Hi ladies!
I admit I haven't read the whole thread but I was hoping I could join?
I'm due 28/05 which makes me something like 16+3?
I've stayed off Mumsnet through the first trimester because I can be a super anxious nut but I'm feeling excited and hoped to chat to some of you ladies going through similar things?
I think I felt baby move today? Possibly some movement earlier this week but today I feel more confident that it was baby!

Mikewazowskismrs · 14/12/2018 21:42

@Mummytoboyxx it went well thanks. She confirmed bloods came back ok and downs risk etc is very low 1 in 11700 or thereabouts.

I asked to hear the heartbeat but she said I won’t get to until next appt Envy

But thankfully we have our scan next Friday!

Welcome @felicityheather and congratulations on your pregnancy Grin

Mummytoboyxx · 14/12/2018 21:58

@Mikewazowskismrs glad to hear it went well. Shame about the heartbeat. My midwife said they don’t normally listen for a heartbeat at the 16 week scan but she said she’d do it to put my mind at rest. At least you haven’t got long until your scan. Is it a private gender scan?

Welcome @felicityheather I can definitely feel something, but I have to be concentrating. Is this your first pregnancy? Xx

felicityheather · 14/12/2018 22:47

@Mummytoboyxx this is my first that has gotten through the first trimester. Had four very early miscarriages hence the first trimester anxiety but it all feels very real now! Our midwife was lovely and let me have a listen to heartbeat too which was amazing but she said it's common not to find anything which I guess is why they don't bother?

Mummytoboyxx · 15/12/2018 07:42

@felicityheather you’re probably right. They wouldn’t want anyone to worry unnecessarily if they couldn’t find a heartbeat. So sorry to hear about your losses. This is a rainbow baby for me too Flowers

Floofsquidge · 15/12/2018 08:01

Had our 16 wk appt last week and we heard the heartbeat and is routine here (Berkshire).
The Doppler isn't a stethoscope, it's a device that uses ultrasound technology to emit waves into the uterus which returns an audible simulation of the heartbeat. So I guess some trusts just prefer to limit those scans and do the heartbeat at the 20 wk scan.
No way my anxiety could wait for that and would definitely have gone for private scan for pre-Xmas reassurance! X

Mikewazowskismrs · 15/12/2018 12:19

@Mummytoboyxx this midwife was a bit more awkward with me than the last so I thought right away she would say no. I have friends who heard it in the same place!

But I’m not worrying since I have the scan and yes it’s to find out although we’ve got a card for the sonographer to write the sex in and we’re opening it on Xmas day Xmas Grin

Mummytoboyxx · 16/12/2018 18:01

@Mikewazowskismrs what a lovely Christmas present that’ll be!

Talking of Christmas...has anyone found a decent alcohol-free prosecco or wine that’s not too sweet? Now that I’m no longer feeling sick all the time I think I’m going to miss drinking over Christmas! Xx

felicityheather · 16/12/2018 18:32

Ooh I feel the same @Mummytoboyxx Finally feeling a tiny bit jealous of all the parties and cocktails!

Mikewazowskismrs · 16/12/2018 19:39

@Mummytoboyxx I know ❤️

I had a bottle of alcohol free wine on Friday, it was called muscat and it was lovely !

Mummytoboyxx · 16/12/2018 19:44

@Mikewazowskismrs was that red or white? Might need to give it a try xx

Mikewazowskismrs · 16/12/2018 19:47

@Mummytoboyxx it was white.

My friend also got me this which was nice too - groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/The-Bees-Knees-Alcohol-Free-Sparkling-Rose/380171011

I sound like I am dying for real alcohol but I’m really not Blush

Mummytoboyxx · 16/12/2018 20:10

@Mikewazowskismrs Thanks! I’ve ordered the bees knees one to come with my Christmas shop, so glad you said it’s ok x

Mikewazowskismrs · 16/12/2018 20:22

@Mummytoboyxx aw Excellent means you can feel involved with a wee drink !

I had my work night out Friday & the place we went could do me any of their cocktails without the alcohol so I had a few French martinis which tasted pretty much exactly the same! Could even look at making a cocktail without the alcohol?

Mummytoboyxx · 16/12/2018 20:32

@Mikewazowskismrs virgin cocktails are definitely a good shout xx

Does anybody else feel like their bump grows bigger as the day goes on? I feel like I have just a jiggly belly in the morning, whereas by this point in the day, everything feels a lot tighter and bigger.
I wonder if it's to do with the progesterone levels or something. Just seems a tad odd. Hmm

Lorrie3 · 17/12/2018 17:15

@CeeCee88 no same as you definitely grows as day goes on! I still don’t have much of a bump but noticed it starting to make an appearance since last week !

Rubberduckies · 19/12/2018 07:55

CeeCee88 Yes my bump definitely changes shape during the day. At least I'm finally at a point when I always look pregnant though!

My midwife had a student with her for the 16w appointment and said "Do as I say not what I do" when she offered me a listen to the heartbeat. Apparently they're not supposed to do it till 20 weeks in case they don't find it and it worrying.

I have a really awful cold at the moment and annoyed I can't take any of the cold medicine I would usually take. Feel completely rotten :(

CeeCee88 · 19/12/2018 08:20

@rubberduckies oh my word - me too!! Absolutely dreadful cold and a horrible cough that keeps me up at night.
I'm just using paracetamol and strepsils, which GP said was fine and use menthol crystals to dissolve in hot water to inhale.

Still feeling rubbish, but hopefully it won't last for much longer!

Aww that's nice that your midwife let you hear the heartbeat. Mine didn't, but then the 20 week scan is in January, so I'm ok with that. :)

Bouncer4me · 19/12/2018 09:37

18 week midwife appointment today 😀 whoop whoop let’s hope everything goes ok 😀

felicityheather · 19/12/2018 14:54

Hope it goes well @Bouncer4me. Is an 18 week appointment normal? I've got one but my midwife said they don't normally do one at 18 weeks?

Bouncer4me · 19/12/2018 15:23

Hey it went well thanks baby was wriggling around a lot and heartbeat was lovely and strong. And I’m not too sure to be honest, I had a 16 week appointment and she booked me back in for today’s appointment so I’m not sure if I’m just getting more or that this is normal at my doctors 😀

RiverMeadow · 22/12/2018 20:15

How is everyone getting on?

Has anyone decided on any names? I can't seem to find a single one that I really love!

Mikewazowskismrs · 22/12/2018 21:52

All good here you? Just 3 more sleeps until we find out if we’re blue or pink Smile

We have a few names in mind, will be going for an Italian first name as I’m half Italian so want baby to keep those roots as it’ll be taking my partners surname.

What about you?

RiverMeadow · 22/12/2018 23:13

I absolutely have no idea when it comes to names, I quite like old traditional names but I've not found one I absolutely love!

We found out this week we're having a boy! Absolutely thrilled!
