I love Clara and Eloise.

Not keen on Olive or Naomi.

Aitch · 02/06/2007 23:12

all nice. olive a bit dangerous. eloise is becoming popular round here. clara a wee bit nutcracker and naomi sweet.

Pinkchampagne · 02/06/2007 23:12

Like Eloise

foxcub · 02/06/2007 23:13

Like Eloise

Clara is Ok

Olive reminds me of "Olive Oil" from Popeye, or Olive from On the Buses

Don't like naomi

Olivia is MUCH nicer than "Olive" IMHO!!

janeite · 02/06/2007 23:13

Love Eloise and Naomi - don't like the others.

lilolilmanchester · 02/06/2007 23:14

Hi BagLady... would be careful asking for too many opinions, you only need one person to say they don't like a name and you'll be crossing every name off your list (tho don't dislike any of the ones you mention) I think girls' names are particulary tough. I'd say make sure it's pretty enough so they can grow up to be a ballerina but strong enough so they can grow up to be Prime Minister/ nuclear physicist.

rosealbie · 02/06/2007 23:14

I like Clara and Olive as both quite unusual.
Eloise is very pretty too though.

ScottishMummy · 02/06/2007 23:16

eerrrrrr you definiteley want feedback hokey cokey

Olive - Bleugh just make me think oil
Clara nice
Naomi nice
Eloise eeeuggg stoopid damned song

hatwoman · 02/06/2007 23:18

I've never come across an Olive and have never thought about it for young'uns but seeing it there it strick me as lovely. very elegant, a nice soft O to start with and a consonant at the end - makes it feminine but strong too. the other 3 are too girly for me - I'm not a fan of vowels at the end - you can add those when you're being affectionate (eg Livvy) but it's nice to have a stronger, formal name. imho.

jeweldancer · 02/06/2007 23:18

The only one I'm not so keen on is Olive. But what does it matter what anyone thinks anyway. It's you that has to say it 20 times a day, and the little girl that has to live with it - i don't think any of those names have teasing potential.

When are you due? We had a list of about 10 names and the top one changed regularly... And thankfully both little girls suit their names... (I feel). Mind you i never told anyone what i was thinking and so they'd never have known if we changed our mind!

Hope your keeping well

berolina · 02/06/2007 23:18

Olive - no, but Olivia is OK
Clara - like a lot - it's also my niece's name
Naomi - like best of the four
Eloise - hmm, had to think about it for a moment, but yes, I do think i like it

hatwoman · 02/06/2007 23:18

I like lilo's test - and to my mind Olive is the only one that passes it

MrsBadger · 02/06/2007 23:19

Clara very good
ditto Naomi
ditto Eloise
prefer Olivia to Olive but it is popular.

I am a fan of short-but-pretty for girls and these are good on that score.

MaureenMLove · 02/06/2007 23:20

I like Clara the best - defo.
Olive - too popeye
Naomi & Eloise - poor child spends her entire life getting birthday cards with incorrect spellings of her name!

TwoIfBySea · 02/06/2007 23:20

Olive, sorry, makes me think of little green edibles (or black if that is your preference!) Much prefer Olivia.

Clara, Naomi and Eloise are all lovely names and it would depend on how they sound with your last name, or any second names you choose. Or you could go for all three and be extravagant Miss Clara Naomi Eloise xxxx!

nachomama · 02/06/2007 23:25

Eloise gets my vote

winniepoo · 02/06/2007 23:27

olive reminds me of an incontinent granny!
Sorry don't really like any - I'm not being a bitch I just find girls names really hard. I do like niahm and ffion though.

nachomama · 02/06/2007 23:28

Sorry- quick hijack!
twoifbysea, i've been looking for you [reallynotastalkerhonest face emoticon]
are you from boston?

Otter · 02/06/2007 23:47

all lovely clara gets my vote

Olive sweet much nicer than Olivia

TwoIfBySea · 02/06/2007 23:49

No nacho, I lived north of Boston (Cape Ann) for some time though and have very fond memories of the place. Not a city but a lovely big village! Still have lots of friends there and would love to live there again some day.
