Reduced movements - long sorry

Hi all, new here.
I'm 33w & 6d pregnant with my third. Since Thursday I've had reduced movement, to the point I can count on one hand how many movements I've felt.
I got checked over on Friday, booked in for an emergency growth scan which showed everything was fine (cord/placenta working beautifully the lady said, lots of fluid around baby, baby swallowing and doing lots of deep breaths in) and was checked over (by this I mean put on those monitors) again yesterday (Mon) which showed baby heart rate fine but a very sleepy baby - was on monitor from 12.15 to 2.30 and had 7 movements. In that time I started contracting so was given steriod injection as precaution but I'm so worried about not feeling anything, even now the last movement I remember feeling was about 5ish. I've tried laying on my side, going for a walk, having cold drinks and ice poles, eating something sweet, eating anything, rubbing my belly, talking to belly, poking belly. Do I just now suddenly have a sleepy baby? Is this at all normal? I'm back to hospital tomorrow for another monitoring & steriod injection but I've never experienced this before, has anybody?
V stressed

I only had the one scan, which was yesterday baby didn't move to begin with but then slowly started moving about but I couldn't feel it. They haven't said how much fluid I have but basically they were pointing out I haven't lost any.
I'm back on the ctg monitor and they've said "it's beautiful" 🙄 but only had 2 movements
I can't be induced so has to be a section, and obviously I would rather not be having it so early on but I really don't understand what is causing this and it is causing me great stress.

That's them sent me away again, no other appointments booked 🤷

Well if you have to go back in again, then go back in.

To be fair your partner is being unhelpful as I find health care professionals more forth coming if I attend with someone.

GKite · 03/07/2018 14:58

My notes just say "aware to call if movements stay reduced" my partner just thinks like them and literally sees nothing wrong as the ctg been fine scan fine and obviously he wouldn't want the baby out so early so doesn't really speak up on my behalf, I've literally sobbed every day since Thursday, I don't feel my baby and its such a horrendous feeling after getting so much movement before.
I just know the next couple hours will pass with next to no movement again

I'm in my way in for a scan because I presented yesterday with reduced movement. I'm 30+2. I was on the heart monitor thing for over 40 mins yesterday and pressed the button 4 times, even though the machine was showing heartbeat between 140-160 and with little peaks and troughs. The MW said it was moving "a lot" and I just said "I can't feel it". Posterior placenta also. Very frustrating.
Will see how the scan goes at 4pm. How are you OP?

BlueBug45 · 03/07/2018 15:05

OP is there anyone else - family member, friend, neighbour or sensible acquaintance - you can think off to call on to come with you next time? Rack your brains. You will be surprised how random people can be more useful in situations like this than some people closer to you.

GKite · 03/07/2018 15:12

I don't even want to phone back up or have to go in again as they just make me feel stupid. It was the midwife who said I could go so I finally spoke up and said I would like to speak to the Dr and then he said that I wouldn't need another scan as everything is fine so clearly I'm just making a fuss.
Midwife then went and showed other midwifes the trace from my ctg and they're all like beautiful"really nice" "uhuh she can just go"

Go to a different hospital

GKite · 03/07/2018 15:28

There's not another one for 4hr :/

BlueBug45 · 03/07/2018 15:36

OP you may have to go back in, and if you go with someone who understands your worries it would be better for you.

lisaBee123 · 03/07/2018 15:37

If you have further reduced movements just go back, I know it's tempting to not want to be a pain or cause a fuss but this is your baby and it's their job to see you.

Even if you go in every day and are a massive pain to them so what? You'll never need to see them again after baby is born and they will forget and someone else will be coming in and the cycle will continue.

Don't let yourself be fobbed off if you really feel something is wrong xx

GKite · 03/07/2018 16:05

Obviously I will go back but I just feel like such a time waster, and with them keep repeating that everything is fine just adds to that.
I'm so upset but if they don't want to get the baby out then there's nothing more I can do I guess
Does it sound like I'm over reacting?

lisaBee123 · 03/07/2018 16:23

No no, I suppose they are weighing thins up. I was really poorly and still they would only give me a section a week early and I had started to have renal failure. They will argue that they think it looks fine and that they won't take a baby early due to all the possible problems with prematurity. Obviously that's a very real possibility and prematurity brings it's own problems I would imagine.

