Pregnancy 12 week + post IVF/infertility - general chat and support

I thought I would start a thread for those of us pregnant post IVF/infertility. There are lots of pregnancy clubs on Mumsnet but it feels like a slightly different experience having got here the hard way!

I've put 12 weeks + because there is another group for women who have just got their BFPs. That is such an anxious time and definitely needs support.

But I thought this group might pick us up a little further along - over the first panic but still learning about the experience.

Hi.Bad news for me. Had some funny sensation yesterday, went to hospital to check and basically my brith canal suddenly opened. So far waters are bulging but not burst & dont have proper contractions. But chances are for miscarriage/extreme preemie. Have been in hospital overnight. Basically have to wait and see - he might be out in hours, worst case. Or if we are very very lucky might stay in for few weeks giving him a chance. This feels like some sadistic torture. Wait till we start to feel safe, then hit us again. Cant believe just 24hr ago we were discussing baby names, and today we have to make decisions on resuscitation. Devastated

@Decafplease OMG! That’s so awful! How far along are you, if you don’t mind me asking?
I will keep everything crossed for you and if there is anything that can be don’t, I’m sure it will be. You never know, but we are here for you through everything!

You still in hospital? What did doctor say? Is it Just waiting now?

@hailseitan, glad to read tour scan went well. They are so reassuring. My little one was very active at the last scan and showed us a bit of leg! 😂

@jane, so sorry to hear about the migraines. Must be even worse in this heat. Hopefully, lots of water and cold flannels help.

My “most of the day” sickness has finally let up...it only took getting to 14w. 😬

But excited to be going home to tell my family the news...and buying clothes that better accommodate my changing body! 😂

@Decafplease, I’m so try to hear what you’re going through. Sending positive thoughts and prayers that your little one will be just fine. 💕

Oh @Decafplease that is awful. I'm so sorry. We all have to just hope and pray he can hold on as long as possible - and that if he is born now he makes it...we're here to chat if you need us to.

Thanks all. Am just waiting for them to come check my bloods now. If thats ok, have to wait for spot in operation theater where they will make final assessment

@Decafplease I don't know if this is helpful and you probably already know, but Tommy's are experts in prematurity and complications as well as loss and have a helpline. I called them early on when I was convinced I was miscarrying and they were just really good to talk to. Not sure if that is your kind of thing but thought I would mention in case you need to talk to someone who understands. Sorry if that's obvious or unhelpful (I know that can be irritating). Lots of love xxx

So i have had an assessment this morning and they decided its too risky to attempt a stitch after all. So i stay on bed rest and progesterone and wait. Feel shattered.

decafplease don’t give up hope yet!! Do what the doctors say and have plenty of rest. I have everything crossed for you. Xx

@Decafplease are you staying in hospital or going home? I'm not surprised you are shattered - emotionally and physically. Let's hope rest can keep your baby in for as long as possible. Are they going to give you steroids?

Thanks all. I’m going to be kept in hospital- danger of infection as womb is open. Had steriods, so everything that can be done to prepare has been done. On bed rest for forseesble future

@Decafplease I'm glad to hear that your tiny one is still ok. It's horrible being in hospital, but you're in the best place and they're doing all that they can. I have absolutely every crossable appendage crossed for you xxx
