We've run out of room so let's start again.

New people welcome. The group aims to support those who are pregnant post difficulty.

All are welcome - we are aimed at 12 week plus as those early weeks are a different kind of roller coaster and another group exists for support then. However you are welcome here too if you want to join.

Some of us have been here a while and nearly ready to pop. Others already had their babies.

Welcome one and all xxx

@emalady - I just took a blanket with holes in it. I don’t know the name of it but i’m Sure you know the ones I mean.

@SouthernBella74 - like @Liverpool19, I also had a positive induction experience. Mine was my second DC so always going to be a bit quicker than first time around but I was only in active labour for about 4 hours. I got a couple of sweeps the day of my induction and the week before and I think they probably helped. My waters broke naturally so although I had a couple of pessaries, it felt natural.

Fox23 · 13/12/2018 21:24

@emalady same as @swimchick1980 I took cellular blanket. Growbags are not really suitable in hospital. My DD has now decided that she HATES anything that covers her- growbags, blankets etc ... so I wait till she is completely asleep then I sneaky cover her.
Btw- she slept all night again last night!!!!! 9-5 and then bit more till 8!!!!

Janefx40 · 13/12/2018 22:45

Go @Fox23 junior! Sleeping all night is good going.

I'm not sure I would have bought all these sizes - I just got given a lot!

@SouthernBella74 before c-section came up, I was going to resist induction at 39 weeks but let them do it at 40. My understanding is that induction works well if you are more or less ready but not when your body isn't ready. Do you want to read the paper about inductions for over 40 that is based on ? If so I can share it with you.

@southernbella I was really stressed about the idea of induction but feel more relaxed after reading the rcog guidelines - probably not for everyone but the numbers are better than I thought. I'm going to use some acupuncture once I hit term and see if that helps start things off or at least make it more "favorable".

@fox23 I really hope I get one that sleeps! I do have a couple of cellular blankets for the pram so will pack those instead of the grobags. Hopefully she will tolerate them. It's so strange how some babies want to be swaddled and some refuse all covers. Difficult to predict what will work for you.

SouthernBella74 · 14/12/2018 09:11

@swimchick1980, it is so good to hear about the positive stories. So far, I’ve had a pretty good pregnancy, so I hope it ends just as well! 😃

@janefx40, yes, if you could send me the paper on inductions over 40, that would be great. I’d like to have as much info as possible to make a decision, as the hospital hasn’t given me any really!

My baby moves around so much, maybe the little one will come early/on time and I won’t have to worry about induction. 😂

I also have a cellular blanket. I’ve been advised to sleep with it a few days before hand, so it has me and my partner’s scent & bacteria on it.

swimchick1980 · 14/12/2018 10:10

@SouthernBella74 - I was very anti induction too but the consultant recommended it for me as I had some bleeding so in the end the decision was taken out of my hands, which made it easier really. My induction was due at 40 weeks but the consultant said that 39 weeks was the safest time statistically.

Liverpool19 · 14/12/2018 10:35

emalady you can only use grobags if your baby is over 8lb. X

emalady · 14/12/2018 13:32

@liverpool19 I didn't really think about that, I sort of assumed she probably will be that big but the hospital is really hot anyway so probably a cellular blanket is a better option initially anyway.

Liverpool19 · 14/12/2018 16:03

They give you blankets in the hospital but if you haven’t got a car seat fut muff which we have you will need one to come home or a snow suit. X

emalady · 15/12/2018 07:04

I have a couple of snow suits but was going to get one of the blankets for the car seat that attach on as I don't want to have to strip her out of the snow suit to go in the car. Although it may be warmer by Feb, or colder I guess.

Liverpool19 · 15/12/2018 09:30

emalady yes it’s so much easier than a snow suit. I just put a thick cardi on him and into the car seat and he’s all snug, zips right up and he goes asleep 😂 x

Fox23 · 15/12/2018 12:22

@Liverpool19 I agree with you. Snowsuits are great today and probably tomorrow when it’s really cold whilst going for a walk. But I find that they are not good for much else- too much and too thick on a normal day walk or drive.
Wrap on other hand (mine is wrap not zip) is amazing! Keeps baby warm and cozy and when it gets too warm in the car you just unwrap it and it serves as a soft car seat liner.
My parents just left after 3 days here and I must say- it’s so amazing to switch off and let them take over!!! Seriously, I forgot even to rush when she was crying!!! My mum did all that! Now back to reality! 🤦‍♀️

Liverpool19 · 15/12/2018 17:19

Couldn’t agree more fox we are living with my mum still as our house still hasn’t completed and she’s been a massive help hasn’t interfered but been there in the background helping out.
Anyone not breastfeeding, I highly recommend the bottle prep machine. I used it today and it’s an absolute godsend.

Fox23 · 15/12/2018 18:29

@Liverpool19 you mean Tommee Tippee perfect prep machine? Sooooo agree!
Yes, it’s super! My stepdaughter suggested it ages ago, so been using since day one. Makes life so easy at night.
That and Tommee Tippee nappy pile!!!!
And Baby Aveeno lotion- I’m in love it for myself as well

Liverpool19 · 15/12/2018 21:00

That’s the one fox it’s so much easier isn’t it. x

emalady · 17/12/2018 11:46

Wish me luck, after feeling horribly short of breath for a few days and not sleeping for a few nights I have a hospital appointment this pm to check bloods etc in case it's a PE. Feeling a bit stressed.

Liverpool19 · 17/12/2018 12:25

Hope everything is ok emalady have my fingers crossed for you. X

felicityheather · 17/12/2018 12:38

Oh hope it all goes smoothly @emalady. How many weeks are you? Have you had any other symptoms such as high bp or protein in urine?

felicityheather · 17/12/2018 12:40

I've just re read that. Are you talking about pulmonary embolism rather than pre eclampsia? Would make more sense, I'm just a dafty! Either way fingers crossed it goes smoothly.

emalady · 17/12/2018 13:41

Yes, sorry pulmonary embolism rather than pre-eclampsia. BP is still fine and last urine dip was ok so not worried about pre-eclampsia at the moment. Probably all anxiety but better to check. Definitely not the afternoon I had planned.

felicityheather · 17/12/2018 14:33

Like you say, best to check, then hopefully it'll stop you worrying and just be an annoying afternoon of tests etc.

Fox23 · 17/12/2018 15:21

@emalady good luck!!!! All will be ok I’m sure!!!🤞💐

Janefx40 · 17/12/2018 18:19

@emalady hope you are ok. How did the appointment go?

Thinking of you xxx

OP posts:
emalady · 17/12/2018 20:07

@felicityheather @fox23 @janefx40 slightly mixed outcome from the hospital, everything they checked was fine but can't say it's definitely not a clot so I'm on blood thinning injections until Thursday when I've got a lung test and an echo. Hopefully will all be OK. I was told I was brave just getting on with the injection - one benefit of ivf 😂.

felicityheather · 17/12/2018 21:36

Fingers crossed for you xx
