@Ruthsoph hope the scan goes well. It’s really stressful when symptoms fluctuate isn’t it? My boobs haven’t hurt at all this time

Knickersononeshead · 14/03/2019 15:10

Sicky and either terrible gas or extreme trapped wind here!

Hello to all the new ladies joining and congratulations on all your BFP's!

Myself and the kids have had a sad duvet day today. Our youngest cat died during the night and the kids are heartbroken. Me too of course but my emotions are flying all over the place. DP will be burying her when he gets home under our apple tree 😞

I ended up falling asleep whilst we were all snuggled up so have woken up feeling a bit spaced out.

My booking in appt with midwife is next Wednesday but I'm also at the hospital the day before seeing consultant/diabetic nurse/dietician and a midwife there and I have no idea what's going off with the appt. Its definitely going to be a long day.

Waitingformyrainbow · 14/03/2019 15:17

@Ruthsoph I've been the same, I've also got a scan next week at 7+3! What day are you going? I'm not until Friday. Lots of luck xx

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 15:17

@Knickersononeshead sorry about your cat Sad. Sounds like a busy week for you next week. Good luck with all the appointments.

I’m all sniffles today. I seem to remember with DS2 I got like allergy like symptoms during the early weeks. Constantly sneezing and feeling hayfever like

TheGruffalosLoveChild · 14/03/2019 15:18

Oh Knickers, I am so so sorry. That’s horrible Sad. How traumatic for you all Flowers x x x

FirstTimeMama91 · 14/03/2019 15:24

@Mintypea5 ok thanks feel more reassured now! Just haven't a clue about all of this lol Grin

thumper59 · 14/03/2019 15:41

@Knickersononeshead sorry about your cat ☹️

I work with my family and see my mum and dad all the time at other times, I'm struggling like mad in a morning to feel human in time to get to work, I hope nobody twigs in before Mother's Day before I tell them 🤔 I don't want to tell them without a scan pic but think sickness will give me away at this rate!

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 15:51

Is anyone planning to hold off telling people past 12 weeks? I’m a bit conflicted because SiL just had a baby so I don’t want to “steal their thunder” by telling too soon. I’m sure I’m just over thinking it and she’s lovely so wouldn’t care but I worry it will look bad 🤦🏻‍♀️

worriedmomtobe1 · 14/03/2019 15:52

Is everyone taking folic acid and Vitamin D supplements only or are you taking omega 3 as well?
I am so confused. Apparently according to NHS Folic acid and vitamin D should be fine ( i am taking pregnacare original) but then i saw pregnacare max and there was an additional daily omega 3 tablet in there which when i searched on says it is great for baby's brain development....
I can not bear the sight of fish these days ...any of the ladies taking omega 3 capsules daily?

Smiffette · 14/03/2019 15:53

@worriedmomtobe1 I just take pregnacare original. I'm sure that will be just fine Smile

Smiffette · 14/03/2019 15:56

@mintypea5 I am in a similar situation my SiL is due next week at which point I'll be 7+2 so I'm hoping by the time another 5/6 weeks have passed and I've had the scan it will be ok....
Saying that DH and I want to try and go as long as possible without telling people. I guess that will depend how quickly I show! It's our first so it's nice it being our special thing at the moment! Smile

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 15:59

@worriedmomtobe1 I’m taking the pregnacare original because I asked DH for folic acid and that’s what he brought back but other pregnancies I just had folic acid

QforCucumber · 14/03/2019 15:59

Minty we haven't really told anyone bar both of our closest friends. Won't be until after the 12 week scan.

I'm taking the superdrug pregnancy vitamins which are fab, and a hell of a lot cheaper than the pregnacare ones.

Recommend you sign up for all the clubs too - the boots one is fantastic! With Ds we ended up with 25% off a car seat and as you get triple points we bought his monitor in their Jan sale and gained over £30 worth of points on it too!

ally62442 · 14/03/2019 16:17

I haven't told two of my closest friends but have told a couple of them. My two really good friends are really struggling with fertility and have been for a couple of years. Both of them were great and really happy for me when I fell pregnant with my son. But at the same time I know it really broke one of them emotionally. An when he was born she made a sarcastic comment that was a bit bitter about how I was gonna be popping them out now. So I'm really scared to tell her with the gap being close together between my babies. I love her to pieces we've been mates since we were 11. I just don't want to hurt her feelings. Especially when she confinds in me how hard she finds it to be around pregnant woman at work etc. So I'm gonna leave it till 12 weeks at least.

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 16:20

Oh gosh, getting an appointment can be a dreadful wait @FirstTimeMama91.

I'm the same as you, first time mama and had no idea how anything worked. Incidentally I booked an appointment in advance, without knowing about BFP later down the line, so that was how I got my appointment.

The wait they've given you is insane though! With our surgery and (others as well), if you pre-book, they give you one weeks away, but you can also try ringing at 8am in the morning to see if you can get one on the day itself. Maybe your surgery is the same and you can try that?

Ruthsoph · 14/03/2019 16:24

@ally62442 gosh what an awlful situation but its not like you are getting pregnant to spite her -

I am telling everyone after 12 weeks - i want to have the harmony test also so perhaps after that - just want everything 100% - last time i told family at 11 weeks and then when i went for my 12 week scan they told me baby had died at 6.5 weeks - so having to tell family again was heartbreaking - but everyone is different and should do what suits xx

Prequelle · 14/03/2019 16:26

I told people because

  1. I had to people on the wards I work on because I can't do certain things now, give certain drugs, or go near violent patients
  2. I was struggling to hide it from friends because they know there's no way on God's green earth I would stop drinking otherwise. Plus the size of my boobs has made it obvious, I'm 2 sizes bigger already.
  3. Once you've seen and heard the heartbeat studies suggest the risk of miscarriage drops to 5% so we thought the risk was at an acceptable level to tell people
Littleseed · 14/03/2019 16:30

That is extremely sad. So sorry for you all @Knickersononeshead. Sad

Prequelle · 14/03/2019 16:31

Oh knickers I missed your post. I'm so sorry.

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 16:52

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 16:57

@Prequelle I loved the pregnancy+ app and Oviapregnancy

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 17:04

Ladies has anyone else watched the video on the right hand side about back pain?

I was shocked when she said about using lavender essential oil during pregnancy! Shock Does anyone know if she specifically meant IN the bath? I thought it was ok on a tissue inside your pillow?

Also for those at work, the end of the video has some really useful information on knowing your rights etc- please watch it ladies. Flowers

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 17:06

Oooh ohh that looks GREAT already @Prequelle! Thank you so much!!!!

Is that the name of the app " Pregnancy+" ?
I'm going to head to the app store and look for it!

tigsyboo · 14/03/2019 17:06

Just a quick reply to everyone's posts with my two-Pence worth.... I was advised to take extra vit d and magnesium if you are taking pregnacare original, as it doesn't contain as much as others?
I'm taking Tesco's own and low dose magnesium tablet , a vit d spray and a baby aspirin.

Re decaf.... the best decaf tea (I tried many with last failed pg and this one) is Yorkshire decaf. Tetley was absolutely vile. Twinnings was nice too tho.

Scan tomorrow 7+1. Feel sick after last time 😩
Feel like all symptoms have dropped off since I got scan date, although I am nauseous at times but only when I'm hungry and after the food repeats on me! Also constipated to hell.... maybe I do have symptoms actually. Just so so nervous x
