Sunbed - opinions!

Hey ladies, im 12 weeks pregnant and considering going sunbed today for 8 minutes - i havent been in ages and im not a tan addict, i just recently became very pale and my face doesn't look very healthy, in the past sunbeds helped with that.
Im not intending on going regularly or for a long period of time.
I read about the potential skin spotting and higher tenancy to burn, and im not so concerned about that, theres no official reports on any negative effect on the baby. Any opinions? Anyone went sunbed whilst pregnant?

Thanks

Sun beds and holidaying sensibly in the sunshine = two very different things, bit like driving 200 mph with no seat belt versus driving sensibly with seat belts

And that is anecdotal evidence. I used plenty of sun beds in my youth and now live in the Caribbean - no skin cancer. And I'm sorry about your friend.

That being said I'm not commenting on the dangers of sunbed use of which there are many.

I'm commenting on the utterly dreadful and over the top comments from posters.

None of them are born out of concern for the op, they're born out of sarcasm, and a massive sense of superiority. That's what I'm objecting to.

OP can be steered in another direction with well thought out guidance, not asked if she cares about her unborn child at all!!

But this site has become a haven for randoms wanting to be as bitchy as possible and it leaves their contribution invalid as far as I'm concerned.

Not anecdotal evidence, I'm a scientist, used to do experiments with UV light and human cells - UV light rapidly breaks and buckles DNA, humans have excision repair enzymes that cut out the broken pieces and fix it, but this isn't infallible and if damage isn't fixed on the DNA this can lead to problems downstream
Just because YOU haven't had, or developed problems, doesn't Make it anecdotal @Strokethefurrywall it's a fact,

And I'm sure that you have loads of evidence to prove that this was related to the 2 sunbed sessions, rather than being exposed to sun since the day she was born...

Ahh, I get the message about it being unhealthy - my questions have been answered, the rudeness and stupidity of some of you is beyond words... I am almost speechless ;)

@Strokethefurrywall - Thank you...

And sorry for my last message I'm frustrated at how people have reacted....
Just find it really unfair.

Regardless, wish all of you the best.

I'm sorry you don't like some of the replies you've received.......sadly that's the nature of the beast when you post in a forum!

I know you'll tell me to fuck off but I'm an oncology nurse , so if it helps to stop you using sunbeds I'm happy to dm you some articles on how they've caused cancer, even just after a few uses....

Mostly though vanity usually wins on this one
Instead of common sense

eylul16 · 14/05/2019 14:14

@thinkingcapon I'm not going to tell you to fuck off, but if you read my previous responses I did thank everyone for advice and said I will not use the bloody sunbeds Smile

It was a question
This question was answered
I understand this topic can be sensitive for some
But I think it is time to end it Smile

Thanks
