Please say yes!

39+1 and as of yesterday afternoon I’ve had a sort of heavy pressure in my bum. Period type pain for the last week or so too. Then from yesterday evening I’ve had a very sharp pain over my bump that lasts maybe 10 seconds or so, although only once every 2 hours ish. Also quite tender lower back ache.

So keen to get things moving now - could this be the slightest hint that things might start to happen soon?!

I'm hoping the lack of updates means that things are progressing for you OP. :) x

Bobbiepin · 07/01/2019 21:10

Thinking of you OP, fingers but not legs crossed for a safe and straightforward delivery.

rainbowstardrops · 07/01/2019 22:01

Ooh still no update! I'm hoping this is a good sign and OP is being amazing right now!

onemorego2019 · 07/01/2019 22:04

Commenting so I get the update! Go go go OP!! Xxx

TokyoSushi · 07/01/2019 22:10

Oh my, this is an exciting thread! Good luck OP! Thanks

GinGeum · 08/01/2019 04:08

Things aren’t quite going to plan but then when does childbirth ever go to plan! After battling through contractions all day, I had a VE that showed I was still at 4cm at 7.30pm and hadn’t progressed at all! Joy. Am now in CLU having had an epidural (thank the lord). Plan was to induce me but I had got to 6cm so they decided to wait, but am now just waiting on the next VE to see what to do next as it’s 24hrs since waters broke.

Aw I’ve loved reading this thread.

I Had my baby a week ago today and my labour was meant to be this relaxing hypnobirthing birth pool experience with dimmed lighting and my mp3’s Playing- turned out to be an induction (successfully) which all happened in 2 1/2 hours with the most intense back to back contractions (180 seconds instead of 40, no rest inbetween) with me hanging off my OH begging for help with no time for any pain relief. He flew out literally in about 3 mins of pushing!

Not to witter on - just to give perspective, don’t he disappointed about not having a home birth, babies don’t stick to plans!

I would do it all again in a heartbeat. There really is no better feeling and I’m so excited for you to feel it. I had a little boy too, the best thing that ever happened to me.

Good luck and rest now whilst you can! Cant wait for the updates!

GinGeum · 08/01/2019 04:50

Thank you! I feel surprisingly calm and accepting of everything so far. Probably helped by how bloody wonderful it felt when the epidural kicked in Grin

I'm glad you're ok. It sounds like you're doing wonderfully so far. I'm about to head in for my induction today and your thread has reminded me to keep an open mind. At my ve yesterday my cervix is still posterior and closed so I can't pretend I'm not daunted.
You've got this now though. You've got through all the grunt work at home, hoping it all goes smoothly from now on Thanks

GinGeum · 08/01/2019 05:35

Just had VE and at 8cm now, woohoo! Finally getting somewhere. Quite satisfying to have him born on the actual due date too.

Good luck today with induction Bitch - all pregnancy I was dead against being induced for any reason at all, but when it actually came down to it in the moment, I just didn’t care. Childbirth is a funny old thing.

Hope you can get some rest through your last 2cm. You're doing amazingly, I hope I can be half as positive Star

ScotsBaby2 · 08/01/2019 05:43

Good luck Gin! I hope the last 2cm go quickly. Enjoy baby snuggles x

KitKat1985 · 08/01/2019 06:12

Ahh fab to hear you are at 8cm. I know it wasn't the home birth you wanted but in my humble opinion as long as you and baby are okay then that's the most important thing. You must be shattered though! Still if you are 8cm now hopefully you might be having newborn snuggles by lunchtime! xx

rainbowstardrops · 08/01/2019 06:28

You're doing great!!! I couldn't wait to check my phone this morning for your update!
Keep going, you're nearly there

GinGeum · 08/01/2019 07:21

The anaesthetist said to me while doing the epidural ‘so this is your third child? Or second?’ and when I responded ‘first’ he just replied ‘and you wanted a Home birth?! You two are crazy’ Grin
I said all along I just wanted to start at home and stay as long as possible, and I’m rather proud of myself for powering through 8 odd hours of contractions at home Smile
Poor DH is currently lying on the hospital floor snoozing. He’s knackered. The whole time we were at home, I wanted to be alone to deal with contractions, but he felt too guilty to snooze on the sofa. I am tired but also have lots of adrenaline keeping me going. Hopefully not too much longer to wait! Thank you all for your support too by the way!

A due date baby, I think that’s quite rare! I hope the rest of the birth goes smoothly. Good luck!

MyOtherProfile · 08/01/2019 08:15

Why did he think you were crazy to want a home birth for your first? Loads of people do.

Really hope things are going well...

Nolagerformethanks · 08/01/2019 08:47

Awww today is my due date but he appeared nearly 4 weeks early. I hope all goes well for you, sounds like you have done amazing so far! Smile

BellMcEnd · 08/01/2019 10:26

Ah, you’re doing brilliantly. Well done on keeping so calm. Best of luck!

rainbowstardrops · 08/01/2019 12:25

I hope baby is here!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 08/01/2019 12:36

How are you getting on? Hope you’re having lovely baby snuggles Bear

tinatsarina · 08/01/2019 13:07

How's things OP? Hopefully baby is here?

GinGeum · 08/01/2019 14:45

He is here at long last! I’ve developed sepsis so we are both on IV antibiotics but the birth was lovely (eventually!). Tiny bit of intervention needed because the infection made my contractions really short so I couldn’t push him out, but I said yes to medical students and in the end we were all laughing away together. Wasn’t what we planned but lovely all the same. He has been taken down to neonatal (I think) for antibiotics but he is gorgeous and doing very well despite it all!

Aw congratulations Flowers hope you both recover from the birth and infection quickly.

PutOnAHappyFace · 08/01/2019 14:58

Congratulations. So pleased to read this update.

Hope you recover quickly and get to take your beautiful baby home for lots of cuddles.
