I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

SeaEagleFeather · 02/09/2018 19:20

No, it won't be that pob. Some days are just more active than others! Also, the baby takes what it needs from you. You might not get much nutrition, but the little bugger gets all it needs so long as you don't go too long without liquid (or weeks without vitamins).

One day will be fine.

LucindaE · 02/09/2018 20:12

Pob13 Sorry about the anxiety. Great advice from SeaEagleFeather as always. If you are anxious about the lack of movement, I believe orange juice is the thing to get them going, so I think Blondeshavemorefun found out. Probably other drinks with sugar in might do the trick!

Amazingly a better day today and actually managed to eat something resembling 2 meals. Sure the laxatives have helped too. Of course I’m now panicking that the fact I’ve had a good day is because actually the baby has stopped growing.

Pob13 · 02/09/2018 22:13

@SeaEagleFeather thank you. Baby has been wriggling away today so i think it was just having an off day.

LucindaE · 03/09/2018 20:02

beanhunter Sufferers on this thread do have that quandry -a good day makes them anxious, but then the sickness returns. Try not to get too anxious, the chances are very much on your side that all is well. A good day can be the sign of the turnaround in the future, with more good days.
Pob13 That is great news.
I am still delighted about Boredoftryingusername's beautiful baby and short labour. I hope the lingering nausea has worn off for her.
I hope everyone is coping today.

Boredoftryingusernames · 03/09/2018 23:18

Thank you so much Lucinda, I am really pleased to say that after a few days still feeling fairly queasy, yesterday and today the nausea has disappeared! Chocolate tastes like chocolate again! I can honestly say that as terrible as this pregnancy has been all is forgiven and forgotten (well, kind of!) looking at her little face. Keep on trudging through everyone, day at a time - all worth it in the end Smile

Hotchocolate86 · 04/09/2018 10:32

I’m glad you are feeling better bored. They do make it all feel worth it when they arrive. 4 weeks max to go for me. I’m properly on a countdown now. I’m so ready to meet the baby.

Boredoftryingusernames · 04/09/2018 10:46

Getting so close Hotchocolate how are you?

beanhunter · 04/09/2018 11:10

Thanks Lucinda. The rational bit of my head is back on today, coupled with nausea and lots of antiemetics. Having to function today as Inset day and no holiday clubs so on parental duty. Appointment with recurrent mc clinic and scan tomorrow so lots of nerves.

Hotchocolate86 · 04/09/2018 11:27

Good luck for tomorrow beanhunter. I hope all goes well.
I am coping bored. Thank you for asking. I have constant nausea and still dry heave a fair bit. Also a bit of pelvic pain and backache but as long as I don’t do too much I’m relatively ok. I think that’s the best I can hope for right now. I’m just mentally ticking off the days now. I’m a bit nervous about the birth though as I have a planned c section but fingers crossed it will go well.

Olivecake · 04/09/2018 19:43

Good luck tomorrow beanhunter - let us know how it goes. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and am a bag of nerves for it. I know it’s probably nonsense but I can’t shake the feeling that the baby is suffering terribly because I can never manage my vitamins.

Hotchocolate86 · 04/09/2018 20:35

Good luck olivecake. I have barely managed any vitamins and so far baby seems ok. Touch wood.

LucindaE · 04/09/2018 20:41

Beanhunter and Olivecake All luck for appointments. Beanhunter Check ups are an anxious time after miscarriage(s). The odds are on your side. Olivecake Everyone worries about not being able to eat properly , but the babies thrive, taking what they need, which is one of the reasons you feel so terrible. We have had some whoppers on this thread grown on a diet largely of tinned peaches, chips and full sugar coke.
Hotchocolate Sorry nausea and heaving is back, and I am so glad you are on the home stretch to the famous drawbridge leading to the Pink Castle.
Boredoftryingusernames I am so glad that it has gone. Wonderful.
Here's some Flowers as I made a typing error and you didn't get any before. Thanks for such a lovely encouraging message.
Waves to all.

Congratulations @Boredoftryingusernames!
What an amazingly quick labour! She's gorgeous and I'm so glad that your nausea has disappeared now.
Best of wishes to everyone still struggling. Our baby girl is now 2 weeks old and the nausea now feels like a distant memory. (I've had other fun stuff to contend with like anemia after a PPH and healing from an episiotomy but this feels easy compared to the relentless nausea and vomiting!)

Olivecake · 05/09/2018 14:32

ohiwa she is so gorgeous!! What a cutie. Hope you’re recovering well.

20 week scan went well, so relieved!!! Baby was wriggling away the whole time and difficult to measure but sonographer was really happy with everything , I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I can actually start to picture the pink castle in my future!

Melbabes6 · 05/09/2018 14:35

Hi all!

