Just had my early scan... baby is perfect! Measuring 7wk1day as I thought I was, and little heartbeat was flickering so fast! I’m so happy I cried when I saw my baby was okay 😄

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/08/2018 11:00

@AceyMac13 Congratulations!! It’s such an amazing feeling!

melissa112 · 10/08/2018 11:12

Felt less sick the last 2 days. I spent all day Wednesday throwing up. Yesterday and this morning I gave in and took the anti sickness medication that the midwife gave me. I've eaten none stop this morning but not exactly healthy stuff Shock I suppose it makes up from barely eating anything for the past few weeks due to nausea.

Now typically I'm worrying if something is wrong with baby now I'm not feeling as bad. I did have to go to bed early last night as I felt sick but I'm in a panic! Had a scan last Wednesday and saw baby's heartbeat. Hope he/she is still ok! Hoping it's just the tablets kicking in!

melissa112 · 10/08/2018 11:14

@myotherbagisgucci I told my employer as I had quite bad pains in my side and was worried about ectopic so was off to the hospital a fair bit. I'm still only 8+5 so I told them quite early. They've been really good and got my a laptop on loan so I can work from home when I need to. Which has been since I got the laptop 🤢

melissa112 · 10/08/2018 11:15

@AceyMac13 congratulations Smile

MrsLCW · 10/08/2018 11:57

Thanks ladies - jeans are new look and sooo stretchy/comfy!!
Just done with my appointment, baby looking good at 10 weeks and was wriggling away 😍😍 am celebrating with a McDonald's 😂
I'm so happy with my consultant care!! As soon as I sat in his office today he said "right shall we have a quick peak at this baby then?" As he knows how anxious I am. Then at the end he asked when my dating scan is booked in, and it's 3 weeks today (when I'll be 13ish) and he said "ooh that feels ages away, do you want to pop back in two weeks and we'll have another glance at baby to keep the nerves at bay"😍😍😍

ballanj · 10/08/2018 12:00

@myotherbagisgucci I haven't had an early scan. Did float the idea but there's no reason for me to request one or go private, other than for reassurance. This is my first pregnancy, no medical issues and I feel well generally (when I'm not expelling gas here there and everywhere!) so I'm just going to wait for the 12 weeks. What will be, will be.

I've not told my employer expressly yet. My best friend at work who is in HR is in the know and I told a close friend in my team this week. I've not told my boss yet. My midwife said I should just in case I have and medical issues but I'm in no hurry to mention it. I will probably mention to my boss just before I go for my 12 week scan.

It's a tricky one, I think if it's not going to have any adverse affect on your job then it's entirely up to you when you tell your employer.

Sictransitgloria · 10/08/2018 12:04

@mrsLCW your consultant sounds fab - exactly how they should be treating you.

Minichuch · 10/08/2018 12:20

I've literally told one guy in my office (I am the only female in the office 🤦🏻‍♀️) just in case anything crops up - I'm not thinking of telling rest of work till after 12 wk scan at the very earliest.

My first appointment with mw isn't until next Friday - think I'll be 8+6 by then

AceyMac13 · 10/08/2018 12:46

Thank you for the congratulations everyone, I’m so happy 😄
Just rang the community midwives again as I haven’t heard anything since self referring, they said they tend to do it when people reach ten weeks, feels so long away!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 10/08/2018 14:52

Has anyone told their parents yet? We're telling mine tonight and I'm kind of dreading it. We get married in October so I don't want them to be disappointed for us. It's ridiculous but I'm really nervous. I'm nearly 27 and been with my H2B for 8 years so it's not as if it should be a shock. I have no idea how to tell them.

TheWanderlust · 10/08/2018 15:07

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever we told my parents separately Sunday / Monday by giving them a card. Meant I didn't have to say a word

Funnybunnyfluff · 10/08/2018 15:24

We got married in July and so our baby will be a honeymoon baby, was a massive shock as I didn't expect it to happen while away... hear so many stories of of ppl trying to conceive for years and bam we are pregnant.

I have told my mum as I'm close to her and needed to tell someone. It was a phone call of guess what lol. Not told my dad yet and I'm scared to tell him even though he said to me ... babies next lol

I'm scared to tell everyone lol. So your not alone.

