I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I guess our work aren't going to be thrilled about it silver and while they may have some genuine sympathy they have to look after their business! Hope they they get back to you quickly though, I've been anxious all morning thinking about that phonecall so totally get you.

8DaysAWeek · 08/10/2018 13:03

They sound really helpful Sasseh. Being as prepared as possible seems to be the way forward with this.

SeaEagleFeather · 08/10/2018 14:31

8daysaweek one thing that can help with peeing when you upchuck. If you kneel down and rest your crotch on one heel then it puts pressure there and can help stop the pee come out.

isn't pregnancy with HG elegant?

beanhunter · 08/10/2018 14:47

Liners are the only solution I think.
So I have my new line which was remarkably ok and can stay in for up to 3 months if it needs to. About to have some fluids then hopefully home later.

eallison88 · 08/10/2018 16:32

The heel/pee worked wonders most of the time for me (only in the full on awful 20minute heavefests did it fail me) last time.oh the wonderful things we endure to try and make HG less distressing than it already is

8DaysAWeek · 08/10/2018 17:43

Heel... Crotch... Got it!

Kel55 · 08/10/2018 19:15

Hi all sorry to hear so many of us are suffering so bad.
I went to Drs Friday and got ranitidine prescribed. Unfortunately it's not made any difference so far.
Went to hospital this morning for bloods and the drive was awful. I had to keep pulling over. Felt so sick.

Foreverblues we went on holiday a couple of months back and I felt so much better on holiday.
Got home and felt awful again.
I also think there's something about the smell of ur own home. I gag everytime I walk in my front door yet I don't feel like that going in other ppls houses. My house just seems to stink. But wen I ask oh and kids they say it doesn't smell at all.

LucindaE · 08/10/2018 20:21

Kel155 Sorry Ranitidine hasn't helped. Several people on here comment on the smell of one's own home. The fridge seemed dreadful to me.
SeaEagleFeather Good advice, as ever! Saves many a puddle on the bathroom floor!
SassehMonsta I am glad PSS were helpful. What meds did you say you have over?
Silversplodge and 8DaysAWeek Sorry about the offhand attitude of work and bosses.
BobbieLee It's bad it takes so long to get an appointment when you have been ill so long. Sad Keeping fngers crossed it is a slow labour start.
Waves to all...

So I've worked out that I was 6 weeks pregnant when I was admitted to hospital last time to be hooked up to a drip and diagnosed. We think (no post period bleed so it's all a bit of a guess) that I'm 5werks now. So at this point last time the sickness was really starting to ramp up. So far this time ove only had a few waves of nausea that have lasted a few hours. So it would seem that the cyclizine is keeping a lid on things currently. Its just the waiting game now, seeing what the next few weeks bring. I'm finding it so hard to work out what to plan ahead for with work. Obviously, not mentioned it yo anyone there, but last time I was off completely for 10 weeks, then 6 weeks of reduced hours. This has a massive impact as I'm the only one in my role and if I don't do stuff them stuff doesn't get done. None of it is critical to the nature of the place I work, really. But when I went back after maternity leave last time it was like I was starting my job from scratch again (No maternity cover). I'd really like not to have to do that again.

eallison88 · 08/10/2018 21:22

I don't know. I just hate not knowing. And you guys must hate me sitting her being upset that I'm not being sick yet!! Sorry!!!!

Bobbielee91 · 08/10/2018 21:59

I know, need to change doctors surgery tbh.

I think it was my body playing games last night, no such pains etc today so no labour 👎🏻.

12 days til due date! 🤞🏼💙.

Hope everyone is doing well (as well as you can with HG) x

Foodylicious · 09/10/2018 03:20

Hotchocolate86 · 09/10/2018 07:21

Congratulations foody. What a beautiful baby. I hope you are feeling much better.

TwoDrifters · 09/10/2018 08:37

Oh how gorgeous! Congratulations foody - how was the post-birth tea & toast??

