Hi everyone,

This is my first post on Mumsnet so please be nice! Smile

I'd love to know if any of you knew or felt you were pregnant before taking a test and how you knew?

I have a copper IUD that is due to come out in 18 months but I've missed a period, feel completely burnt out with exhaustion, I'm eating like crazy and I've had odd discharge for the last week. I plan on taking a test tomorrow but would love to hear your stories.

Best wishes

S xx

I never ‘knew’ I was pregnant but ‘knew’ I wasn’t normal. 😂

First hint was sitting in a meeting and was hungry after 1hr 30 mins from eating lunch. Then start to feel a bit woozy half way through. But then fine for a while with odd irrational hunger moments.

Then the biggest hint which made me test straight away was the aching pain I felt in my boobs when i woke up, and i suppose that convinced me of the likelihood i was pregnant and sure enough the test was positive!

Strange dreams!

EnjoyItAll · 08/05/2019 20:16

I just thought to myself I will buy a test just to see and there it was! before that I was convinced I was pregnant when I had signs but on that occasion af was just late. when I got my bfp I had no noticeable signs and still haven't had any now I'm 21w

Timide · 08/05/2019 20:18

My breasts were so sore. So sore I couldn't sleep and woke up at night 😣

Blue-veined boobs & a metallic taste in my mouth a few days before my period was due with DC1.

With DC2 & DC3 I just knew.

Glitterandunicorns · 08/05/2019 20:22

I needed to wee ridiculously often. Thought I'd best do a test (we'd been trying for so long that I'd pretty much stopped testing by that point!) and was shocked when it was positive!

greyby25 · 08/05/2019 20:24

I had no idea with my first and didn't find out until 12 weeks. Second pregnancy I just knew, I just knew is was. I can't explain it 😂 took a test the day after my period was due and sure enough a line popped up. 19 weeks with twins now !

Slomi · 08/05/2019 20:25

Severe fatigue to the point I would come home from work and fall into bed at 7pm with no dinner and sleep for 11 hours. This went on for two weeks and then one morning I felt a bit queasy while brushing my teeth and just realised right then that I was pregnant. Was on the pill (without break so no period) so a bit of a shock BlushGrin

Echobelly · 08/05/2019 20:26

The second time around I started to suspect that I was pg because I had a sudden feeling of massive horniness that I only ever felt before in the earliest stages of my last pregnancy!

That and being tired and having bad trapped wind Blush

Clangers23 · 08/05/2019 20:27

@Slomi this is exactly how I feel. I am lacking the energy to do anything! I have just started a new job last month that requires 7am starts but that doesn't explain the missed period...

I was taking a very hot shower and noticed my boobs looked pregnant (swollen, darker nipples). I also had a copper iud, so I took the test to dismiss the thought and stop worrying. I’m due in 2 weeks Smile

Angelinthenightx · 08/05/2019 20:30

I got butterflies in my tummy ,felt a bit strange ,got more upset than usual.
Then a week after started to feel sick with period pain type and sore breasts.

Slomi · 08/05/2019 20:33

@Clangers23

Funnily enough I had just started a new job too and I was blaming that but looking back I don't know how I didn't realise earlier. I have honestly never experienced fatigue like it before or since! It sure sounds like you are pregnant to me but definitely do a test to stop yourself wondering. Best of luck OP SmileFlowers

Number3or4 · 08/05/2019 20:37

The vivid dreams. But for ds1 I realised I was two weeks late, then I tested. We were trying but it was a very difficult month which normally for me would mean late af. Dh asked me to test and I did it to please him. I no longer have that patience.

Clangers23 · 08/05/2019 20:37

@slomi oh god - I feel a bit sick to be truthful with you. I always thought I'd be married before this happened but I've been so broody lately so wish us luck!

First symptom of all was just feeling plain odd, kind of butterflies feeling that a PP mentioned. Next symptom was boobs which became so sore and seemed to grow a cup size overnight.

Second and third time around it was a very familiar feeling meaning I “knew” before I took the test. Good luck OP!

MumminLife · 08/05/2019 20:39

Extreme tiredness, I could hardly keep my eyes open at work! I was also very bloated, I tested 4 days before my period was due and got a positive!

MissyPG · 08/05/2019 20:45

DC1 I just knew. We were abroad and I just knew even though my period wasn't late.

DC2, my Fitbit 😂 My heart rate was high days before my period was due. Shrugged it off then tested the next day, still 4 days before period due and there it was, 2 lines

tokywoky · 08/05/2019 20:48

Very emotional - irrationally so. I don't usually get like that before my period but definitely when I was pregnant.
And every pregnancy, I've been unable to have sex comfortably at the beginning. It's almost like my cervix comes further down and is just so sensitive.

Slomi · 08/05/2019 20:49

@Clangers23

We weren't "ready" either as we aren't married and we'd just started to look into buying our house but we embraced it, things all began to fall into place and we wouldn't change a thing. DD is the light of our lives. I am rooting for you OP Smile

Yogagirl123 · 08/05/2019 20:53

Felt so tired, the milk in my tea tasted off, and went of chocolate for the whole of my first pregnancy.

firstimemamma · 08/05/2019 20:53

I know this sounds weird but I couldn't sleep and was lying awake in bed experiencing this strange pulling and pinching sensation in my tummy that I'd never experienced before! Also my period was a couple of days late. Couldn't wait until the morning to take the test so took it just after midnight and got a BFP... then had to wait 9 hours for my fiancé to return from his night shift! I was so excited to be pregnant and to tell him that I couldn't sleep at all!

ListenLinda · 08/05/2019 20:53

DD - extreme fatigue. Couldn’t keep my eyes open after getting in from work.

DS - cigarettes made me feel violently ill, was on pill and wasn’t planning to get pregnant so smoked until took the test at 8 weeks. Felt awful for weeks

Fatted · 08/05/2019 20:53

I had a hangover that didn't end. Turns out it was morning sickness.
