@plantingandpotting
After reading all the CQC reports I ended up choosing Croydon. Their maternity services had higher scores. But after I self-referred I got an email back from them with most appalling grammar, not a single word had a capital letter, not even her name and she used ‘u’ instead of ‘you’ is the email – an official correspondence from the NHS! Fingers crossed this administrator is not a reflection of the midwives.
So sorry to hear the sickness has kicked in! How were you today? I’m managing to stay unaffected so far. I do have a baby on board badge in my bag just in case I suddenly get caught out on the commute.

I’m very much missing the drink though; I went to a gig last night and was absolutely gagging for a beer! Also feel like I’m spinning an elaborate web of lies as to why I’m not drinking or why I can’t attend a hen do smack bang in the week of my due date. Keeping this under wraps is tricky!

Lilbear14 · 03/10/2018 19:55

@isbellrose I'm feeling the exact same regarding the making excuses.
I've got a few birthdays coming up and I really don't know how I'm going to keep going with the excuses. There's only so many times I can say oh I said I will drive to save taxis before people start asking questions.
My next one might have to be that I'm on antibiotics or something haha

RiverMeadow · 03/10/2018 21:46

@SafariGirl100 how did your scan go lovely? I've got mine tomorrow!

SafariGirl100 · 04/10/2018 08:13

@RiverMeadow Scan was Ok (as in no bad news) but it seems I am more like 5.5 weeks not 6.5 like I thought). Which meant he couldn't tell much other than it was there and seemed the right size for that date.

I will just have to wait for my 12 week scan which is 8th Nov. That seems AGES away and believe it or not I am going to Africa next week for 2 weeks. People will think I am mad but it is a holiday and was booked ages ago. Big trip for me and hubby.

I saw a travel doctor yesterday and he said it is now considered safe to take malaria meds and better that than catching malaria as that is worse for me and baby. I am staying in good places with netting etc and already had my travel jabs years ago so will just have to hope for the best. I am hiking in the forest too for a gorilla trek but have done it before so I know what to expect. I cant believe this miracle has happened right when i have this trip booked 🙈

In some ways it will take my mind off this waiting game but I am basically terrified of the 12 week scan. How do people endure this waiting??? 😆. We must have faith in mother nature 🤞

RiverMeadow · 04/10/2018 10:14

@SafariGirl100 That holiday sounds amazing! It will certainly take your mind off things!

I had my scan this morning, everything was fine and my dates were exact!

@isbellrose I'm sorry, that shouldn't have made me laugh(!)...but text talk in your appointment letter Shock I don't get why they wouldn't use a standard template...

The nausea is wavering in the background, although I really can't whinge too much - it's not like I'm having to sprint to the bathroom, it's more like a niggling distraction. I've been donning my BoB badge for the overground this past week (which I feel oddly guilty about b/c no bump). It's so much nicer not having to stand wedged in.

Oh man, I can totally empathise on the beer thing - I've been on Brewdog's Nanny State - it's pretty good! I'm quite a...reliable/consistent drinker(?), so don't think I'll be able to fool our friends beyond one meet-up.

Was the gig good? So long since I've been to one!

CeeCee88 · 04/10/2018 14:29

Hello Everyone,

Thought I'd jump on the bandwagon here as well...

My wife and I have been referred to our clinic at the beginning of the year and had our first IUI on September 8th.
To our shock (good kind) it actually worked first time and we're now expecting our first little bean together towards the end of May 2019 (if my calculations are correct).

I'm still trying to get my head around the whole how many weeks along am I thing but I think it's 6+1... We've got our first scan booked in with the clinic on the 22nd October and we cannot wait.

I'm a ridiculous worrier though, constantly thinking something will go wrong... Is anyone else feeling like that?
Every little twinge or slight cramp gets over-analysed and I've certainly googled way too many things.

Thankfully I've not got too many crazy symptoms just yet, apart from being super tired and my boobs being super sore.

Has anyone got tips on how to stress less and be a bit more calm about the whole pregnancy?

I was always thinking being pregnant would be lovely, turns out I just stress about everything Blush.

Anyway - congrats to everybody else on here!!

Mummytoboyxx · 04/10/2018 14:45

Welcome @CeeCee88 Congrats on the BFP. All I can say is that with my DS I definitely stressed less after the first 12 weeks, but that anxiety doesn’t really go I’m afraid. In fact it continues until after their born and for the rest of their lives. So it’s probably good to get used to feeling like this...although you feel more in control once they’re here x x

WoogleCone · 04/10/2018 18:35

Welcome @ceecee88! Congratulations! I have my booking in appt on 22nd too - not sure when my scan will come though!

I have no advice on stress, I stressed so much with DD1 in the early days, once I got a good bump I felt like it was real and feeling movements were nicely reassuring. So it will get better! Just get plenty of rest, don't overwork yourself.