Mammabear13 · 09/10/2018 09:05

What a sweetie foody congratulations Flowers hope you are feeling much better!

bobbielee hope your little one puts in an appearance soon.

Eallison don't worry about letting off steam on here. Whilst it is good to not be sick yet, the waiting game isn't nice at all, especially when you know what's coming!

silversplodge · 09/10/2018 09:57

I've woken up to find I'm bleeding again so feeling very sorry for myself.
Seen the GP who did find the heart beat on the Doppler, which is obviously very reassuring, but wouldn't send me for a scan as "if it's a sign the placenta has started to come away, the scan won't stop the problem or change the outcome".

I appreciate that is true, but nevertheless Confused

SassehMonsta · 09/10/2018 10:30

I was on Stemtil, and now gone backwards almost to Cyclzine. Dr wouldn't listen when I pointed out that it hadn't worked at all last time, so having to give it a go before he would have me in to check my urine and prescribe me something stronger.

However, that being said, I have managed a few nibbles of food and a biscuit or 2 this morning on cyclzine, which is more than I managed on Stemtil. 6+5 today, trousers too tight at work. Can't wait for scan next week at 8+1! Hanging out with @Eallison, in the waiting to be sick club.

eallison88 · 09/10/2018 11:51

Waiting is over... This morning I took my son to our dance class (we do it with a fellow mummy friend). Had to ask my friend to keep an eye on my son so I could dash to the loo. I felt awful when I went back, he was breaking his little heart cos I wasn't with him. I feel so guilty that This is basically how it's gonna be for him for the next few months at best. We're now home and I'm afraid the telly is on while I'm collapsed on the sofa psyching myself up to preparing lunch.

Congratulations foody! Enjoy all the gorgoues newborn snuggles and, of course, being able to eat and drink again!

SassehMonsta · 09/10/2018 12:24

Dry heaving has started again today. A lot less nausea than yesterday though, maybe the cyclizine is doing something? I can only nibble on rich tea biscuits, constantly, otherwise its vile.

8DaysAWeek · 09/10/2018 12:30

Congratulations foody! How are you feeling??

Sorry to hear that silver. Definitely reassuring that the heartbeat was found. A scan may not change the outcome but it could give you much needed understanding of what's happening. It's strange, some places send you directly for a scan for any bleeding, and others take this wait and see approach. I scrolled back quite a bit but couldn't find the last time you were bleeding, what happened then? Flowers

silversplodge · 09/10/2018 12:47

8days, last time was similar to this, went to toilet and looked to see it full of blood. Referred to EPU then but no apts for 4 days. Night before booked scan felt dreadful and got a fever so 111 sent me to A+E. Waited literally 8 hours to see anyone as it was heaving (not exaggerating), gynae Dr did an exam and told me the baby was half out my cervix. Admitted overnight to the 'snowdrops' bereavement room and had to go to the toilet in a sick bowl and show it to the nurses so they could find the baby when it came away. Went to the pre planned scan the next day and told baby is fine, waving away, just a blood clot in my cervix. Gynae saw me on the ward and told me to go home, no further scans needed. I bled like a period for maybe 2 weeks after but it had stopped. Now again gone to the toilet and full of blood. But bleeding has slowed down a lot already this time.
Still feeling just as sick too so taking that as a good sign.

Foreverblues · 09/10/2018 12:54

Feeling quite lonely today guys. Feel like I can’t see any of my friends because they will instantly know I’m pregnant and I don’t really want to tell anyone til had first scan. But the people who do know (family) probably can’t really comprehend it. I think some of them may think I’m putting it on a bit now because I’m not vomiting anymore and was ok on holiday. But I just constantly feel sick 😩 x

8DaysAWeek · 09/10/2018 12:55

Omg that sounds so traumatic! I am so sorry you went through that. What a time you're having :( that's positive the bleeding isn't as bad this time.
