Kyle
Ellie
Jaden/Jayden
Chanelle
etc etc... and apologies if you have called your child any of the above
I put Ellie because a squillion little girls are called that.
Freya is a nice name but there are so many now - it really turns me against such names,no matter whether they are nice

Yes I like it too - am really annoyed that I got round to procreating so late and everyone else got in first.

I think you'll find I am Inigo Montoya. Now, you killed my father. Prepare to die.

Well, who am I then?

I agree about the Ellie - loads of them! I live in a very small village and we have an Ella, an Ellie, and an Ellen. At the playgroup we go to there are three Ellie's.

The Ellen is mine. In my defence it is a family name (my Nanna's) and we lived abroad when she was born and had no idea how popular this name was!

Naming is a tricky business.

Erm.. I think your apology must be a little insincere to be honest binker, because if you were worried about offending people you wouldn't start a thread featuring names that, to be a fair, quite a lot of perfectly "normal" families choose.

They may not be your choice, but so what? The world would be a boring place if we all called our children by names only you deemed acceptable.

And besides, there are plenty of "worse" names than those you have chosen to pick on. For instance, there is a "Beckham" at my friend's DS's nursery!

There was a Wave of Sarahs when I was at school - four in my class, let alone the rest of the year. Classic names are becoming increasingly rare, so there'll be a wave of those in a few years again no doubt. I can't wait for the Linda/Pamela/Keith wave to start (I think of these as 70s names but then I grew up then and these were parents' age peoples names so I guess more 50s)

I was born early 70s and there were lots of Joanne/Clare/Sharon/Rachel/Sarah etc. But the parents names were things like Denise/Linda/Valerie/Christine/Brenda etc.

GinGirl · 06/06/2007 16:31

Is it sad, that I still think it's a lovely thing to say/have said to you! Though obviously not terribly good for one, unless as pure and wonderful as Buttercup... now if only I can persuade DH....

Report
Blandmum · 06/06/2007 16:33

I know a smashing little boy of 7 called Hugo. And a real 'boys boy' as my mother would have said, a real tyke, lovley lad!