I'm 4 weeks with No2...found out last week. I have been taking Avomine (used in previous pregnancy) once a day but feeling more sick with every day that passes. So terrified of being sick 😞

beanhunter · 05/09/2018 15:23

scan Ok today and ondansetron supplies replenished. Anxious day as bleeding again today.

LucindaE · 05/09/2018 21:56

Melbabes5 Welcome. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am glad you have got meds. I don't know much about Avomine. Was this part of a pre emptive drugs plan with your doctor and was it effective for you before? I do hope you escape Hyperemesis this time. Many can handle it better with experience of what helps them. As you are a veteran you don't kneed my ''have you got kesostix' and 'do you find full sugar, flat coke and ice lollies and the juice of tinned fruit' spiel. You will find a lot of support on here.
Ohiwa Congratulations. Flowers What a sweet baby. A lovely photo. Thank you so much for your encouraging message. Star Brew Smile
beanhunter I am sorry to hear of that, but glad the scan went OK.
Were they able to reassure you about the bleeding or did it start afterwards? Much sympathy.
Olivecake So glad you had a good scan and are now able to imagine reaching the Pink Castle.

Hi Everyone for some reason I'm no longer getting emails about this group... I thought it had all gone quiet!
Got out of hospital last friday- third admission in as many weeks. They say I have an overactive thyroid which isn't helping and that I will see a specialist next week but already can feel myself slipping back and unable to eat anything of use or drink water. It's not the sickness I'm minding so much now I just feel so low about it and can't seem to pull myself out of it. Wanted this baby more than anything just had no idea making it could be quite this hard!
Sorry to moan, it just feels so isolating sometimes. Anyone else feel the same? Or know anything about thyroid or how to stay away from hospital?!?
Waves to everyone and sorry to be miserable xxx

Lucybex · 05/09/2018 23:26

Also big love to you beanhunter. I hope your next scan is even more reassuring... A tough bean indeed :)

Foodylicious · 06/09/2018 12:34

Checking in as I had fallen off the thread.
Heart burn been ramping up again and was suddenly sick last night.

Baby feel VERY low down and pretty uncomfy.
36 weeks tomorrow...

Getting scrolling sea sickness today.
Good news from the scan beanhunter. Sorry you are having such a worrying time

Hotchocolate86 · 06/09/2018 12:47

HG is very isolating lucy. I still find that now as I had to finish work early and am not able to do much.
I’m glad to hear the scans went well olivecake and beanhunter.
Sorry to hear about the sickness episode foody. It must feel good to be reaching 36 weeks though. Not long to go now.

SeaEagleFeather · 06/09/2018 14:39

owwww ohiwa how lovely! congratulations =)

melbabe congratulations and good luck! beautiful baby :)

lucy HG is so isolating, physically and mentally since few people really get it. It's so frustrating not being able to do your normal stuff as well

ONe of the flips sides is that after two HG pregnancies (and other sickness, admittedly) I really appreciate a sense of wellness now! The memory of the sickness fades a lot, too.

Bailey8 · 06/09/2018 19:36

I hadn’t been getting notifications either, wondered where everyone had gone!

Glad scans went well olive cake and bean hunter

Foodylicious not long to go now!!

Lucybex I find it very isolated especially as we haven’t announced yet so can’t talk about it with friends etc. It’s very difficult

I’ve been going downhill, keytones were ok this morning but gp checked again tonight and were at 2. He tried to get the hospital to admit me but they’ve refused and said not until I’m at +3 keytones so I just feel horrific now. They want me to take the Ondansetron again but I’m so reluctant with the horrific stomach cramps it immediately gives me

LucindaE · 06/09/2018 22:05

Oh dear, that people haven't been getting thread notifications. I have found it quiet, and wondered why!
Lucybex You poor thing. I do feel for you. Things will almost certainly get better. How far along are you, and what meds have they put you on? Did you say the overactive thyroid precludes many of them? It's awful you've had to keep going in. Never apologise for moaning, that's what this thread is for. A lot of people can't endure plain water, do you find Elderflower water or soda water any good or sugary drinks like full sugar flat coke or the juice of tinned fruit any good?
Bailey8 Poor you as well. It's too bad the GP couldn't get you in hospital. I suppose, unluckily, you will probably be going back in tomorrow if things don't look up. A lot of peole on here say that they find that the ketones aren't even a reliable judge of dehydration, so that policy of the hospitals is unfortunate.
Foodylicious Congratulations on 36 weeks. Sorry about heartburn leading to vomiting. That is painful. I am sure you have tried all the brands by now! At least you are on the home run, like HotChocolate. Great advice from SeaEagleFeather and everyone.
Apologies ot anyone rudely overlooked.
