Just found out in 4 weeks pregnant with my 2nd rainbow baby. Was pregnant with 1st in August and unfortunately miscarried. Finding it hard to believe I am again and finding it hard to be positive! :(

Well the doc was lovely but there is literally nothing she could do today as everything is booked centrally (no idea why the receptionist didn't just tell me that when I called on Friday, I really hate wasting precious NHS time). So have called and booked the first midwife appointment for mid-December and my scan on the 31st. Don't think I can last that long, as we want to tell the family at Christmas, so might book a private scan before then.

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 11:48

@ContadoraExplorer I have my midwife appointment November 30th. Came though today and hoping that I get a scan before Xmas day as my 12 weeks is exactly on Xmas day!! If not private 11 week scan it is!

Hi All,

I hope you don’t mind me commenting on this thread, I felt like this was the appropriate one but do let me know if I’m intruding in anyway!

I’m looking for some advice really, as I’m unsure whether I may be pregnant or not? I haven’t had a period for a good 4/5 years now due to being on the Desogrestrel pill, so anything to do with cycles etc. goes straight over my head and doesn’t make my current situation very helpful!

I’ve been with my partner for two and a half years now, we live together and are very happy. Without going into too much detail, we ‘did the deed’ exactly three weeks’ ago today and unfortunately, I missed my pill that evening. (Which never happens btw lol).

For the last two weeks, I’ve had odd symptoms such as tender breasts, spells of dizziness and sickness, last night it was that bad I genuinely thought I was going to pass out. I’m constantly tired; finishing work and going to bed at 8pm most evenings. I keep getting the odd cramping sensation in my lower stomach too.

The obvious question would be whether I have taken a pregnancy test yet or not, I did buy some of the pregnancy test strips from the poundshop over the weekend, as I had read they were quite reliable? I used two of these over the weekend and both came back negative, it may well be that I’m not actually pregnant but when I look at dates etc I also know it was probably too early to test? Anyway; I took one when I woke up this morning and I’m convinced that there’s a really tiny faint line? I’ve added a picture but being honest, this would be my first pregnancy and I don’t know if your body can have a psychological effect on you and make you think you are pregnant? This is all very new to me, I’ve just turned 24 and I don’t have a clue what I’m doing!

Anyway, I’ve bought another test this morning but I’m unsure whether I should give it a few more days until I try again? I’m just looking for some advice and opinions from you lovely lot really, especially as I don’t have periods so I don’t know if my body is just acting odd and it’s all coincidental or whether I may actually be pregnant (which would be a lovely surprise)

Apologies for the long post, felt like I needed to get everything in to make it clear!

Any advice or honesty would be much appreciated x

I had the internet cheapy tests and even with getting my BFP on a FRER two days in a row, including the day my period was due, the cheap ones were still showing negative so I'd test using something else. If you're not in the habit of having those sorts of symptoms, it's definitely worth testing.

ContadoraExplorer · 05/11/2018 12:55

Also, I'm a bit impatient so I'd test now using a more reliable test and, if nothing, I'd give it a few more days and test again.

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 13:03

@Lumon welcome lovely! I'd test now as I can see that too! Xx

That’s great, thank you so much. It’s actually really hard to wait a few days isn’t it! I just want to know what’s happening with my body haha, I’ll buy a more reliable test though. Thanks again Smile

Lumon · 05/11/2018 13:06

@delilah7 I’m glad I’m not the only one who can see something! I didn’t know if it was just me losing the plot Blush xx

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 16:26

Told my grandad - I'm so delighted for you. What wonderful news. he then goes NOW I better hold on hadn't it? 😭😭😭❤️❤️

@Lumon I can definitely see something, if that is a shadow on the cheapy tests, using a frer should give you a clear result :)

RanchoRelaxo · 05/11/2018 16:54

@delilah7 ah that's cute, bet you are glad that you've told him!

RanchoRelaxo · 05/11/2018 16:56

Ps I ordered a 2 pack of frers from Amazon yesterday, and they've sent a pack of 3! 😁 Small things 😂

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 17:25

@RanchoRelaxo majorly!! Result on the FRERs hehehe x

cathyj87 · 05/11/2018 17:33

Oh my god I'm so crap with secrets today in work nearly killed me! Rang the gp for an appointment and was told the next available was 28th Nov so to just go to the open surgery on Friday. I've rejigged my dates because I have a long cycle so am only 5 weeks today, realistically what will they do?

Lumon · 05/11/2018 17:50

@ranchorelaxo omg! Shock What a difference! I’ll definitely be picking one of those up tomorrow! Thank you so much, I’ll keep you posted with the outcome! X

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 17:57

@cathyj87 no much I don't think. Mine won't see me as they don't need to so have to wait to see midwife at 8 weeks :)

Hi ladies, hope you're all feeling well (or as well as can be expected in early pregnancy!). I went to the doctors today expecting them to want a blood test but apparently they just need a urine sample. Also found out it's self referral to the midwife around here so I will ring them tomorrow which is a little exciting as I should hopefully get a date for an appointment/and scan? I still need a blood test to keep an eye on thyroid function so that's on Thursday and I hate needles :( I think I better get used to them quickly though!!

@Delilah7 Aww that's so bittersweet. How is your grandad doing hun? x

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 20:16

@Charm23 I've done that I'd say you only get a midwife appointment and after that you'll get a scan date. My appointment is 30th! He seems to be doing ok Hun. Thanks for asking. 5 weeks tomorrow lol x

I have had to tell my personal trainer as I feel so bloody tired I can't face it this week - and he would need to know to avoid certain lifts too. I feel weird knowing someone other than me and OH know now! Like it might actually be happening or something Shock

Charm23 · 05/11/2018 20:24

@Delilah7 Ooh okay, well I'll be glad to have an appointment in my diary - feeling more real by the day!! I expect my appointment will be around the same date as you as I'm just a day behind you! :D Are you going to talk to your midwife about getting a scan before Christmas? I just have this feeling I will need a private scan if we want a scan photo in time to show family! I can't wait to start telling people more people!

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 20:25

@Charm23 yes she won't do it as I haven't had 3 miscarriages which is fair enough. I'll just go private and have one at 11 weeks I think so I have a scan to tell people at Xmas! X x

OP posts:
Charm23 · 05/11/2018 20:29

@Delilah7 Ah ok, sounds like a plan, I'll probably aim for around then too. I'm so bloody excited! How are you feeling? x

Delilah7 · 05/11/2018 20:37

@Charm23 might even have one earlier tho not sure yet. I'm ok. Very nervous. Had a few cramps but that's about it. Still sore boobs and nausea. Bloating insanely lol. You?? X

OP posts:
Charm23 · 05/11/2018 20:43

@Delilah7 Aww hun I can only imagine what you're feeling with the nerves. Hope it's not stopping you from feeling happy?

I'm good but definitely feel 'different' - feeling much more tired, some slight dizziness, bloated, always hungry, my boobs give the odd twinge and no strong nausea yet. I had some cramps earlier too, they lasted about 5-10 secs and went.
