Were you asked if you wanted the whooping cough vaccine?

I don’t think my midwife has mentioned it to me. I may need the anti-d vaccine, but will find out if I do, and if so, get it in October at my next midwife appointment.

Kate123cl · 29/08/2018 16:03

@RiskIt4Biscuit Mine asked at 16 week appointment but I had to book through my GP so may be worth phoning GP and arranging as I think it's available to everyone from 16 weeks x

beccii161016 · 29/08/2018 17:10

In my trust they've started giving it at 20 week appointments because women were being missed by their midwife forgetting to mention it to them! Unfortunately that led to multiple cases of fatalities for tiny babies. I'm glad they do it this way now as I actually received mine at 36 weeks so very late by the time I was actually told about it!

GinGeum · 29/08/2018 17:15

I had to book my whooping cough jab in with the GP nurse and need to do the same for flu vaccine when it gets colder. I can’t remember when I was told about it, but I remember them saying to book it after the 20 week scan although you can have it from 16 weeks. I’ve never had such a quick appointment today, she was jabbing my arm while I was still getting ready to sit down it felt like Grin nice and easy.

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 29/08/2018 17:31

We have a 3 door fiesta too & I had to take the wheels of the one I had with my DS (a mothercare one) so Wayfairer sounds like one to look into more - does the car seat fit on an isofix base?

newmummyjan19 · 29/08/2018 18:56

Due January 23rd and I'm super nervous 🧐

eilidh1986 · 29/08/2018 22:32

Hi ladies,

Hope we are well! I'm 20 weeks tomorrow & don't think I have felt anything too much yet! I am getting different "flutter" type feelings especially when sitting or lying down but the the thing is it's really high up! Almost up at my ribs! Everything I read says the early movements are low down feck knows what I'm feeling but it defo is different! Scan next week so fingers crossed all is ok!

We got an I candy peach a couple of months ago & are really happy with it, it is quite narrow tho but that suits us! Got a maxi cosi car seat on Saturday there as John Lewis were doing a good bundle deal with the base! Fancy getting the Sleepyhead next & one of those Tommie Tippee bottle makers too! Shopping list just keeps getting bigger & bigger xx

newmummyjan19 · 29/08/2018 22:34

I think that the "pregnancy glow" that your suppose to get is just that little glow you get going to bed at night after moisturising 😂

Or if it's not where can I find it because I certainly don't feel glowly or even slightly energetic...

I'm exactly 19 weeks today & im slowing down to the speed of a sloth 🙃

Pelly8 · 29/08/2018 23:07

Loving all the pram chat! I think I need to bite the bullet and go into a shop and take a proper look at them and see which one works best.

I feel totally clueless about what to expect and haven’t read a single book about what to expect when they are born - does anyone have any recommendations? A colleague told me about a book written by this American psychologist in the 70s and said it was really good because it explained why babies did certain thing so but he couldn’t remember the name of the book. Maybe it’s a bit out of date now!!

Also, thanks for reminding me to book my whooping cough injection!!!

doleritedinosaur · 29/08/2018 23:30

@Pelly8 Wonder week’s book & app is really good. Discusses leaps & development, both DC of mine have followed it to a T.

Wouldn’t really recommend any others as baby’s as so different so I didn’t bother. My first never went down & lived in the sling for months & didn’t sleep through until a year old.
Then my second goes down, self settles & is completely different.

Mumsnet is quite good to read though.

I have a Quinny Buzz but I don’t use it for first six months as I use a Caboo until baby is too heavy then they go in the Ergo 360. We go on a lot of walks in woods & NT so the big wheels & lightness of Quinny really help.
I’ve actually got an unused silver cross that we got new for DC1 but he hated it so was in the Caboo & I hated it as it was so heavy.

Youngest didn’t sleep until 5 am this morning so I’ve been very sluggish today. Bump was confused & active until I went to bed. Braxton Hicks woke me up from a nap which was not good.

Congratulations on another boy!

We just discussed names tonight & have boy’s first name & my middle name. Struggling with girls but got a few in the pipeline.

I really need to book my whooping cough as I’ve got my Anti D booked & need it at least a month before due to the pain 😩.