I'm 7+1 now and DH came home from work and immediately said I'm showing when he walked in the door. Now nervous as I can't hold it in lol, the cat may be out of the bag pretty soon! Damn bloating 😂

Lilbear14 · 04/10/2018 20:58

I'm stressing more with this one than I have with my other two, but that's because since my youngest I was diagnosed with adenomyosis and so I'm really on edge with it all.
I even took a pregnancy test today just to make sure there was two lines.
I'm so eager to have my scans, I know it will be worth the wait but the wait is driving me mad because I'm so anxious.

RiverMeadow · 04/10/2018 21:59

I completely understand the stress. I feel like once we all get to 12 weeks we will start to calm down a bit more xx

SafariGirl100 · 04/10/2018 22:37

@RiverMeadow Excellent news on the scan. Yay👏🏼👏🏼. I bet you feel loads better.

@CeeCee88 You are not alone in the worrying. I am a wreck and have had to STOP googling. I am normally so chilled but I cannot handle the fact that I have to be patient and wait 6 weeks. It feels like 6 months 😆

SafariGirl100 · 04/10/2018 22:39

Ps. @CeeCee88 My symptoms are the same. Feel fine apart from very tired and sore boobs (plus have gone up a cup size. Bonus). Am hoping ill escape morning sickness. Ha ha

Youvegotafriendinme · 05/10/2018 08:10

Hey everyone. Tuesday I was sick and bad belly nearly all day and I couldn’t keep anything down. It was awful. The sickness comes and goes and is definitely different to when I was pregnant with DS. My boobs are really hurting now and I’m going to have to dig out my maternity bras soon.
I have my booking in appointment Saturday. Right in the middle of my work day! I had to tell my manager who’s thankfully my good friend or else they wouldn’t have let me go.

This time round it doesn’t feel real at all. We tried for nearly 2 years for DS and I spent all the time from first test to 20 weeks an anxious mess and was constantly googling everything. This time round it doesn’t feel real.

CeeCee88 · 05/10/2018 08:30

I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one that's stressing like a little crazy person... Grin

It's so interesting to see how every hospital is different. The scan on the 22nd is also our first appointment since the BFP but I think it may have to do with the protocol of the fertility clinic... Hmm

@wooglecone I better get used to worrying forever more then, eh? :)

@rivermeadow Absolutely - I just can't believe how slooowly the time is going. I thought the TWW was bad... but having to wait to get to 12 weeks before telling anyone and knowing everything is going well is much worse. Especially because I'm so bad at keeping a secret. :P

@SafariGirl100 yup, my boobs have also definitely grown, which I'm rather pleased with as I'm usually so flat chested... Grin

@youvegotafriendinme That's so exciting about your booking appointment! And brilliant that your manager is so good about it, that's fantastic.
My manager is quite good about it as well, as we've had to go through fertility treatment she's known about it all since before BFP, which is fairly unusual I suppose. But I'm glad for the support.

RiverMeadow · 05/10/2018 09:30

If anyone is interested in what your 6+2 baby looks like here it is! Check out the heart rate along the bottom! ❤️

Just got Very first BFP!! Due May 2019 anyone else??
Lovewinemorethanhusband · 05/10/2018 10:40

Rivermeadow that's what mine looks like but I can't upload a photo for some reason it doesn't want to work !

alienm · 05/10/2018 11:06

I've had a couple of nights out that I've used the driving excuse. It's October now, so could use the "sober for October" excuse for a few weeks if needed. At least my 12 week scan is at end October, so can tell folk once this month is over if needed. Will see how things go!
Paid for Christmas night out at the start of this week, at least I know there's a waiting list, so I can sell my place to a colleague if I want to get out of it nearer the time!

SafariGirl100 · 05/10/2018 13:17

@RiverMeadow That is wonderful. Great that you can see the heart-rate. I had a scan at 5.5 weeks but too early to see much other than it was there! I will have to be patient until 8th November although I am booked to see midwife 2 end of October so hoping she can hear the heartbeat with a doppler (my sister told me they can?) . I wish I could have a scan every week!! 😆

RiverMeadow · 05/10/2018 15:07

@SafariGirl100 The sonographer asked me to hold my breath and we could hear the heartbeat clear as day, I had a little tear! It was really lovely.

Mummytoboyxx · 05/10/2018 17:14

I’ve got a private scan tomorrow (I’ll be 7+3). I’m so nervous. I had an early scan with my last pregnancy at 6 weeks and they confirmed I’d had a MC. I’ve had no bleeding like I had last time but I still can’t help but feel apprehensive xx

RiverMeadow · 05/10/2018 19:45

@Mummytoboyxx I can totally understand why you would feel like that! Fingers crossed for tomorrow and I'm sure all will be well xx

Mummytoboyxx · 05/10/2018 21:06

Thanks @RiverMeadow 😘

Youvegotafriendinme · 05/10/2018 23:02

@Mummytoboyxx good luck for tomorrow, let us know how you get on Smile
