Irony your updates make me so happy Smile

I just received this maternity dress this morning from Vertbaudet and it’s really nice if anyone is after something similar. So comfortable but looks flattering too. I’ve really had enough of waist bands already! It has nursing attachments too so hopefully will last a while.

@irony that's absolutely brilliant news!! What a turn around from a few months ago. So so pleased for you!

On the subject of over exertion I just stupidly mowed our garden. It was sooo long and it has been really pissing me off for weeks. DP is so busy with work and stuff that I thought F IT! I'll just do it. But my god, it killed me. I also broke the lawnmower cause it was so long and wet. I'm now laying KO'd on the sofa hoping that I haven't done any lasting damage (to myself)! I wasn't expecting to get an energy burst at 27 weeks but these past few days I have been on one. Yesterday I swapped the double mattresses round and cleaned the whole house on my own. I need to stopppp

Kate123cl · 05/10/2018 13:13

Is anyone else working an office job? I know it's probably a lot less difficult than say, a chef, waitress or anyone involved in retail but WOW I'm exhausted. I'm suffering a lot with sciatic pain and pgp. My commute is over an hour via public transport both ways and a lot of the time I'm left standing on a bus as it's just so busy! The doctor would definitely sign me off if I asked but I just feel like I'm letting work downSad

sexnotgender · 05/10/2018 13:28

I’m in an office job. WFH 2 days a week though.

Commute an hour each way and always get a seat in the morning. Never get a seat in the evening and get squashed frequently Sad
The sitting in one position is killing my back.

I’m just looking at my holiday planner trying to use up my last days and make myself feel better!

Luckily I think I’ll finish on 7th or 14th December for Xmas and I won’t go back.

quietly1 · 05/10/2018 13:44

Also have an office job and PGP. It used to be a 25 minute walk and 5 minute train journey. But can't walk that far anymore, so it's 2 buses and an hour each way. People here are much more generous with giving up their seats though, sorry you aren't finding the same Sad The days I don't work the pain is much better. Although we could have used the full pay for longer I'm finishing work on 30th November and can't wait. Have a few odd holiday days in between too. Having that date to aim for is making it easier to keep going. I wouldn't worry too much about letting work down if you need to be signed off, think about yourself.

Rarfy · 05/10/2018 13:58

@Kate123cl i work in an office. The days feel so long sat down all day. I try and walk around at least every hour but easy to forget when busy. I sympathise but also feel like you in that there will be much worse jobs to be in so try to keep positive. Had a really bad wk last wk. Tired and acheing but feeling much better this week.

GinGeum · 05/10/2018 14:31

I don’t think an office job is any less difficult to be honest, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do it. I can’t sit upright for longer than 30 minutes without feeling pain and discomfort. I couldn’t cope sitting like that all day, and definitely wouldn’t cope with a commute either!

jennac · 05/10/2018 14:43

I work in an office (and in the local pub twice a week which is now getting hard!!). My commute is a 2.5 mile walk and then a train. I used to cycle but can't anymore. The long days do exhaust me now! I'm on the countdown to 10th December. Have just booked a celebratory massage for 11th!

sexnotgender · 05/10/2018 14:47

I am so grumpy.

I’ve spent the day so far either feeling sick or being sick. Have loads of work to do and really struggling.

Roll on the weekend.

SuperVeggie · 05/10/2018 15:50

Hi ladies. I don't really have a traditional 'office' job so to speak but I do spend a fair portion of my day sitting at a desk. I'm getting awful sciatica and also feel like I keep squashing the baby when I'm sitting down, she kicks a lot when I'm leaning forward to type!

I have been keeping up to date with reading this thread but I haven't really posted anything recently because I've been struggling quite a lot. I'm not really sure what with though. I feel like time is dragging and I keep feeling very emotional and weepy but for no real reason. I'm feeling an awful lot of pressure in terms of monitoring the baby's movements and I think it's really starting to get to me. I hate the thought that I'm responsible for noticing whether or not she is ok, and if I don't notice and do something quick enough then something bad might happen to her and I'd feel like it was my fault. Of course the rational part of me knows this isn't true, but I feel like I have all the responsibility and I'm finding it overwhelming. I just can't wait for her to be here so that my DH can help and I won't be the only one in charge of making sure she's ok IYSWIM. Sorry I don't know if that makes any sense at all. I'm just terrified that something bad will happen to her.