But I don't think you are being a time waster at all. YOU know your body better than anyone, all the consultants in the world wouldn't know your baby's patterns better than you. Don't doubt yourself x

nightwispa · 03/07/2018 17:48

@GKite- I took in the Tommy's baby movement leaflet today in an attempt to get the midwives to take me seriously. It worked.

sausagerollsontheside · 06/07/2018 17:48

How are you

GKite · 07/07/2018 20:44

Hi sausage, just seen this sorry.
Movements have picked up, on the 5th I had 7 movements all day, 6th I had 7 again and today I've had 9.
I had an anaesthetist appointment on the 4th and got put on the monitor for 6 min but they said everything was fine again and just to call if they stay reduced.
Still not really happy but not sure what else I can do, I'm due to see the midwife on Friday for my last ever appointment and honestly I've never felt so alone. Maybe because it's my third baby but I have only seen the community midwife 3 times, one was my booking appointment, the other being a 16 week appointment, and an appointment at 30 weeks. Then this last one, so 4 appointments in 39 weeks

You'll be nearly 36 weeks when you see the midwife? Tell her exactly how you feel, keep going in with reduced movements. Surely at 37 weeks they'll be a bit more open to inducing you as you will Be term? We were initially targeted 32 weeks, then 34, we were told if we got to 37 then the baby would be out regardless. Maybe take someone with you to help advocate for you, I know for a fact I settle for things a lot easier when I am alone. In my case hubby was surprisingly assertive (most unlike him) and helped to question the process and stick up for me and baby.

Keep at them, I truly believe Mum knows best (and our consultant agreed), you won't regret it honestly!

GKite · 07/07/2018 21:05

I'll be 35&2 if I remember correctly (due the 15th but having c section on the 8th)
I can't be induced, has to be a c section which is why I think they are more reluctant to do anything but don't know as I've never actually dealt with this before.
I am happy that movement has picked up and maybe it was just the way baby was layed? But then I feel like that's just my excuse instead of trying to attain whether or not something is more seriously wrong. I just don't understand how I can have well over 15 movements, to 2 a day and with no issues like placenta in the way, doesn't seem right
Thank you

Thetimehascometo · 07/07/2018 21:41

If you're happy it's picked up then great. I can't remember if you have had a Doppler scan done to check pressure in the placenta and cord (this was our deciding factor along with stalled growth) if all of that is looking good and movements are better then happy days! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Our premie is our first, so I'm unsure how much more demanding they are than term babies. But for us it's been a scary journey at times so if you can safely avoid it keep that baby cooking

DuggeeHugs · 07/07/2018 21:45

Oh OP, your situation takes me back a year.

The last trimester of DC2s pregnancy was awful. I was monitored several times each week and they just couldn't figure out what the problem was until she was delivered. All looked ok on the scan.

DD was an ELCS at 38+6 because I'd refused a VBAC. There was never any suggestion of delivering earlier than this despite all the worry about why the movements kept reducing.

All I can say is keep going in as soon as you feel you need to. Don't ever feel like you should just ignore it because they don't appear to be as worried as you are Flowers

GKite · 13/07/2018 12:47

Hello, just a wee update
Been to see midwife, as soon as I told her I hadn't felt movement since Wednesday she's marched me up to the hospital, had a doppler scan instead of growth scan. Baby had no movement on the scan 😭 and only doing very shallow breathing 😭 just waiting to see the Dr now

rainbowstardrops · 13/07/2018 13:00

Oh you poor love. I have my fingers firmly crossed that all is ok Thanks

Iwantaunicorn · 13/07/2018 13:06

I had reduced movements at 35 weeks (twin pregnancy) drs said that it was due to all the fluids.

I have everything crossed you and bubba are safe and well 💐

ReevaDiva · 13/07/2018 13:10

Good luck @GKite hopefully they're all over things now. Thanks

holyshitdude · 13/07/2018 13:13
