Aww, thanks for asking @Bean1987. Flowers
The appointment went much better than I expected, thankfully.
I also got my Vitamin D and folic acid subscriptions, and I filled in the exemption form, which will hopefully be signed and sent off today by the reception at the surgery.
I've been getting cramping too, although have no idea how far along I'm meant to be or truly am lol.
I hope you can catch a nap during the day. Flowers

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 12:20

Hi @bumblingalonghappily and welcome to the club! Smile
Yes, the insomnia can be due to excitement and an overactive mind, for sure. Grin I feel that could be part of the reason for me too. On other occasions it's the back pain etc.

About your decaf coffee question, I googled and found this lovely article:

If you're pregnant, limit the amount of caffeine you have to 200 milligrams (mg) a day. This is about the same as 2 mugs of instant coffee.

*How much caffeine?
The amount of caffeine found in some foods and drinks is as follows:

1 mug of instant coffee: 100mg
1 mug of filter coffee: 140mg
1 mug of tea: 75mg
1 can of cola: 40mg
1 can (250ml) of energy drink: up to 80mg – larger cans may contain up to 160mg
1 bar (50g) of plain chocolate: most products on the UK market contain less than 25mg
1 bar (50g) of milk chocolate: most products on the UK market contain less than 10mg
In a day, you will almost reach your 200mg caffeine limit if you have:

2 mugs of tea and 1 can of cola
1 mug of instant coffee and 1 can (250ml) of energy drink*

Taken from: www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/should-i-limit-caffeine-during-pregnancy/

DECAF is totally fine and is suggested as a safe alternative on the nhs link above Smile
I need to switch to decaf tea!

@TrashKitten10

I set up the group and am admin and no one has any idea I've done it, so it won't show

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 12:28

That's great to hear the pain went away @MrsPMT23. Flowers Even better that you've got the day off today too, to have quality time with DD and a more relaxed day.

Littleseed · 14/03/2019 12:35

That's great the other receptionist booked you in for the midwife @TrashKitten10. I find sometimes you do get a different response from a different person at the front desk. I've been told by two different people to wait for the midwife to call me though lol, so I'll have to wait for the call.

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 12:38

I need to call and find out what my new surgery process is but I’m putting it off out of fear it will jinx me

Sleepyquest · 14/03/2019 13:36

@keepforgettingmyusername you've really put my mind at ease a lot so thank you ever so much! Mad that each week it halves the probability. Each day feels like such a big step!!!

Pamplem00se · 14/03/2019 13:47

Can I join?!!!!!
Littleseed thank goodness I'm not the only one experiencing insomnia.... I'm waking at 5ish almost every day and it's exhausting.
Mintypea5 totally with you on the jinxing it front. I booked an appointment... I thought.... for this morning to discuss an ovarian cyst I'm supposed to be seeing a gynaecologist about in a fortnight..... anyway arrive to find that the appointment was actually next week. Lovely receptionist fitted me in with a different GP but ended up semi-inadvertently having my booking in appointment. Now ultra paranoid!!!

So hello to everyone (!) I'm pregnant with DC4. Last year I had a horrendous late-ish MMC in May, around the time of my Grandmother's funeral, Mums inquest (she died by suicide 15 months ago), redundancy and house sale falling through. You couldn't really make it up.... and I found out on my birthday. I've got a lovely new job, the house stuff was all finally sorted today, am doing an Open University course and beginning to process my grief. Super excited about the prospect of another baby but terrified I'm going to lose it..... sorry I sound like such a ray of light there!

I'd be super grateful if someone could add me!

Pamplem00se, 34, DC4 due 18th November

I appear to be on an emotional rollercoaster at the moment. One minute I'm fine the next minute I'm bawling over an RSPCA advert! It probably wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't getting up to pee during the night and waking up super early now too ... is it weird I'm kind of loving it?! Grin

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 13:54

@Pamplem00se sounds like you’ve had a really tough time over the last year. I understand the anxiety especially after. Loss! I check every time I go for a wee because of previous losses and today in the hairdressers I could swear I could feel bleeding but got home and fine.

I sound like a looney! Fingers crossed we’ve all got sticky beans xx

PyjamasForever · 14/03/2019 13:56

I'm doing the same @MintyPea5. I don't think I'll fill out the referral form until next week or the week after. Silly really because it won't change what happens, but so paranoid about jinxing stuff.

I'm also suffering morning insomnia @pamplem00se and @littleseed. I've been up at around 4 every day for a week. I could be doing useful stuff but I mostly browse the internet while looking at all the cleaning that needs doing.

I was going to have an early scan at 8+5, but now wondering about having it 2 weeks before which would make it just before Mother's Day. Is that madness? Should I wait?

Pamplem00se · 14/03/2019 14:31

@PyjamasForever there's a pretty big difference between what you can actually see at 6+5 and 8+5. I think 6+5 often doesn't end up being particularly reassuring as it's still very early days and there's nothing that looks remotely like a baby.... if you (can) wait, I would wait until 8+5......which is reassuring and looks like a baby bonus :)
xx

FirstTimeMama91 · 14/03/2019 14:32

Hi all, spoke to GP over the phone today. She explained that I could make an appointment to discuss everything, take my blood pressure and weight etc to see if I'm taking enough folic acid. Phoned doctors there to make appointment and they've given me 29th April when I'll be 10+4 ?? I was hoping to have an appt next week lol. First child and don't know how it usually works. When does everyone else see their GP? Is this the normal process?

Prequelle · 14/03/2019 14:33

I had a 6+1 scan and whilst not an awful lot to see that looks like a baby, you can see the heartbeat and some people can hear it at that stage. It helped reassure me because I was getting one sided pain that I thought was an ectopic. Turned out to be a 3cm cyst

Miller2 · 14/03/2019 14:35

@shefliesonherownwings @thumper59 I can't face anything greasy at all. Bread has been devoured a lot this week though!

OP posts:
Prequelle · 14/03/2019 14:36

How's everyone symptom wise?

I'm still quite lucky. Just the tiredness, sore boobs and sore back.

Pamplem00se · 14/03/2019 14:40

Prequelle I have a 4-5 cm cyst I was supposed to be having dealt with....
I know it's the cyst rather than an ectopic because it's the opposite side of the side I knew I ovulated on this month, but still pretty disconcerting! Sort of nice (sorry!) to hear that someone else has experienced the same.

Symptoms: a bit tired, sore boobs, lower back ache, a bit gassy (sorry tmi!) no sickness yet and half hoping it will kick in soon!
x

Prequelle · 14/03/2019 14:42

I'm hoping mines gone of its own accord by the time it's my next scan! Hope yours doesn't bother you too much.

Oh I forgot about the gas! Tmi but beforehand I probably passed wind like once a day which I know is far below average, so now I have pregnancy wind I'm like WHAT THE FUCK.

Mintypea5 · 14/03/2019 14:49

@FirstTimeMama91 in my area you don’t see the dr at all just refereed to midwifes. Here we have our booking in appointments between 8-10 weeks m. They do blood pressure etc and then check your family history and stuff. Mine took 3 hours last time 😓

Ruthsoph · 14/03/2019 15:02

i am still feeling a bit sicky but boobs arent hurting that much now so thats making me paranoid - everytime i go to the loo it makes me a nervous wreck - have a scan next week when i will be 7+3 so hopefully that will chill me out a bit :>)
Hello to everyone new xx