I don't know if I should mention it to my midwife or GP (I'm seeing them both next week for different reasons). I'm worried that if I tell them I'm struggling then they will think I'm an overanxious FTM and stop taking me seriously.

Sorry to bring a downer to the thread... is anyone else feeling like this? I had quite an anxious spell at around 16/17 weeks but have felt better since then so I don't know if it's just hormone fluctuations.

purplesmiler · 05/10/2018 16:30

@irony pleased for you and your family such a nice update after everything you have been through.

@SuperVeggie I think it's important you discuss your feelings with your midwife. I understand as have anxiety myself and although well managed now I have needed extra support. I keep getting myself worried about baby's movements even though at this stage she doesn't have much of a pattern I just get kicked or feel a movement at different times.

cryptonaut · 05/10/2018 17:53

@SuperVeggie It's important to voice any concerns to your midwife, no matter how big or small, whether it's about you or your baby, physical or mental/psychological. Your health is extremely important and mental health is included in that. I don't think they'll be any judgement. It's important that you do what's needed to keep yourself healthy too.

As much as it doesn't feel like it, I think what you're feeling is quite common and normal. Please know you're not alone and we are here if you ever need to talk.

Buttercup53 · 05/10/2018 18:12

@superveggie I have felt exactly the same way re pressure to be the one solely responsible for noticing if there’s anything not right with the baby, it’s overwhelming sometimes. For what it’s worth, every medical professional I’ve spoken to from the midwives to the GPs to consultants have been made very aware of my anxiety disorder, and all but one have been immensely understanding, supportive, and reassuring without being patronising. Mental health is as important as physical health, and no one will stop taking you seriously if you tell them how you feel. You also need to have other people you can talk to - do you feel comfortable discussing these feelings with your partner, family and friends? Because just saying it out loud can feel like a burden is lifted, and of course you have us.

Does anybody have any advice on how many weeks they say you need to be before your actively monitoring movement ? The reason I ask is I haven’t felt baby move at all today and wondering whether I’ll sound crazy ringing at 27 weeks or if I’m just as crazy not to ring? I’ve just eaten and am having a cold fizzy drink so will see if anything occurs x

Kate123cl · 05/10/2018 20:41

@Harrypotterfan1604 My midwife suggested from 26 weeks onwards x

cryptonaut · 05/10/2018 20:42

If you haven't felt any movement call them. I was told you start to feel movement between 16 and 24 weeks, then it starts to become a recognisable pattern at about 28 weeks. But if you haven't felt any movement at all when you usually do then call them. Don't feel bad for calling, it's better to be safe and it's what they are there for.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 05/10/2018 20:46

Thanks guys I know it’s probably stupid to question if I should ring or not but don’t want to be overreacting. I usually feel lots of movement about 30 mins after eating so this is my limit, if nothing at all by 9 I’m phoning x

cryptonaut · 05/10/2018 20:52

Hope everything's ok with your little one. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Harrypotterfan1604 · 05/10/2018 20:57

Thank you :) a cold fizzy drink has worked a treat I have one wriggly baby now! I think I’ll be keeping a close eye tonight and tomorrow just to be safe

cryptonaut · 05/10/2018 21:23

Yay so happy to hear that :) you must be so relieved

LG93 · 05/10/2018 21:26

Hi all, one of the original newbies of the thread who fell off the radar a while back!

Several of us have a (hidden) Facebook group for January due dates. If anyone is interested in joining feel free to PM me a link to your Facebook and I can add you as a friend then add you to the group. You're welcome to delete me after but the privacy settings only let me add friends.

We're a friendly bunch and it's nice to get to know each other a bit better ☺️

Wowthisisreal · 05/10/2018 21:35

@LG93 hey! Do you know how I PM someone on the app?

Harrypotterfan1604 · 05/10/2018 21:36

@cryptonaut yeah I am feel a bit silly for even posting and asking now though Blush

cryptonaut · 05/10/2018 22:03

@Harrypotterfan1604 don't feel silly. It's always better to ask if you're not sure.

Quirkycutekitch2011 · 05/10/2018 22:38

I have a question too - how do I get a link to my Facebook? 🙂
