Reduced movements - long sorry

Hi all, new here.
I'm 33w & 6d pregnant with my third. Since Thursday I've had reduced movement, to the point I can count on one hand how many movements I've felt.
I got checked over on Friday, booked in for an emergency growth scan which showed everything was fine (cord/placenta working beautifully the lady said, lots of fluid around baby, baby swallowing and doing lots of deep breaths in) and was checked over (by this I mean put on those monitors) again yesterday (Mon) which showed baby heart rate fine but a very sleepy baby - was on monitor from 12.15 to 2.30 and had 7 movements. In that time I started contracting so was given steriod injection as precaution but I'm so worried about not feeling anything, even now the last movement I remember feeling was about 5ish. I've tried laying on my side, going for a walk, having cold drinks and ice poles, eating something sweet, eating anything, rubbing my belly, talking to belly, poking belly. Do I just now suddenly have a sleepy baby? Is this at all normal? I'm back to hospital tomorrow for another monitoring & steriod injection but I've never experienced this before, has anybody?
V stressed

I can't do this anymore 😭😭
I've had a 5 minute liquor volume scan, on the ctg monitor now but no further appointments will be booked, no further scans. Just have to phone up when movements are reduced 😭

That's really not on op

I really don't know what to say
Can you ask the consultant/ dr / mw why baby isnt moving, even om scans?

GKite · 25/07/2018 13:25

I'm due to see a Dr for review as they don't know what's gonna happen now, they can't do another scan as it hasn't been a fortnight since my last one (had a growth one on Friday)
The lady doing the scan has put on my notes that baby was moving heaps but I only seen one movement, was babys knee Confused

I'm sorry this is still ongoing OP. It seems that the medical team are satisfied that there is no issue with placenta/baby's growth and therefore no reason to bring the C section forward.

If it was me the questions I would be asking are:

  1. Do you think that the baby's movements are normal?

If yes - then follow-up questions a) then why are the sonographers/midwives needing to shake your tummy to make the baby move? And b) why can you not feel them?

  1. If the baby's movements are NOT normal then why do they think this is?
  1. What is the plan going forward?
GKite · 25/07/2018 13:37

@reallybadidea
The only plan they want to stick to is section at 39 weeks

I will ask those questions thank you x

Have you had any more movements @gkite?

MadisonAvenue · 27/07/2018 13:13

Just checking in to see how you're doing OP Flowers

CoperCabana · 27/07/2018 13:56

Also wondering how things are going.

GKite · 27/07/2018 15:10

Hi
Was back at the hospital for ctg monitoring, had 8 movements today so far so now I'm panicking that baby might be in distress, I know 8 isn't much but it's the most I've had since this whole thing begun!
Hart rate was up a lil but towards the end came down so they "happy"
Back on Monday for the same 😔 I wish they'd take into account that I'm walking to the hospital, which is a good 40 minute away, with two kids who can't be quiet for 5 minutes, in this heat is hard going but they just don't care I suppose

GKite have you presented to the hospital as having reduced movements since you turned 37 weeks? I know you’ve been in for regular monitoring and told them you are concerned but IMO it’s a different care pathway once you are 37 weeks there is a much lower burden of proof (for want of a better phrase). If it was me I would consider, next time you have significantly reduced movements, call the maternity ward/go in/whatever the procedure is at your hospital. Ignore all the past baggage and just state you are worried about movements - baby is now term and see what they say?

Hjkillas · 27/07/2018 15:32

I think at this point you need to discuss how all this is affecting your mental health..
Please don't take that the wrong way but since I had my 3 episodes of reduced movements, scan to check baby, sweeps etc I'm a bag of nerves. And have physically had to buy aromatherapy oils and have baths on the dark to force my body to unwind.
I'm severely anxious, feel like I'm overreacting, and guilty for feeding my baby stress hormone!
My midwife has literally told me 'a mammal will not go into labour if she is in a stressful situation, picture being chased by a preditor' so I've had to seriously put effort into unwinding.

I'm not saying this does compare to you but being this worked up and stressed for up to 39 weeks? Cannot be good for you or baby.
I'm just worried about you x

Takfujimoto · 27/07/2018 15:43

That's good isn't it? Did you feel the movements yourself?

How high did the heart rate go and how long did they wait for it to come down and decided it was ok?

I also agree with the pp, I don't think anything from now until the section is going to reassure you but it's probably best for you and the baby to actively find ways to lessen the stress as much/if possible whilst still having your monitoring, also make sure you present if there are anymore reduced movements.

I don't know what the hospital could do about the walk and your other children though.
Could you get a taxi or is there a bus service that's close by?
All the hospitals I've been to have had bus routes that stop right outside.
Anyone that could take care of your children on the days you have to go in?
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time, but the increase of movements read as a good thing to me, try and see it as a positive. Thanks

GKite · 27/07/2018 18:22

I haven't just turned up without having an appointment booked, tbh I've become less worried now iyswim. Going 6 hours feeling no movement has become normal that I don't immediately panic.
My mental health is completely shot, I don't know whether I'm coming or going anymore.
I have 3 ctgs booked for next week and 3 different midwifes & locum Dr on duty said that I'll be glad when I get to the 8th/08 for section day so doesn't appear like they will bring it forward.
Babies weight is causing me concern though, in 3 weeks and not even put on a pound?
There is a bus but its hourly, meaning I will be at the hospital a good 45min before my appointment or depending on the time of the bus I'll miss it. Taxi I've done before but at 8 quid a time is quite expensive.
I usually walk but the heat is just becoming worse.
I didn't feel any movement on the monitor but have had a few big rolls today.
So heart rate went to 197 stayed around that mark, went down to 185, then down to 178. This was for 11 minutes, then the last three/four minutes went down to 143

Just read your thread. Sorry to hear they aren't taking your concerns as seriously as you'd like.

I noticed you'd mentioned you'd not been able to get hold of your consultant to discuss bringing forward your c section. Have you tried calling the hospital switchboard, ask to be put through to your consultants secretary, and then leave a message with her? Consultants secretaries tend to be the gate keepers and I'm sure if you gave her a brief synopsis of what's happened she'd get your consultant to call you back.

Hopefully you get to meet your healthy little one soon 🤞🏻

Rosarollo · 30/07/2018 00:31

How you doing op? Brew

skunkatanka · 30/07/2018 01:02

GKite · 01/08/2018 17:57

OP posts:
unicorncow · 01/08/2018 18:05

@GKite when are you booked in for c-section? I'm sure you're due around the same time as me

GKite · 01/08/2018 19:21

@unicorncow seven days now, they did say that if the growth of baby hasn't gone up by much they may be persuaded to bring the section forward to Monday x

OP posts:
unicorncow · 01/08/2018 20:22

@GKite I'm due 14th and booked for Tuesday, I'm so nervous! Not long now though and we'll have our babies in our arms!

GKite · 02/08/2018 01:17

@unicorncow I was originally due the 15th, ooh good luck!! You'll have to let me know how everything goes.
I wish they'd have done my section by now tbh, so fed up of being worried x