Sictransitgloria · 10/08/2018 18:48

Random thing, dunno if its pregnancy related. Feel chest/head pressure when bending over or laying down to the point I feel a bit breathless. Surely this isn’t normal at 7 weeks, I’d expect it in later pregnancy?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 10/08/2018 23:06

Just got back from dinner with my Parents. They were really happy so I needn't have felt nervous!
@Sictransitgloria I get pressure too. It's like a rush of blood to the head of I lean over to pick something up. If it's a bit more prolonged my vision starts to go black. Midwife said it's due to the increase of blood volume.

Funnybunnyfluff · 10/08/2018 23:30

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever
That's excellent news and I'm sure a nice weight lifted.
Not sure why we all worry so much.

HidCat · 11/08/2018 09:18

@VillageFete oh ouch. I hope it's healed a bit by now. It's so frustrating isn't it? I go from being backed up for 4-5 days to having a full on clear out. Had to make an emergency toilet stop mid journey yesterday as my gut decided it had to go there and then (did make it to toilets at least). Those cakes though mmmm

@Funnybunnyfluff yup, another moody one here lol. Trying to keep a lid on it but that's easier said than done.

@PurpleFlower1983 my maternity clothes are all over bump so not worn them yet, if I had under bump I probably would be.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever blimey, that's one hell of a dream! I hope they calm down for you soon.

@myotherbagisgucci my scan is on August 30th, the same as @ballanj. I can't wait. No signs or any problems atm so I'm feeling positive about it, for now at least. Will tell work after the 12 week scan (they'll need to know whatever happens).

@AceyMac13 I'm so pleased your scan went well.

@melissa112 I'm sure all is fine, the pains are probably related to the sickness. I'm glad the medication is working for you.

@MrsLCW I want your consultant lol.

VillageFete · 11/08/2018 09:34

Morning everyone,

I have my early scan today. Nerves are gone! I felt really sick yesterday, had to go back to bed, but today I feel ok? No nausea, but boobs are still very sensitive and i’m tired. I am worried sick. Why would the sickness not be there this morning when it was yesterday? I am approx 6+5.

myotherbagisgucci · 11/08/2018 09:48

Good luck @VillageFete I hope it all goes well!!! 🍀🍀

VillageFete · 11/08/2018 12:26

Saw my beautiful baby today!! Nice, strong heartbeat. I’m 6 weeks 5 days, due April fool’s day! But will go in for a section on approx 25th March. Does this mean miscarriage rates drop once you’ve seen heartbeat?

myotherbagisgucci · 11/08/2018 12:36

Congratulations @VillageFete absolutely fantastic news!!

I read online that if you've not experienced any issues so far, that your odds of having a miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat are about 4% until 9 weeks, then it drops to 1.6%. ☺️

Funnybunnyfluff · 11/08/2018 12:36

An i right to think we now have the choice for natural birth or c section?

I know still early days but has anyone got opinions on what's they will be doing and why.

First time for me.

VillageFete · 11/08/2018 12:40

Thank you @myotherbagisgucci After 4 years of infertility hell, multiple rounds of IVF and an early miscarriage, I am on cloud 9. Especially as this is a natural, miracle pregnancy!!

@Funnybunnyfluff After my disasterous labour with my DD 9 years ago, it wouldn’t be safe for me to try again for a vaginal birth. We both ended up incredibly unwell last time, and it wound up being an emergency c section anyway.

myotherbagisgucci · 11/08/2018 12:44

You can choose whichever birth you like, midwife led, doctor led, natural or an ELCS.

If you choose a ELCS, they do try their best to talk you out of it and you'll have to see a consultant.

After having my DD naturally, I decided to ask for a ELCS this time around, only to be told the horrors of the healing process. I'm now undecided, but I'm swaying to natural again as my DD will be 14 months when DC2 is born and I'll need to be mobile ASAP!

AceyMac13 · 11/08/2018 12:46

@HidCat - thank you I’m over the moon :)

The lovely lady scanning me printed off 12 pictures for me instead of the 2 it’s meant to be, can’t stop looking at them. She even did some 3D images, baby looks like a starfish in one and a shark in the other 😂

Congratulations @VillageFete I’m so pleased everything went well for you!!
