Feeling so nauseous and bloated and tired today. Feel rubbish and hormonal and work is stressing me something rotten so feeling like throwing the towel in today! Roll on home time I do not want to be here today!

Smiffette · 19/03/2019 10:15

@thumper59 I feel similar! Sooo bloated today and tired! Although I'm feeling a little better that I told my boss my news yesterday and she was really happy for us so that's a massive relief! Wasn't planning on saying so early as only 7+1 but with some changes going up and a meeting next week it was kind of important she knew!
On count down to the weekend now though Smile

OhMarnie · 19/03/2019 11:06

I feel like I'm developing a very specific but limited list of things I now can and can't face eating.

On the good list:
Marmite on toast
Mini cheddars
Yoghurt
Berries

On the bad list:
Biscuits
Anything wet 😂 this includes salad
Tea 😞
Tomatoes

What about you guys?

Prequelle · 19/03/2019 11:09

Yesterday someone was sick on my arm and a load went into my glove. I ended up running off to vomit.

NorthernStep · 19/03/2019 11:20

Hi all, may I join in?
Got my BFP last Monday and due (according to lmp) 19th November. Rather nervous as I had a MMC in October and I'm sending myself crazy symptom spotting. Have a 19 month old DD who was also a rainbow baby. Going to ring the EPU later as after last time they said I can go for early scans to check the progress.

Hope everyone is well and sending sticky dust and good vibes to you all. Is there a Facebook group set up?

thumper59 · 19/03/2019 11:32

@OhMarnie I have a real Over W helming desire to eat salt and vinegar crisps and I normally don't even like them!

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 12:06

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 12:11

Congratulations @NorthernStep! I also get an early scan by epu. Ours is at 8 weeks as they say that’s best (less likely to have to come back in 2 weeks to check development) I’m going to call next week

We have a Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/810119422687398/?ref=share

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 12:12

@ChesMum2019 wonderful! Flowers

I’m garlic obsessed at the moment too! I’ve taken to roasting cloves and eating them Hmm

tigsyboo · 19/03/2019 12:30

NorthernStep · 19/03/2019 12:51

FirstTimeMama91 · 19/03/2019 12:52

Told my boss today even though I'm only 4 weeks +5 lol! But glad to get it off my chest and not worry about it Grin

dottydally · 19/03/2019 13:01

Joining @OhMarnie and @Mintypea5 with the yes/no food lists:

Yes
Fruit (apples in particular, fresh out of the fridge, are the nicest crunchiest things ever at the minute)
Sparkling water
Crisps (any variety except chicken)
Pasta

No
Melted cheese (ruined lasts nights dinner)
Chocolate
Yoghurt

I am gutted that chocolate is out the window Sad

Hayley89 · 19/03/2019 13:01

Afternoon all!

I've just been reading through all the maternity leave chat and it's got me thinking. Are any of you self employed? Or were any of you self-employed during previous pregnancies?
I own a company but we only launched in September, there's literally just me and my business partner at the moment which means when I go off we'll lose half of our income stream! I'm hoping to tell him in a couple of weeks (once I grow some balls!) but I'm not even sure what my options are. I don't want to put myself under huge pressure to go back to work super quickly, I want time off to recover and obviously to look after the baby, but at the same time I can't expect my colleague to run things by himself forever! Is it possible to be a stay at home mum for a while AND work at the same time or am I asking for the moon on a stick?

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 13:08

@Hayley89 I’m not self employed but have a few friends that are who had babies roughly when I had DS2. A lot of them took a set period break (I assumed worked out on money / savings / agreement with business partners etc) and the. Gradually started back. A lot wfh with their babies but I guess it depends the nature of your business??

PrayingandHoping · 19/03/2019 13:11

@Hayley89 I'm self employed but a one man band so I won't have anyone relying on me. I'm also not the main wage earner in the household so my reduction in earnings won't be too much of a kicker.... planning on claiming statutory maternity pay (the small amount it is) but i don't know how long for as I may start doing bits which will earn me more if I can work out childcare routine with OH. We shall see. I'm not too worried about that at the moment 😁

thumper59 · 19/03/2019 13:22

@ChesMum2019 aw that's amazing 💕
@Hayley89 I work with my dad, and do the main of everything in our business so I am concerned about how that will work when I go off. Have to just see, you can't just work and work forever can you. I'll be able to do bits at home but some is shop based as well so I don't know how we'll manage there!

AlexandraPark · 19/03/2019 13:47

Reposting from the previous thread...

I found out yesterday that I am due early November - I was told by an orthopaedic surgeon after going in for a small procedure. They did a pregnancy test as part of the pre-OP (original post/poster) tests! It came as a BIG surprise as we weren't really 'officially' trying. I thought I was nauseous and tired as a result of the antibiotics I was taking, and was irregular as I@d just had the coil removed! I am VERY excited and VERY nervous - 1st pregnancy at 34, turning 35 in July...

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 13:52

Congratulations @AlexandraPark! Bet that was a bit of a surprise! Welcome to our little thread Flowers

AlexandraPark · 19/03/2019 14:07

Thanks @MintyPea! I'm pretty overwhelmed at the moment and not sure what to expect. Went into the hospital expecting to have minor surgery, came out with this news...

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 14:11

@AlexandraPark do you know how many weeks you are. Such an exciting time Grin

AlexandraPark · 19/03/2019 14:17

7 weeks and 2 days judging from the date of my last period. Just started to feel REALLY sore and bloated around the middle, and have no appetite at all until mid-afternoon. Have my first GP appointment next week, and I'm wondering when the best time to inform my boss is...I teach in a small school where staffing is often tight, and another colleague is going on ML in July too.
