Babies due

Hi ladies

I'm due tomorrow. This will be my first spontaneous labour so it's mostly a new experience for me.

Just wanted to see if they're any other ladies out there who are near, on or over their due date who want to share any progress and/or early warning signs of labour they're getting.

Yesterday I had major hot flush, sweating and shaking. My dog was also acting a bit weird. But still not signs of baby coming.

Today I'm going to have a nice relaxing bath and hope for the best.

Due today! Had a failed sweep yesterday, head is engaged and very low but the midwife could get in for a good sweep Hmm
Braxton Hicks have really ramped up in the past few days but they aren't painful so I'm not hopeful for anytime soon! X

Chardeemacdennis1 · 01/12/2018 16:08

Did you ask to have a sweep?

I've not even had braxton hicks yet Sad

I'm so impatient for baby to come out.

My due date was yesterday, first baby so not sure what to expect. I've had some pains on and off, worse ones happened today after walking around shops, came back sat on my ball and had shooting pains down there.. for a little while but have now faded away. Going on another walk later as walking seems to cause pains to start, not sure if it's the right kind of pain though but hopefully won't hurt to try.
I'm booked to see midwife for a sweep on Thursday, and induction booked for 40+13 if I haven't popped by then

MummyInHeel · 01/12/2018 17:16

Hi all, I'm due Monday. Had signs for weeks... but babys staying toasty. Long walks and pineapple all round?!

Chardeemacdennis1 · 01/12/2018 17:24

I've also had shooting pains in the vjj.

My midwife didn't mention sweeps. Do they actually work? She just said induction would be booked 40 +12 if baby doesn't make a move on her own.

Is pineapple suppose to bring on labour? I'll have to get some.

I was due Monday.... failed sweep on Tuesday, trying again tomorrow and induction on Friday if nothing happening by then! I'm blaming the bad weather. I wouldn't want to come out in this either. X

balalalala · 01/12/2018 21:38

I'm due Monday too. My dd was born by now so feeling quite impatient! My midwife isn't working this week so I don't have an appointment until I'm 41+1 so won't even get a sweep before then. I'm pretty sure this baby hasn't engaged yet. Lots of dog walking and bouncing on my ball!

Chardeemacdennis1 · 01/12/2018 21:39

Fingers crossed your baby will make their way out soon @Emma765

I think my baby is head down, but my bump hasn't dropped.

I'm 10 days over with number 2.

I've had 3 sweeps, one at 39+5 one 40+6 and one 41+1 not in labour yet!

Stargirl90 · 01/12/2018 22:24

Hopefully we all start going into labour soon! I've been on another walk lol just wish these pains would ramp up to something instead of dying off

Mintmrs · 01/12/2018 22:52

I’m due on Thursday. First baby, hoping for a sweep on Tuesday as midwife is off the following week but she did say they don’t usually do them before 40 weeks and she is only newly qualified. Because of GD my induction is booked for a week on Wednesday so no other chance for any sweeps I don’t think.
I’ve had 1 episode of BH last week but no other signs xx

ND348 · 02/12/2018 10:32

Had stronger BH in the night which included back pain for the first time but all died down this morning...

Stargirl90 · 02/12/2018 13:11

My pains have mostly died off this morning too.
Had period pains on and off in the night and first thing before I got out of bed. Feeling a bit hot and super thirsty today, going to the loo a lot as well.. hoping these all mean something, i'm not very comfortable anymore so just want things to hurry up.
Anyone feeling nervous for the labour? I've never done it before so think I'm in a bit of an 'ignorance is bliss' bubble

Chardeemacdennis1 · 02/12/2018 17:18

Every twinge I get I think, is this it. But nothing.

I'm not too worried about labour. Just want it to be as natural as possible. Can't wait to meet my little girl.

MummyInHeel · 02/12/2018 17:55

No need to be nervous about the labour star girl, what will be will be and you WILL cope just fine.

Stargirl90 · 02/12/2018 23:13

I'm watching 'Emma Willis delivering babies' at the min which admittedly isn't helping me feel any less nervous, it's gonna hurt a lot and may be traumatic and that's what frightens me.
But then women do this every day, they all survive it and say it was worth every second to meet their baby, so that's what I'm aiming towards as the end result will be worth it. It's just pretty scary.
Up until yesterday I've not felt nervous at all it's just started up from no where

FoxgloveStar · 03/12/2018 07:28

Hi everyone. I’m 38+4 and impatient already! This is my second baby. First was out by 40+5.

On sweeps, basically my understanding is that they are only effective at “tipping you over the edge” into labour. So if your cervix is closed and not ready for birth a MW poking around isn’t going to do much. However if you are already starting to open and soften then a sweep can get things started a little earlier than they otherwise would. I had 3 with DS1 as they were keen I didn’t go over (pre-existing health condition). Not sure any of the three did anything. This time I’m seeing midwife at 39+6 and intend to accept a sweep then.

I’m super nervous and impatient already and I could have weeks to go yet!

Chardeemacdennis1 · 03/12/2018 07:52

@Stargirl90, you'll be fine. Millions of women do it everyday. It's what your body is designed to do. Once it all starts you'll be so swept up in it you won't be able to think.

And you can always have pain killers if it hurts too much. X

@FoxgloveStar

Thats good to know. I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow, I feel like I could be close so a sweep might give baby the push she needs.

Hi congratulations all, let’s hope we get moving soon. I’m due on Wednesday with my first.

I’m pretty impatient now. I wake up through the night with mildly painful BH but they disappear straight away when I empty my bladder. I keep ‘checking’ to see if my waters have broken...I have no idea what it’s supposed to look/feel like. Haven’t managed any antenatal classes but that’s another story.

I have a growth scan tomorrow because the baby has been measuring above the 90th percentile so far. He was estimated to be 7lb 3oz at 36+9 weeks...and apparently has a massive head

Angharad07 · 03/12/2018 13:59

*36+6 weeks

Chardeemacdennis1 · 03/12/2018 14:56

I'm hopeful every time I go to the loo that I might find my plug but still nothing.

Been swimming and Xmas shopping this morning in the hope that will get things moving but still nothing.

Hopefully all goes well at your growth scan @Angharad07

Back pains joining my Braxton Hicks but not regular yet.... not holding out too much hope!

Chardeemacdennis1 · 04/12/2018 09:22

Any labour's started this morning?

I got some pains last night and panicked a bit as I'm home alone - but it wasn't anything. Seeing midwife today.
