Could this be the very start of labour?

Please say yes!

39+1 and as of yesterday afternoon I’ve had a sort of heavy pressure in my bum. Period type pain for the last week or so too. Then from yesterday evening I’ve had a very sharp pain over my bump that lasts maybe 10 seconds or so, although only once every 2 hours ish. Also quite tender lower back ache.

So keen to get things moving now - could this be the slightest hint that things might start to happen soon?!

Oh I love a live birth thread. Good luck!

harrypotterfan1604 · 05/01/2019 11:01

It’s really frustrating isn’t it :( I’ve had a few false alarms and every time try not to get my hopes up but I’m so done with being pregnant it’s hard not to.
Have you got a ball? Get bouncing if you have! I’m fully invested in this thread now as it’s taking my mind off being overdue and miserable so expect me to be here a lot today haha 😂

shecamefromgreece · 05/01/2019 11:04

Grr how annoyingGrin
Honestly though without sounding completely cheesy every little contraction is getting you a tiny bit closer even though it doesn't feel like it!
I was in slow labour for a week with my fourth (he obviously didn't get the memo he was supposed to fly outHmm) but when it came to the real deal it all rammed up quite quickly.
Have you got a ball you could bounce on?

Bitchfromhell · 05/01/2019 11:08

I'm 39 weeks and had similar to you all Christmas week. Turned out baby had turned back to back and was irritating my uterus. Hopefully you aren't experiencing the same and this will turn into labour but I just wanted to warn you not to get your hopes up too high. Thanks

GinGeum · 05/01/2019 11:23

I’ve got a ball... going to have a snack and then get bouncing. I don’t want to lose hope just yet, there’s still definitely something happening I think, but I will try and be patient if it’s not quite the right time

I'm just here for the live birth thread Grin
Good luck op, get bouncing on that ball Flowers

KylieJennersTopLip · 05/01/2019 11:57

Oooo good luck OP it's sounds like something is definitely happening and lovely to write it all down so you can look back over things Grin

Tiredmum100 · 05/01/2019 12:17

Sounds similar to me with my second dc, felt like I was in a 'slow labour' for about 24 hours before he was born. He came in about 4 hours once I was in 'established Labour'. Hope this is it for you! Best of luck! X

Darkstar4855 · 05/01/2019 12:41

Keep active! I went into labour at 39+1 the day after a long Christmas shopping trip and supermarket shop followed by an evening out in a pub where the toilets were upstairs. Clocked over 10,000 steps, waters broke and contractions started very quickly the next day.

GinGeum · 05/01/2019 12:50

I’ve now cleaned the entire house so he better come soon before we mess it all back up again Grin

I’ve got a sort of low lying pain the same as this morning but it’s not coming in waves as it was before, more just there constantly but not as sore.

It sounds like something is happening OP. Definitely get bouncing on that ball! Good luck. xx

GinGeum · 05/01/2019 13:30

I think the contractions are back, 9 minutes apart now, eek! Feeling very weary so I’m going to have a lie down and hope it doesn’t make them all stop again

Things are definitely happening I'd say! Good idea to have a rest if they are.

harrypotterfan1604 · 05/01/2019 13:50

Eeeeeek!

Dorabean · 05/01/2019 14:03

Oooh how exciting! I love these threads! All the best OP!

OneMoreWish · 05/01/2019 14:07

Good luck! Xxxx

m4rdybum · 05/01/2019 14:11

Woo - we're all waiting with baited breath Grin

Chocolateheaven123 · 05/01/2019 14:18

Even though it's starting and stopping, it does all sound very promising and something is happening.

Exciting! Good luck Grin

GinGeum · 05/01/2019 17:54

Not a lot is happening, haven’t had any regular contractions since having a sleep. My bump is so tight and tender though. Secretly hoping it all kicks off during the night tonight!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 05/01/2019 18:11

Oh sorry to hear it’s all slowed down! Hopefully it’s just your body having a final rest before showtime! Brew

W0MANlikeME · 06/01/2019 06:57

Any news overnight op?

GinGeum · 06/01/2019 09:06

Sadly not, other than sleeping terribly there’s nothing to report! Will try ball bouncing and walking again today. I’m feeling very tender down below but I don’t know if that’s all just part of it getting ready. Feeling very emotional and irritable Sad

Hot curry? Fresh pineapple? Sex? They never worked for me but some people swear by them Grin

Bobbiepin · 06/01/2019 10:23

It's understandable to be frustrated, maybe try some guided meditation to help destress. Cortisol will slow things down so you want to be as relaxed as possible (my NCT teacher suggested a glass of wine in early labour for this reason - take what you will from that).

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 06/01/2019 10:29

Definitely try to relax! As PP said, feeling stressed will stop your labour dead in its tracks. Although I don’t agree with a glass of wine - you don’t know what might happen and alcohol does not interact well with many drugs. Hope things get going again today Cake
