10:32

Getting a smear test helps u get pregnant,i had a period then smear test & got pregnant that month, was trying for a year & im 39 so i do think this does something to help it along.
Congratulations im sure the first test u done will be right x

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 10:33

Clear blue is negative....

OP posts:
BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 10:35
