Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly Fingers crossed!
I went to hospital on Friday because I didn't feel like baby was moving as much as he usually has been. I felt faint flutters, not the usual proper kicks. It was all day, and no matter what I did, he just wouldn't kick like he usually does, and I was feeling quite nervous.
I had a scan and so on, and everything was looking good.
My blood pressure worried the consultant who did the scan, so I have to come back to have it monitored once a week or so. It hasn't changed, but he suspects I'm going to end up with pre-eclampsia. I obviously hope he is wrong.
Yesterday, DH and I went on a tour on the maternity ward. I felt overwhelmed by it, but I think it's because I haven't given much thought to labour and all that yet. Some of the other ladies who were there too were asking questions which made it clear that they definitely have thought about what they would like.
I still feel like there are months and months to go.
It was however great to get an idea of everything - we know where it is, where to park, where to go and what the different rooms are looking like.
If your hospital offers a tour, I really would recommend it! I think it took around 40 minutes.
Tomorrow we're going to a 2 hour antenatal class with the local health visiting team. Time really is moving fast! I can't believe there's only around 2 months left!
We've bought a large freezer, so we (I mainly) will start baking and cooking loads to freeze so we don't have to worry too much about food in the beginning. I must admit that I'm really looking forward to all of the cooking.
The plan is to make stews of different kinds, bolognese and soups, bread and buns, and sweet things like cinnamon swirls. I'm thinking that maybe some cookie dough or similar would be nice too, so we can cut and bake them when we feel like it.
Then we only have to heat the food and make pasta/rice/potatoes/vegetables, rather than cook most of the meal from scratch.
