I had a mirina coil for 4 years and had it taken out 10 weeks ago,I havent had a period for 4 years!! well since then i have had unprotected sex twice. Started to feel a bit poorly so took a test, one from lloyds chemist, it had a faint line so took 2 more the following day they were the same, this was nearly 2 and a half weeks ago and ive took about 20 tests since then, boots own does the same and even clear blue, although the digital came up not pregnant. These lines are really faint, not everyone can see them, my bf thinks its all in my head lol I made an appointment to have a blood test but chickened out cause im petrified of needles. I dont know what to think, surely my hcg would have increased over 2 weeks??.......HELP

i brought a digital one about a week and half and it had a jump up smack you in the face and rub it in not pregnant but then i continued to get faint lines. Is it true that even though a pregnancy progresses hcg levels can stil stay low? Or could it be that im so convinced that im pregnant that im seeing the lines even though they aren't there??? When i was pg with ds 4 years ago i took endless tests for about 3 weeks after nausea and the very last one i did was a bfp (3 weeks!!!!) i thought i was about 7 weeks gone when i went for my scan and it turned out i was 5 weeks gone .

aw xxkiexx

were you TRYING to be pg? because if so this must be awful

the digital one, i would guess, DOES work on the same principle as any other test-it measures HGC levels. So if they are faint, it might not detect it

IIRC there are other things can can cause a faint result, including some types of cancer (NOT trying to scare you and i could be wrong anyway). and of course ectopic pg, which is really serious and prob won't go away.

I do think you need to get it checked, and quickly.

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:06

ah well we will have to see what doc says, weren't trying but not thinking oh shit what we gonna do lol time will tell

When do you go the doctor? Have you read up on ectopic pregnancy?

fillyjonk · 04/06/2007 18:08

awww

DO treat this as a priority

I'd call nhs direct tonight, tbh. They MIGHT be able to send you to A&E and get a scan or a souped up test, dep where you are

no other symptoms of ectopic pg?

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:25

Not that im aware of, i feel perfectly fine apart from being tired!!

Right i have a clear blue test infront of me, shall i test it from the sample i collected at 8 this morning or shall i do it the au natural way??

Best urine to use is the first one of the day.

It's just that if this is a suspected ep preg, it would be good to speak to someone asap. They are potentially life threatening.

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:34

Well i haven't had any symptoms that are described on several items about ep pg on the net, but i think i may ring the hospital and see if they can give me some advice! I'll take this test first though cause it could have a darker line!

OP posts:
tutu100 · 04/06/2007 18:38

have you done it yet?

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:40

yeah just leaving it as long as poss before i look lol

OP posts:
beansprout · 04/06/2007 18:43

Are the 5 minutes up? What does it say?

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:43

ok so its a tiny bit darker but you dont have to squint and tilt it to the light to see it, is that good?

beansprout · 04/06/2007 18:48

I would have thought, given what others have said, that you would realise that this could well be an ep preg. They don't always have symptoms. On that basis, I would have sought advice by now, but then again, maybe I just worry too much.

Seems odd that you want this to be a "ooh, am I, aren't I?" thread. Maybe I'm a bit hormonal. Not trying to sound abrupt but I really would seek to rule this opton out if I were you, and not wait until 10.30 on Weds.

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 18:53

I've just spoke to the midwife in our local delivery suite and she has said dont worry and take a sample with me on wed, she said as i do not know how "late" i am it more than likely is a case of testing to early so on one hand im a little relieved but on the other..............:S

TaylorsMummy · 04/06/2007 19:48

i would check it out if it were me.if you do have an ectopic you can't just wait around.you need to be seen.could you get an emergency appointment for the morning?

xxkiexx · 04/06/2007 20:09

I'll give it a good go, sorry to all if i seem a bit....."meh" but at the moment but i have 2 out of 3 little ones with chicken pox and my daughter developed one on her eyeball and is in great distress, the doc has given her some cream but it is hurting her alot. I will give it my all to try and get doc appointment/scan/blood test etc tomorrow and will let you all know, thanks for all your comments and concern xxxx

Oh, Just read the other posts properly, and about "am i aren't i thread" I wrote this in the hope that someone was/ has been in the same position, aside from the ep pg. Sorry if it has made anyone mad

OP posts:
beansprout · 04/06/2007 21:39

No, it hasn't made anyone mad, I was just concerned that you were not taking some of the feedback about a potential ep preg seriously. I do really hope you are ok though and that your lo's recover from the chicken pox soon x

xxkiexx · 05/06/2007 21:29

Really?!! You got a good strong line?! Fab!! Will you still explain the history in the morning? Aw, congratulations!!

My faint line turned out to be a chemical pregnancy and I started bleeding a week later. I then got a bfp 10 days ago and am now 5+4

When are you due?!
