Anyone else getting cramps? Have like an uncomfortable tugging feeling at the minute. Haven't had any bleeding or spotting so hoping it's all normal Smile

Littleseed · 18/03/2019 21:16

That's true, and a positive thought there @AcatcalledGary. Smile About your body growing the embryo! True again about not being able to win. Wink lol.

Bean1987 · 18/03/2019 21:17

@FirstTimeMama91
Yh also having bad cramps. They come and go-but can be quite painful at times

As far as I’m aware this is normal, esp as you have no bleeding. Think it’s just the uterus changing

FirstTimeMama91 · 18/03/2019 21:27

@Bean1987 thank you Thanks

Chanel05 · 18/03/2019 21:36

@bumblingalonghappily your holidays will be exciting with two scans booked 😊. Have you told anyone else about your pregnancy yet?

@Bean1987 I say just go for it and book one if you fancy an early scan! Mine is booked for next Monday. The local place to me opens at weekends and also evenings so my appointment is at 8pm.

Laurajp23 · 18/03/2019 22:11

🙋🙋 another teacher here too!!
I had to tell my line manager so early because I work with SEN KS4 and I have to keep myself safe going forward as I can't now use any team-teach strategies or anything I would normally do if needed.

I'm considering leaving at beginning of November and going back just before summer hols and then I can still be paid full pay over the summer. Seeing that others are doing that makes me feel better about it! 😊😊

Hayley89 · 18/03/2019 22:51

@Littleseed couldn't agree more! I'm already loving this group for that, reading what other people are feeling makes me feel so much more at ease about everything.
Yeah just one session. I quit for 6 months a couple of years ago and stupidly fell back into it. I knew we wanted to get pregnant so I went back to quit again and I'm pretty sure we conceived 2 weeks later 😂
I know it doesn't work for everyone but for me it was a complete last resort so I was just grateful it worked!

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 02:38

Is anyone else having crazy dreams??! I had feallly bed nightmares / very vivid dreams for a week or also before testing which is what made me think I was pregnant but now it’s likr living in a movie Grin when I do finally get to sleep my dreams are just so full on abd feel sooooo real

bumblingalonghappily · 19/03/2019 03:50

Yes @Mintypea5 I am! - hence being awake now 😊 I also stupidly took my bbt again this morning and think I need to stop as it's causing me lots of anxiety now- is anyone else still doing this?? If so, could you have a look st my chart? I'm really quite worried about it as it has dropped again. I know taking temps v early in the morning normally leads to lower results, but a few of the v high temps I got were for at the same time as this. I really really hope I'm worrying too much 🙁

bumblingalonghappily · 19/03/2019 03:54

@Chanel05 I have literally told one colleague who knew we were ttc but that's it. I wasn't planning to tell her it just kind of came out! No family know at all yet!- they don't even know we're ttc. My parents rang at the weekend and when they asked 'anymore news?' It felt v weird saying 'no, not really!'

TrashKitten10 · 19/03/2019 05:12

@bumblingalonghappily I'm in early years so we tend to get a heck of a lot of infectious illnesses coming in. We've recently had slapped cheek in my setting and measles within the wider school so I felt I wanted to tell fairly early so that they have a duty to inform me and keep me safe.

@Laurajp23 Do it guilt free, teaching maternity pay isn't great but the holidays are a perk and we should use them :) think how many non-teachers tag their fully paid holidays onto the start and end of maternity leave to boost their pay. I might go back for the last few days or to be honest just may enter my date of return as the first day of the summer holidays.

bumblingalonghappily · 19/03/2019 05:18

@TrashKitten10 that's really sensible. I work in a secondary school so maybe not so bad- we do get the occasional outbreak of chicken pox but they always notify everyone if that's the case. The students here are also really well behaved so little to no risk of being slapped etc.