Weeks seem to be flying by now & we’re off on holiday soon so I wanted to get majority of painting done so can focus on baby stuff. Can’t decide whether to get a sleepyhead especially for downstairs & just keeping an eye out for a baby swing or something similar.
Really hard as my eldest hated the bouncer but liked the swing from 4 months but second hated the swing.

jadem1990 · 30/08/2018 12:22

We have just had our scan.. everything seemed ok. Our little one decided to behave this time and not wriggle as much as the 12 week scan.

We decided to not find out in the end however I was very tempted when we was in there. X

cryptonaut · 30/08/2018 14:02

Just found this on the NHS website regarding whooping cough vaccine, so there's time if you haven't had yours yet

@Purplesmiler that made me LOL B shaped belly here too, slowly changing into a D Grin

@doleritedinosaur that's interesting to know with the pram situation, i live on a farm and kind of feel it would probably be easier to have baby in a carrier rather than pushing a pram around, especially when baby is very small (cleaner too, thinking of muddy wheels in winter) but i just thought I should get a pram because everyone does??! Confused Also there seems to be a bigger choice of 3 wheel/all terrain buggys if they don't need a newborn carrycot. What do you do if you go shopping or to an appointment for example? Like would you put baby in the sling or just carry the car seat?

SophieStripe · 30/08/2018 16:29

All being well at our scan on Monday we are going pram and car seat shopping next weekend! Top of my list are uppababy cruz or visa. Car seat I haven't done as much research but maxicosi is fixed fits on the uppababy so we will investigate that one first

Merrz · 30/08/2018 16:45

Uppababy seems like a popular choice, 2 of my friends have the Vista and highly recommend.

GinGeum · 30/08/2018 16:56

Merrz I’m in the same situation as you so going to baby-wear most of the time but have the Doona car seat as a just-in-case set of wheels for nipping to supermarket/GP appointments etc (and for our weird set up with driveway and house). Then we will get the Out n About Nipper for when baby is old enough if we feel we need one.

ladydanger · 30/08/2018 17:25

Ladies - I'm after the Babyzen Yoyo, mothercare currently have £80 off £500 spend - is it worth getting the Yoyo now? I'm not sure how often they go on sale and / or whether this is a good discount?

Curlypop · 30/08/2018 18:31

I've bought the Cybex Priam on a mega good offer! Had the baby style oyster with first and hated it!
20 weeks today!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 30/08/2018 18:40

Thanks for your posts regarding the whooping cough vaccine! I'll ask my GP and/or midwife about it next time I see them.

I have a raging headache today, and have done absolutely nothing sensible.
I suspect it's a migraine, brought on by dinner (at the Fat Duck, so a bit unusual and potentially having something in that triggered an attack) and coming home late last night, maybe coupled with the weather and sleeping in a stupid position. I am far from happy about this.

In more interesting and positive news, I think I'm starting to feel kicking with my hand on my bump, which should hopefully mean that my DH should be able to feel it too.

We're driving off to Denmark on Saturday, and I'm nervous about how I'll deal with the long drive. But I'm really looking forward to a little holiday and seeing my family, even though I will have to work some of the days.

Merrz · 30/08/2018 18:58

@GinGeum I just looked up the Doona, that's really cool, I hadn't seen that before. Also saves boot space if you don't have seperate wheels.

Merrz · 30/08/2018 19:19

Out of interest for the ladies who already know what they're having, how true is this?

Due January 2019 (3rd thread)
cryptonaut · 30/08/2018 19:52

@Merrz ignoring the ones that actually say girl or boy, that makes 8/10 true for me... very interesting Hmm

SophieStripe · 30/08/2018 20:25

I don't know what we are having but by those rules, my baby is going to be half boy half girl!

GinGeum · 30/08/2018 20:38

Merrz yes exactly! I’ve always got dogs in my boot so anything to avoid having to fit anything else in there...

Ignoring the two boy/girl questions and the heartbeat one (because I don’t know the answer!) I got 7 out of 9 for the boy ones. The ones that were wrong are carrying high/low (I’m carrying high) and sickness yes/no (definite YES Hmm)

eilidh1986 · 30/08/2018 21:36

I know we are having a boy & that's what my Chinese calendar had predicted! I defo had the salty cravings too! Defo has the morning/all day sickness, I felt grim up until a couple of weeks ago!! Thank god it's passed x
