So back story. One DD conceived via ivf after 3 years of trying.

Suffered massively with MH issues ever since and decided to not do IVF again and stick with one child.

Dh and I rarely have sex, he raised it recently as an issue.

We last had sex about a week before my last period.... my periods have been pretty regular! Maybe a day or two out

This weekend I started feeling nauseas, indegestion and bit of heart burn..... very similar feelings to what I had with DD. Was in Asda so thought I'd buy a £1 pregnancy test just to get the notion out of head.....

You guessed it, it's positive. Came up straight away!!

Cannot blimming believe it!!! How is it possible. I had a period 2 weeks ago???

Was the first test one of these op?

If so read the reviews

This happens a lot with unexplained infertility and even male factor. That’s why a lot of responsible IVF clinics require younger women with unexplained / male factor to ttc for the full 2 years as a minimum and make lifestyle changes before starting IVF

RapscallionKat · 28/05/2019 10:54

Asda tests have a reputation for giving false readings :(

Do you have a photo of both tests?

Teddybear45 · 28/05/2019 10:55

An ivf pregnancy usually results in more MH issues than a non-IVF one due to the stress of infertility and the hormones / drugs you have to take. There’s also the feeling of abandonment and lack of structure when you from ivf to nhs. You may not get any of that in the natural pregnancy so there’s no guarantee you’ll have a recurrence of PND / MH issues.

I would try a FRER not ClearBlue as they are much more sensitive than CB. Also make sure you either use first wee of the day or hold in for at least 4 hours without drinking to allow any hCG present to build up.

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 11:35

Here's a photo.... think the Asda one has faded a bit? Not a good sign!

Just so frustrating.

The nausea and the smells! Erk
During my first pregnancy, there was a smell in the house which made me feel sick. No one else could smell it!
I haven't smelt that smell since having my DD, until last week! And I've been feeling sick ever since.

So if I'm not pregnant I am so confused what the heck is going on x

Was the ClearBlue done with first morning wee or a later one? Their sensitivity is really low and often say negative when other brands say positive. I would wait till tomorrow morning and use a FRER not another CB!!

Firstimpressionsofearth · 28/05/2019 11:51

I still wouldn't rule it out. I had loads of negative tests with both my babies and then a cheap one from home bargains gave me a positive when the clear blue said negative.

I would try not to think about it (I know impossible) and do another test next week.

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 11:52

Yeah the CB was a mid day wee, but the Asda one wasn't done with my first wee.... but hadn't been a for a few hours.

Will get OH to get a first response test for the morning x

Usually the CB digis have a higher threshold, with my prev pregnancy I had 5 days positive on FRER befor the digi picked it up. My Asda one was as dark as the control line when I tested but I think it was about 5 days after I was due my period

Aneley · 28/05/2019 12:35

It is absolutely possible. 6 years of trying. Last IVF 2 years ago - ended in MMC. We both started accepting that it may never happen to us. Then in March I had horrific back pain around the time I expected ovulation to happen and got terrible cold 2 days later - thought back pain was a weird symptom of cold. Had sex in those 2 days. I am now 10+4 and we had an early scan last week - one strong little heartbeat.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 28/05/2019 13:06

Personally I find the digitals aren't very sensitive. I've always used cheapo tests and they've been right.

Mamabear12 · 28/05/2019 13:38

use a first response test. clear blue digitals are the ones you try last, as they take longer to pick up pregnancies.

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 15:17

Dh has picked up some tests for me.
Will have a go in the morning.

Congrats to all those who did get a positive test! Xx

cindersrella · 28/05/2019 16:20

Oh gosh that does look like a strong positive... you wouldn't never have been able to think other wise with that result.

What tests has he picked up

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 16:47

I asked for first response.... but will see when he gets home! Just hope they are pregnancy tests and not OPKs! Lol

Orchidflower1 · 28/05/2019 16:55

I hope you get the outcome you want op. The contradictory tests are a pain!

I had pnd and anxiety after dc1- stayed on meds for planned dc2 and for a long time after but was much better so it can be done.

Bobbindobbin · 28/05/2019 17:00

OP my clear blue was negative and the normal ones positive, I ended up with twins 😂

glitterbomb13 · 28/05/2019 17:24

Have everything crossed your you OP

BertieDrapper · 28/05/2019 17:27

@Bobbindobbin don't even.... my DH has always wanted triplets! He reckons get it all out the way at once!...... I'm like Nah!!!

Mummyoftwo91 · 28/05/2019 17:32

Good luck op hope you get the result that you want x

agteacht · 28/05/2019 18:57

Definitely try a FRER, I have no experience of the ASDA ones but I didn't get a positive on a CB digital until 3-4 days after FRER

Good luck!

JenMumma · 28/05/2019 19:03

Cosmogirl86 · 28/05/2019 19:05