I would also be tempted to 'go back' on the first day of the summer holidays, however I think I would like at least a week at the end of term to catch up with everyone/try to get myself ready for after the holidays if possible. My dh could take the week off work and enjoy being a stay at home dad for a week 😊

TrashKitten10 · 19/03/2019 05:39

@bumblingalonghappily That's good they inform you, we don't get told unless they determine we have a need to know. I only knew about the measles as they had to come across and inform my pregnant colleague. I've just been relying on her (unbeknownst to her) for the pregnancy related news but she's about to go on maternity so then I'm riding solo Grin Our children are also, ahem, not so well behaved and between this class this year they have thrown things at me, slapped me, kicked me, hit me in the face and pulled my hair out. To be honest after lots of hard work they are now much tamer and I haven't been hurt for months. That's how every year tends to start though so I'm dreading September. I don't think at 30+ weeks I'll have the energy for all that child taming haha. It will also be hard to learn to step back as a chair comes flying across the room. Unrealistic maybe but I'm hoping they may put my replacement in place for September and I can float and support until October half term. Otherwise I'm going to have to deal with all the worst behaviour heavily pregnant and then hand them over to the new teacher once the bulk of the tantrums, kicking and screaming are over with ☺️

bumblingalonghappily · 19/03/2019 05:56

@TrashKitten10 oh no- that sounds a lot like my old school! I'm also hoping they hire the replacement from September- it was done for a colleague at my old school and she had a lovely time sipping tea in the office and planning schemes of work for a few weeks. 😊😊 I suppose if I want that to happen though then I need to tell them soonish.
So many decisions to make!

AcatcalledGary · 19/03/2019 06:20

@TrashKitten10 OMG how amazing would that be (replacement from September) unfortunately as I’m working in a secondary that isn’t yet ana academy I just don’t think we have the funds to do that. In fact I’m already bracing myself for hem telling me they won’t replace me and instead will give my hours to non specialists (this has happened before!)

Ladybirdgal · 19/03/2019 06:51

Heeey,

I'm joining you guys with a November due date. Just found out late last night. Not gonna lie, I'm in a bit of a shock as it's completely unexpected. We have a 17 month old, I've only just started my job in November with the NHS, we're moving to our first home in a couple of weeks and also planning a wedding for next year so a baby wasn't on the cards until another couple of years. Fiancé was shocked but now is really excited whereas it still hasn't hit me. Really worried about telling work too.

FirstTimeMama91 · 19/03/2019 07:03

Crazy dreams and needing to get up and pee during the night 🙈 roll on bedtime later!

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 07:34

@bumblingalonghappily in yen no way possible way lovely I’d stop taking your BBT. It’s going to cause you stress and anxiety. If you’re not bleeding or in pain you’ve got no reason to think anything is wrong and you are pregnant! I know it’s hard I’ve had multiple losses and stress constantly. Every toilet trip I checked for blood for like a week but I’ve been trying to just accept if I wipe and no blood I don’t need to start poking around to check there definitely isn’t any. It causes me so much anxiety

BBT can be effected by sleep as well so if your sleep patterns have changed it’s not going to accurately track.

I’d advise booking an early scan to reassure yourself lovely xx

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 07:47

*in the nicest possible way

Walktwomoons · 19/03/2019 07:48

Hi all! I'm due Nov 2nd... May I join u?
@bumblingalonghappily don't take your bbt! There is so much misinformation out there and a lot of the women whose charts you see online are just guessing at what their chart means... Only a specialist doctor can tell you how much of that variance is normal, or due to different wakeup times. The best thing you can do for your baby is relax.

Why don't you go for an early scan if you're concerned? That's what I'm doing, I've got one booked for next weekend when I'll be just turning 9 weeks. They offer them as early as 6 weeks although I think that's too early since you really want them to be able to find the heartbeat and 6 weeks might be more inconclusive.

Aph413 · 19/03/2019 07:54

@bumblingalonghappily your bbt can vary wildly when you're pregnant. Put the thermometer away, all it's going to do is cause you unneeded stress. I kept taking my bbt in a pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage and I really wish I had stopped and tried to enjoy the pregnancy.

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 08:08

@Walktwomoons welcome!

Unsureursula · 19/03/2019 08:47

Welcome Ladybirdgirl and Walktwomoons!

So the dry heaving over the toilet bowl started for me this morning! Awful! Managed to force myself to eat some cornflakes before I left for work! Feeling awfully sorry for myself! Lol

Mintypea5 · 19/03/2019 09:22

@Unsureursula poor you! I got hit by a sudden strong wave of nausea on the school run. 🤢

Feelingsolow12345 · 19/03/2019 09:32

@ladybirdgal same here regarding a baby sooner. We've just moved into our first purchased house in October and we're getting married may next year. Wasn't expecting to get pregnant again till after the wedding at least. My partner is over the moon and he's like we can get through it and I went you'll have to help with the planning now and surprisingly he pulled a deaf one haha.
