I had a mirina coil for 4 years and had it taken out 10 weeks ago,I havent had a period for 4 years!! well since then i have had unprotected sex twice. Started to feel a bit poorly so took a test, one from lloyds chemist, it had a faint line so took 2 more the following day they were the same, this was nearly 2 and a half weeks ago and ive took about 20 tests since then, boots own does the same and even clear blue, although the digital came up not pregnant. These lines are really faint, not everyone can see them, my bf thinks its all in my head lol I made an appointment to have a blood test but chickened out cause im petrified of needles. I dont know what to think, surely my hcg would have increased over 2 weeks??.......HELP

You should be getting stronger lines over a 2 week period. Are you looking at the line within the time specified (usually 5-10 mins)? If you look at the test later in the day, you might be seeing an evaporation line.

It is possible to be preg and not have a positive test though. May be that a trip to the docs is the best thing to do. this might give you some further info.

i was still coming up neg at 9 weeks with dd so i'd say even a faint line is a line.

blood tests me thinks, or ask if you could have an internal scan if you're too nervous of the needle

xxkiexx · 03/06/2007 14:03

Yeah its all within the time limit, also i brought a 2 pack from boots and had my mum take one, as i would see a faint line then they would turn blue over time, so we both took one mine had faint line and dried blue but mums didn't!! its sooooooooooooo confusing!!! I didnt know you could ask doctors for a scan!! I will try that tomorrow!!!

Well theres no such thing as a false positive.

As PT says, gp's or EPU would do blood tests, usually 2 in one week to check your HCG levels.
They should double every 48 hours or there abouts.

xxkiexx · 03/06/2007 14:22

Im really scared though, im alright all day then i leave it til the last half hour and cancel. Hard to believe i already have 3 kids lol

xxkiexxx i think you should reallyg o see your gP hun, i dont want to worry you, but rarely when the BFP line doesnt get stronger, it can be from an ectopic pregnancy (worst case scenario) so although i hope this isnt the case for you, it really might be best to pop along and get it out the way...and lets hope you are and all is well!

xxkiexx · 03/06/2007 14:37

oh er, that doesnt sound good :S I think im going to have to arent i anyone want to come and hold my hand lol

feelinbloo · 03/06/2007 14:38

aw i really didnt want to worry you, and am sure you would have had more symptoms if it was eptopic, but all the same, its worth getting it done and i would hold your hand if i could!

xxkiexx · 03/06/2007 14:42

If im honest it had crossed my mind, i think its one of those things you know you have to get done but are a bit scared of the outcome, Like "your not pregnant" (gutted) or "we cant see the baby in your womb lets check the tubes, oh there it is" scary!!

xxkiexx · 03/06/2007 17:26

i think i'll ring doc's first thing, it has been driving me mad for two week now. i'll let you know the outcome x

Hi xxkiexx

I came off the pill Aug 06 and got a very, very faint positive Sept 06. I didnt really think much of it as i got what i thought was my period a few days later. Anyway Oct 06 i didnt get my period and tested again. Again the line was faint but darker that the one before. A week after my BFP i started bleeding brown blood so hospital tested my HCG levels. They came back very low and it turned out that my pregnancy was Ectopic. Turns out that the very faint + that i got in Sept was correct.

To cut a long story short by the time everything was confirmed by the hospital i was 10 weeks (i thought that i was only 6), my tube ruptured, lost right tube, had lots of internal bleeding and nearly lost my life.

I dont mean to scare you hun but if i were you id go and get your HCG levels checked out. HCG in a normal pregnancy should double roughly every 48hrs and if your + is still faint, it doesnt sound like yours are.

I really do hope that things turn out ok for you hun but if not, as long as they catch it in time you may not have to suffer the same way i and many others on MN have.

Natalie x

Apparently blue ink ones are more reliable than pink if that helps. Is your name a not v. subtle blanking out of a regular or is that just a coincidence...

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 12:06

i don't understand?

OP posts:
DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 04/06/2007 12:28

ie could the xx xxx be replaced to make the name of a regular. If you don't know what I'm on about then probably not! Actually on looking again, you'd be missing a letter anyway

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 12:39

ha ha. no my name is jackie and just jackie is always taken so i use the last 3 letters and tart it up a bit with the x x x's i'm not a regular (yet) i only joined yesterday

see, ive been trawling the t'internet for about a week now and not one forum has turned up to say, i had a faint line and it turned blue about an hour later, they all say they can see a faint line an hour later!! The thing is I dont feeeeeel pregnant. Ok so a few weeks back i had a hightened sense of smell (i didnt realise this was a pregnancy symptom until yesterday) but it disappeared an it seems to be back today, my boobs are slightly bigger but not sore or tender in anyway, and i felt a bit sickly for about 3 days about 2 weeks ago but since then nowt! What could this mean?????

OP posts:
wannaBe · 04/06/2007 17:34

firstly, before worrying too much about ectopic/not ectopic pregnancy, I would go out and buy a digital test. There can be no mistake then - it will either be pregnant/not pregnant. You will know then either way, and you can then go to your gp and say you are concerned.

And not all hospitals will check for pregnancy - ours won't. So I would go to gp armed with the knowledge that you either are/aren't pregnant and ask where to go from there.

fillyjonk · 04/06/2007 17:39

xxkiexx what i think is worrying is that the line is not turning more blue

i am on pg no 3, first time i was quite sick and very tired. second time i was very tired and very sick. (both pg to term, btw, no miscarriages) This time I am feeling not SO sick yet and hardly tired at all, what is odd though is that it comes in waves, with respites

so what i am clumsily trying to say is that every pg IS different, the asymptomaticness could be just a thing. But the line not turning darker-I'd get that checked

take it you're using early morning wee and a decent test-eg clearblue? It makes a difference. I was using cheapo 49p ones and getting only very faint lines, i tried clearblue and got big, blue, "my word you've screwed up" line

have you called nhs direct? they might help.
