Reduced movements - long sorry

Hi all, new here.
I'm 33w & 6d pregnant with my third. Since Thursday I've had reduced movement, to the point I can count on one hand how many movements I've felt.
I got checked over on Friday, booked in for an emergency growth scan which showed everything was fine (cord/placenta working beautifully the lady said, lots of fluid around baby, baby swallowing and doing lots of deep breaths in) and was checked over (by this I mean put on those monitors) again yesterday (Mon) which showed baby heart rate fine but a very sleepy baby - was on monitor from 12.15 to 2.30 and had 7 movements. In that time I started contracting so was given steriod injection as precaution but I'm so worried about not feeling anything, even now the last movement I remember feeling was about 5ish. I've tried laying on my side, going for a walk, having cold drinks and ice poles, eating something sweet, eating anything, rubbing my belly, talking to belly, poking belly. Do I just now suddenly have a sleepy baby? Is this at all normal? I'm back to hospital tomorrow for another monitoring & steriod injection but I've never experienced this before, has anybody?
V stressed

My post was concern not to make you feel bad. Others am sure feel the same. What a horrible situation but hopefully they are right and there is nothing that worry about. It’s so hard though when your gut tells you otherwise. Good luck tomorrow.

JustVent · 16/07/2018 12:43

OP I would have left as well.

Life isn’t as simple as ‘just stay in hospital.’
It just isn’t.

Good luck tomorrow’s CTG and have you felt any movements at all?

LostMyBaubles · 16/07/2018 13:16

OpFlowers completely understand the position you are in

I will prob get flamed for this but there have been times where baby has been a little quieter than usual (still moving but not as much) and ive not had the chance to get checked as like yourself I have other children.

My eldest is disabled so finding someone at such short notice to look after him properly is hard.

I would just comment some nice guidelines to them and like someone else has said take note of names and who said what/ when etc

Ps
I dont advise anyone to do what I did. Always try to get checked

Oh @GKite I am sorry that you feel like this and feel unsupported. I hope that you are ok. That is so hard.
Please do ring Tommy's midwives if you can to just chat it through with them. They have all the words and know all the guidelines that your hospital should be following for you. At least then when you go in tomorrow you might have more ammunition to be able to back yourself up with.

rainbowstardrops · 16/07/2018 21:13

Oh you poor love. I have my fingers firmly crossed that tomorrow will bring good news and put your mind at rest x

JustVent · 17/07/2018 07:39

How is everything going @GKite?

JustVent · 17/07/2018 07:40

Sorry I’ve just realised that today is CTG day.
Best of luck. X

GKite · 17/07/2018 10:35

Thank you, I was supposed to be seen at 10 and I'm still in the waiting room..
I only have an hour of childcare 😬
Anybody wanting to come to the highlands, their hospital is sh*t so avoid at all costs 🤣

Bibijayne · 17/07/2018 11:19

Glad everything is looking fine :)

GKite · 17/07/2018 11:26

@bibi you sound like one of the midwifes here lol but truth is I'm sat here in tears, not one movement this morning yet I'm still being waved out the door

OP posts:
JustVent · 17/07/2018 11:27

Why the sad face if everything looks fine?
That’s a good thing.

JustVent · 17/07/2018 11:27

X posted.
Did you call Tommy’s or Pals or take any of the other advice that’s been on there?

MynameisJune · 17/07/2018 12:00

Were there any movements on the trace? Less than 20mins isn’t good. I thought NICE guidelines where at least 30mins. And then the baby still needs to pass the trace.

dovegrey18 · 17/07/2018 14:20

How far along are you now OP? Thinking of you x

Smurf123 · 17/07/2018 14:34

Op the hospital sound so bizarre. I think I'd also try ringing tommys or something for advice.. When I was in for reduced movements I was on the monitor for 20ish mins then had to see a Dr and have a scan and then because I hadn't clicked to say I'd felt movements I had to go back on the monitor for another 45 mins and only allowed home when I had clicked to say I'd felt 10 (small not regular) movements in the time..

huha · 17/07/2018 14:43

Have they ruled out that the placenta isn't anterior therefore harder for you to feel movement? Sorry if I missed that part.

GKite · 17/07/2018 15:54

Some kind midwife went past and seen me look a bit sad, she asked if I was ok and I spilled my heart out. For the first time in two weeks (since this started) somebody actually just listened to how this is making me feel.
They explained that although I can't feel movements the ctg trace is showing a happy baby. I then said that I didn't feel ctg monitoring was enough and have been tempted to home a home section, they said there is no way they would section me in the next week but they may be a bit more likely to do it after 37 weeks.
She said to speak to my consultant as she'd be the only one that could push for it on my behalf.
I'm 35&6 so slowly getting there and no placenta isn't in the way x

GKite · 17/07/2018 15:59

I was tempted to do a section at home* is what that was supposed to say
Pals isn't available in Scotland and I have contacted Tommy through email so waiting to hear back

BlueBug45 · 17/07/2018 16:03

OP can you try and contact Tommy's on the phone? Unfortunately email is the slowest method of communication as frequently organisations take 5-10 days.

AssassinatedBeauty · 17/07/2018 16:03

This may be a silly question, and may have already been addressed although I couldn't spot it - but what is your baby's heart rate doing when you're not getting any movements? Have the midwives/doctors talked about that at all?

GKite · 17/07/2018 16:51

Blue yeah I will phone them but I'm not confident on the phone so preferred email,
Interestingly no @assassinated but heart rate is usually 130-138 until they shake/prod/make me move position then it'll go to 150 odd

OP posts:
LostMyBaubles · 17/07/2018 17:01

130 is ok from my own personal experience obv depends on baby
Last time I went trace went from 80- 180 and everything inbetween
80 was when they kept losing him on trace so kept on a little longer.
Was staying around the 140 mark but I was getting plenty movements once id been strapped to the machine

Tommys will help you feel confident enough to talk it out with the drs.
They will ease your nerves on the phone as you talk to them making it easier for you
