oh yes i remember - how adorable!!!

does she have 3 boys?

Bouquetsofdynomite · 04/06/2007 15:56

Ooh Nancy Miranda is fab.

Bodkin · 04/06/2007 21:22

I know an Olive (aged 3) - gorgeous name for a gorgeous kid - and will also be a cool name for when she is a teenager, as it is not too prissy.

hatwoman · 04/06/2007 22:35

Interesting that Olive is so divisive - seems a real love it or hate it name. I love it (even though it's definitely old-ladyish in one way to me, as it was my Grandma's name). But I do think it's the kind of name people might change their mind about. dh wanted to call one of dd's Edith and I absolutely vetoed it. I almost regret it now.

BagLady75 · 04/06/2007 22:55

I do really like Olive - actually I like Olivia too but really think it is too popular. I'm just not sure I can commit to a name that is, as hatwoman pointed out, so divisive. I was surprised that several posters said that Eloise had become a bit too popular.

Alfie72 · 08/06/2007 14:56

Eloise rocks !
Olive reminds me of popeye
Clara- sweet, quite old fashioned
Naomi- quite a few of those out there !!

Girls' names are definately harder to think about than boys'

hayley2u · 08/06/2007 15:56

To Hayley2U:
I think that Lucy is really pretty but Iparticularly like Poppy and Daisy. Molly is my niece's name so I am biased in saying that is a good name too.

zizou · 10/06/2007 20:06

I like them all. I like Olive; like the girl in Little Miss Sunshine. Clara the least, it's a bit poncey I think. Eloise is good. Naomi impeccable biblical name.

pendulum · 10/06/2007 20:06

Hayley: IMHO, daisy and poppy are gorgeous for a little girl but what if she grows up to be a cabinet minister or something? I work in a pretty male environment and, although it's wrong that it matters, am glad of my very classic name when introducing myself.

lucy is great for that reason - pretty but strong. (again... IM ever so HO.. have never commented on name thread before and makes me slightly nervous because so personal )

FJLA · 10/06/2007 20:56

I adore the name Olive. Far prettier than Olivia.

Enid · 10/06/2007 20:59

like all of them but doint think I would ever have chosen them

olive - olive from on the buses
clara - the cow
naomi - just dont like it much now I come ot think aobu ti
eloise - I like this but she will be Elly which is the worlds most popular girls name

wheresthehamster · 10/06/2007 21:13

When I read the op I really couldn't understand anyone choosing Olive (on the buses, popeye etc) as it belongs to that era that hasn't come around again yet (Nora, Doris, Doreen, Audrey etc) but after reading all the posts I think I really like it!

The only one I still don't like is Naomi.

claraq · 11/06/2007 10:56

My name is Clara - I am in my late 30's and have hardly ever come across any other Clara's so pissing myself with laughter that this is suddenly becoming popular again where the hell has this come from? Mind you my name is pronouced like Clare but with an A at the end rather than the Spanish-sounding Clara (rhyming with Tara). Not sure which you are thinking of but if the first, your daughter will have to put up with a lifetime of mis-pronounciations.
