@Littleseed ah good luck I'm excited for you! ThanksStar

Mintypea5 · 18/03/2019 12:31

Those cards sound like anlovelybway to announce Smile

Ruthsoph · 18/03/2019 12:43

i have my scan booked for friday when i would be 7+3 but my last period was 30/1 but my conception was around 14/2 so that actually makes me 5+3 on day of scan - or will they trat me as 7+3??

bumblingalonghappily · 18/03/2019 12:54

Ah thanks for being so reassuring everyone! You're all brilliant 😊 am now feeling really period crampy but trying not to think about it.

@Littleseed if you search for pregnancy announcement on Etsy there are loads of cute cards and ideas 😊 my current but silly favourite is a t shirt that has a picture of a dinosaur and the work 'pregosaurus' on the front- I was thinking I could wear it under a hoody and then at some point unzip it to reveal the t shirt and see who ends up spotting it first. OR as I'm going to tell them at Easter I thought I could give everyone else a normal chocolate egg and then present my mum with this: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/99714768/crack-me-pregnancy-egg-announcement?ref=shophomeefeat1&eppclick=1&bes=1

@FirstTimeMama91 it's great to know you're a teacher as well? Have you had any thoughts yet on when you're going to tell your headteacher, and when you might come back from maternity leave? I know September 2020 would be the sensible time so I don't get give a crappy timetable, but I really want to take the full 12 months if I can!

bumblingalonghappily · 18/03/2019 12:59

@aimingfor2019 haha I'm constantly boob poking as well!! I did read though that's it completely normal for symptoms to come and go in waves.

AcatcalledGary · 18/03/2019 13:04

@bumblingalonghappily and @FirstTimeMama91 I'm a teacher too! I've already told my head of faculty but will tell the head after my 12 week scan.

Me and DH have been talking about me taking November to May or June off so 7/8 months then I only have to go back for July for a few weeks then off again for summer. He's going to take a couple of months too but we need to work out finer details. I'd love to go 50/50 for parental leave as we are both very keen to raise a feminist family but you can't get in the way of Biology regarding breastfeeding. Plus I figure my body will need some recovery time after giving birth! So yeah I'll be doing the bulk of parental leave myself.

We also talked about booking a holiday during term time whilst we're on leave as normally we don't have the luxury of cheaper holidays. Either of you planning on doing that?

Littleseed · 18/03/2019 14:43

@thumper59 I'm the same! Shock I thought I was the only person in the World with a phobia of getting sick! I have no idea what it is about vomitting!

Feelingsolow12345 · 18/03/2019 14:51

@littleseed I have a phobia of being sick too and if I didn't know how to stop myself from being sick I'm pretty sure if have already ruined the toilet

thumper59 · 18/03/2019 14:58

@Littleseed it's horrible isn't it, feeling sick sends me into a panic which makes me feel more sick! It makes me go light headed and loose my legs and get generally very upset! I have that and a phobia of strong medication. I only ever take paracetamol if I really really need it, so I'm hoping to look down the hyponbirting route. Think that will work best for me!

Ruthsoph · 18/03/2019 15:01

Is anyone really constipated? if so what are you taking? thanks x

Nowthenforever2019 · 18/03/2019 15:03

Ruthsoph - i think you'll be 7weeks as they'll take it from lmo not conception.

Drink lots and lots of water and prunes and pears will help xx

Unsureursula · 18/03/2019 15:05

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil

Yes to fluctuating body temperature! Was in a meeting this morning and had to take my cardi off- everyone else said it was a lovely temp! Yesterday I kept saying it was freezing at home even though radiator was 27.5 and DP was in a tshirt!

tigsyboo · 18/03/2019 15:35

@Ruthsoph
I had to go to docs this morning with my constipation! I was in agony all weekend
I finally made myself 'go' with a system I found on internet
First thing in morning on empty stomach
Take 1 large spoon of olive oil
Drink 2 glasses of prune juice
Wait 45 min
Drink 2 glasses of cloudy apple juice

It provide some relief after around an hour of drinking apple juice (after 4 days of nothing) but dr today prescribed me laxido sachets twice a day for at least a week to try and get me slightly more regular again x

PrayingandHoping · 18/03/2019 15:37

@Ruthsoph I will second prune juice. Takes a few hours to have an effect on me but it does work.

tigsyboo · 18/03/2019 15:37

Also @Ruthsoph sit on the loo with your feet raised- I put mine on the bathroom bin - it makes it a straight drop for the poo without the kinks and bends of your rectum so makes it much easier x

OhMarnie · 18/03/2019 16:03

I haven't been properly sick yet but I'm getting to the point where the thought of particular foods are turning my stomach and I don't know what I can and can't face until it's put in front of me 😣 today I had a Greek salad for lunch which I have loads and I honestly couldn't eat it, the thought of it now makes me heave. So I didn't have much for lunch which probably doesn't help. Why can't I have aversions to junk food instead 😂 all I want to eat right now is toast and crisps!

Ruthsoph · 18/03/2019 16:22

OhMarnie i am exactly the same - usual dinners that we have i just cant stomach them but put a chinese take away in front of me and i am a happy woman!
Trying to be more healthier this week as i was already around 5lbs over my normal weight before i got pregnant and all this junk food is so not helping x

ChesMum2019 · 18/03/2019 16:34

@tigsyboo I've been given that. Now on 4 a day and still not made any difference Confused

keepforgettingmyusername · 18/03/2019 16:45

@Nowthenforever2019 I'm due the day before you and I'm 5+4 so I think you've miscalculated how far along you are.

Pollypocket5 · 18/03/2019 16:50

Does anyone get sore breasts on and off. I've had really sore boobs but today they aren't so bad. I've not got cramping or bleeding or anything. Just worried my only pregnancy symptom is going!

tigsyboo · 18/03/2019 16:57

Oh no @ChesMum2019
I honestly feel your pain! I was in tears on Saturday night.
I really would suggest trying the olive oil / prune juice / apple juice combo.... it didn't have spectacular effects but gave me the passage of a normal day with must have cleared enough out to switch
of the pain.
Something that was also suggested to me was eating sugar free sweets (Aldi do them by the tills) as they 'go through' some people - but I know they don't have that affect on me. Eating 7/8 of those if they do affect you will get you going!!

ChesMum2019 · 18/03/2019 17:03

I suffered before hand and have ibs but this is a whole new level ConfusedI'll give anything a go they said I can go up to 8 sachets a day but I'm struggling with 4 making me gag as my sickness has hit full force the last few days.

Hayley89 · 18/03/2019 17:03

@thumper59 @Littleseed @Feelingsolow12345 fellow emetophobe over here. I can't stand being sick and the thought of it sends me up the wall in a panic. I'm thinking of getting hypnosis for it - it worked for me to quit smoking and that in itself was a miracle so I'm thinking it can't hurt for my phobia too!

bumblingalonghappily · 18/03/2019 17:06

@AcatcalledGary yay hello! We hadn't even though about being able to go on a cheap summer holiday for once- that's a fab idea!! I had considered going back just before the summer hols to be back on full pay, but dh thinks (probably quite rightly) that I would get to September then be really annoyed with myself that I had committed to going back earlier than I could have, and that it might be a shame to miss out on the last 2-3 months of mat leave. It's just so awkward in teaching though! Also, a TLR post has just come up for next year and it's been heavily hinted to me that I should go for it, but I would feel really bad accepting it then telling them a few weeks later about the pregnancy.

Also I love the idea of shared leave, as does my husband, but financially it's just not sensible sadly with us as he earns so much more than me.
