Hi everyone,

This is my first post on Mumsnet so please be nice! Smile

I'd love to know if any of you knew or felt you were pregnant before taking a test and how you knew?

I have a copper IUD that is due to come out in 18 months but I've missed a period, feel completely burnt out with exhaustion, I'm eating like crazy and I've had odd discharge for the last week. I plan on taking a test tomorrow but would love to hear your stories.

Best wishes

S xx

Rage and sore boobs for a couple of weeks. Then I tried to have a sneaky puff on someone's ciggy and it was horrible! Then I knew.

GoodPlaceJanet · 08/05/2019 20:55

I felt implantation with my second DC. It stopped me mid conversation.

For both DC my first symptoms were sore boobs and nausea. Both before a BFP.

needanappp · 08/05/2019 21:01

With my first I suspected as we were trying and a few days before my missed period I couldn't stand eggs! I actually wasted a box full to test whether or not a few had gone bad haha! Then it dawned on me I was likely pregnant.

With my second I'd taken an early test which was negative but the day before my missed period I was at the park with my son. I was walking around thinking how sensitive my nipples felt against my top haha! Again we were trying and I just knew I was pregnant. Tested the next day and got my bfp!

I felt different when I was pregnant with DC1, but put that down to sympathetic hormone stuff because my sister was about to give birth (it turns out that our pregnancies overlapped by around a week from actual conception).

I was briefly pregnant a second time when I was on holiday, but because I was on holiday with friends I didn't take a test. I felt pregnant, but wasn't absolutely certain and had as late heavy period on the trip home. I wasn't absolutely sure that I'd been pregnant until I was pregnant with DS. I hadn't been trying to get pregnant (we were actually planning to start TTC the following month) but I woke up one morning feeling certain that was pregnant, in just the same way that had been before. My period wasn't due for another few days, but I believe was so sure that I need went out and got an early pregnancy test and it was positive.

Muscle stretching/relaxing on my tummy. It started at 3 weeks. Lots of negative tests until BFP and now 6 months along.

MissMilly88 · 08/05/2019 21:21

I had the usual pms like symptoms cramping and sore breasts etc. However, I also felt quite faint in work which made me go and buy a test.

mynameisMrG · 08/05/2019 21:27

I nearly fainted. Was so lightheaded I had to grab hold of something and sit down with my head between my legs for a couple of minutes.

GotThatSlightChewiness · 08/05/2019 21:32

Implantation pains in the middle of the night woke me after my period was a few days late. Tested the next day. BFP

doubleshotespresso · 08/05/2019 21:32

I was exhausted like a zombie and the smell and taste of coffee repulsed me

FireflyEden · 08/05/2019 21:40

With my first I felt tiredness that I had never experienced before. A colleague actually commented on it without me even mentioning it. I then had a lot of pain in my breasts. I think that was the indicator something was happening.

With my second I had none. Literally nothing. Took a test out of curiosity and I was pregnant.

MondeoFan · 08/05/2019 21:55

Yes so very tired, metal taste in my mouth, was at college and thought "I bet I'm pregnant" on the way home I bought a test and sure enough I was. I wasn't at all surprised as I'd already guessed

nuggles · 08/05/2019 22:51

DS1 - nausea kept washing over me every time I ate anyway. From about 4 weeks

DS2 - vomiting from 6 weeks onwards. Nothing before and no reason to think I was pregnant as was still bf DS2

3rd pregnancy - kept feeling dizzy 24/7 - this was from about 2 weeks onwards and nausea began at 3 weeks. Blood tests didn’t pick up pregnancy until 5 weeks now 19

Sparkles1992 · 09/05/2019 00:01

I was more emotional than usual and my mum actually said I bet you are pregnant! I was also peeing a lot more, waking up through the night to go when I never do this! I took a text 4 days before I was due on and it was positive x

L1ll1e · 09/05/2019 00:23

Oddly heightened sense of smell. A tuna sandwich someone else was eating at work make me wonder how and why I ever ate fish. BO of someone sitting quite far away on the bus from me. Cigarette smell out of nowhere. Worst super power ever.

Week 6 in this new adventure.

LolaBlue87 · 09/05/2019 10:50

I didn't have any symptoms at all, but I tested and got my BFP pretty early. Period was 2 days late (unusual for me), took a test, it was positive!

Chanel05 · 09/05/2019 10:56

Never get sore boobs before af but I woke up 9dpo with sore boobs thought it was odd. 10dpo same thing, 11dpo same thing and at 12dpo I thought hmm hang on a minute and low and behold I was pregnant. About a week later I had raging nausea from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep every single day. I then knew when I was having a mmc because I woke up one day and did not have the nausea.

Slapdasherie · 09/05/2019 11:05

First time was when I was handed a plate of scrambled eggs and threw up at the sight of them.

The 2nd time I was walking down the street and literally just stopped and said ‘Oh, you’re here.’

Tobebythesea · 09/05/2019 11:24

DC1 - pure exhaustion. I thought it was jet lag as we had just come back from honeymoon. Nope!

DC2 - Sore breasts

lelrx · 09/05/2019 11:39

I didn't think I was pregnant but there was a few odd things that I noticed so decided to do a test
Went dizzy, didn't fancy a cake from Costa and I was bloated other than that nothing, my periods wasn't regular due to coming off the injection

greystar30 · 09/05/2019 11:41

Bloating that never went away and an unexplainable rush of a really weird hot feeling inside that would last maybe 10-15 seconds at a time!

faelavie · 09/05/2019 11:42

Missed my period when I'm usually regular. Yep, as simple and old fashioned as that!

youngfreeandnotsingle · 09/05/2019 11:45

I had no idea, I just had an IC left around 5 days before AF so thought I'd give it a try. Queue the shock when there was a line after nearly a year of TTC!

DontCallMeShitley · 09/05/2019 12:07

I knew immediately, during the act, just felt something had happened. Ignored it though.

Not long after my breasts started to feel uncomfortable and increased in size, then I felt grim, followed by all day queasiness, no actual sickness, just felt awful.

soulrunner · 09/05/2019 12:17

Dc1: no clue. Did the test as I was late having drunk my own body weight on NYE 2 days earlier after doing a precautionary negative test.
Dc2: knew a week after dtd ( literally once as DH had the flu) . Was exhausted and just ‘felt pregnant’. Met friend for dinner and had to bail at 9:30. Tested next morning and faint positive.

EmeraldRubyShark · 09/05/2019 12:30

We were TTC so I knew it was possible but didn’t expect it to happen so fast (we caught the very first egg after we decided to try, just two weeks into TTC!) due to fertility issues.

The week after I ovulated I had a five day stretch of feeling really sick all day to the extent I didn’t want to eat, which I’ve never had before. Shortly after the positive test the first symptom was my boobs hurting really badly, to the extent still where if I hug friends I have to do it very gingerly, running hurts, and if I roll onto one during the night it wakes me up in pain.

Other than that I started feeling nausea from around six weeks but haven’t vomited yet. I reckon even if I hadn’t have been trying I’d have clocked something was up from the breast pain as I’ve just never known them to hurt before ever and it’s so acute!
