Sunbed - opinions!

Hey ladies, im 12 weeks pregnant and considering going sunbed today for 8 minutes - i havent been in ages and im not a tan addict, i just recently became very pale and my face doesn't look very healthy, in the past sunbeds helped with that.
Im not intending on going regularly or for a long period of time.
I read about the potential skin spotting and higher tenancy to burn, and im not so concerned about that, theres no official reports on any negative effect on the baby. Any opinions? Anyone went sunbed whilst pregnant?

Thanks

No I wouldn't. Why not try fake tan instead

jcq17 · 11/05/2019 13:22

No way would I do this

MrFlibblesEyes · 11/05/2019 13:24

I probably wouldn't, one of the dangers in pregnancy is overheating and from what I remember sunbeds get very hot, similar to saunas.

thinkingcapon · 11/05/2019 13:24

Don't be ridiculous op

notsosureaboutthatthough · 11/05/2019 13:25

dont be bloody stupid

FenellaMaxwell · 11/05/2019 13:26

Well, I mean, having their mum die from skin cancer will probably have a fairly negative effect on the baby..... just use fake tan. Nobody should use sunbeds, they’re a massive cancer risk, and certainly even less safe in pregnancy.

FloraMcDougall · 11/05/2019 13:26

Wtf who actually uses sun beds let alone when pregnant

katmarie · 11/05/2019 13:27

If you're pale get your iron levels checked. Going on a subed to get tanned might be hiding a bigger problem in your general health.

Also my skin is lots lots more sensitive when I'm pregnant, tbh I would find a sunbed very very uncomfortable.

jcq17 · 11/05/2019 13:27

You're gonna get crucified for this OP 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Nicecupofcoco · 11/05/2019 13:27

Definitely not!

redbedheadd · 11/05/2019 13:28

WTF?! No way!

Use a tinted moisturiser!!!

eylul16 · 11/05/2019 13:31

Wow, Jesus.
Thanks for your kind responses... Confused

What did you expect? Confused

No one is going to say yeah that’ll be fine hun, crack on.

Fake tan.

redbedheadd · 11/05/2019 13:34

What does kindness have to do with it? Most people wouldn't go on a sunbed normally given they have such a clear link to skin cancer - let alone when pregnant! If they advise you not to go in a jacuzzi, I'm fairly certain a sunbed would be much worse!

mclady · 11/05/2019 13:34

I wouldn't go on when when pregnant, but equally I wouldn't go on one when not pregnant, mainly because I don't want skin cancer.

Get some bronzer on your face and wait for the sun to come out.

Grumpos · 11/05/2019 13:36

Yeah that’s not a good idea.
Other than the risk of being hyper sensitive and getting burnt / pigmentation you do run a risk of overheating which is really quite dangerous esp in the earlier part of pregnancy.
You know what, it might be fine. On the other hand it might not be, depends if you want to live with the potential risks.
I use a facial tanning spray, you literally spray on before you do your make up, like a primer. Let it dry for 2 mins and then apply make up. My face looks really tanned and healthy. It’s esp for face - not too dark / orange.

flumpybear · 11/05/2019 13:38

UV breaks DNA and can cause mutations ... so what do you think is safe for you and your foetus?!

NC4Now · 11/05/2019 13:41

I'm pretty sure tanning shops don't allow you on the sunbeds if you are pregnant. It's definitely not advised.
Get some St Tropez.

AuntieMarys · 11/05/2019 13:43

Stupid idea.

Torsz · 11/05/2019 13:43

A lot of strong responses yet I know of a lot of people who've gone on 'babymoons' and spent a week sunbathing whilst pregnant 😂

ToWantToSleep · 11/05/2019 13:46

Fuck no.

But once you’re no longer pregnant crack on with the skin cancer. And wrinkles. Best 30 year old I ever saw was leather using a subbed every day. Then due o the skin damage decided she needed to keep the fake tan up!

And fuck off daily fail.

babiesrcute · 11/05/2019 13:47

Is this even a question? A sunbed with a baby inside you?!! Do you care about your unborn child??!!!!!!??

8 minutes won't make any difference to your skin colour at all. You'd have to regularly go which I DO NOT suggest. It is a stupid idea

Jsmith99 · 11/05/2019 13:51

Do people really still use sunbeds?

Probably not a good idea, OP.
