Not me Smile Going through a tired phase and barely functioning.

Melaniesunflower · 12/08/2018 14:36

I've had a sore back this week, but think it's just been a muscle spasm/ trapped nerve, as it's finally easing off. No nesting yet, but I think it'll come into full force when we move

BrewsD · 12/08/2018 14:50

Baby has been super active in the last couple weeks, to the point the kicks are painful... especially at night and after exercise.

Finally have a little bump to show and changed into comfy maternity jeans.
Have a friends wedding coming up next month, with bump suddenly growing I may need to rethink what dress I'm wearing!

Trying to make plans for Christmas, hoping to go back to Ireland from London for the holidays but with due date of Nov 29th it may not be possible. Just have to wait and see!

shallen · 12/08/2018 18:42

@ND348
I was going to, planned on clearing out all the kitchen cupboards and sorting through it all........ then I fell asleep on the sofa!
So tired at the moment!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 12/08/2018 18:52

I'm on call tonight which means I could expect a phone call any time between now and midnight. The thought of staying awake makes me want to cry!

Emma198 · 12/08/2018 20:05

I've been to maternity unit with reduced movements today. Hadn't felt much since yesterday lunch time and none of the things I'd normally do to get movements were working. All good and she's been kicking away nicely most of the afternoon but wasn't a very nice morning!

Midwife was so lovely and was stroking my hand while listening to heartbeat, made me feel good about going in to have her ❤

@Emma198 I'm sure these babies are just gearing us all up for a lifetime of stress and worry!

Mine literally hasn't stopped moving all day, I've been sat around reading a book most of today so I'm sure I'm just not noticing it as much whilst I'm working

Emma198 · 12/08/2018 20:21

Even midwife said that given we're having a girl, this is will end up being the least of our worries!

@Another I definitely feel more when I'm having a quiet day myself. How long until your next scan?

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 12/08/2018 20:28

Next one is Thursday, third and final attempt at "20" week scan. Then I have another one the following Friday I think.

And we definitely did not spend Friday lunchtime scanning ourselves at work. Absolutely not...

Emma198 · 12/08/2018 20:30

What do you mean?! Scanning yourselves with the animal ultrasound?! 🤣🤣

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 12/08/2018 20:33

It's more a human ultrasound used for animals. Not the best though scanner though and my baby was too big to see well. Definitely couldn't tell the sex!

Just checked and next scan dates are 16th, and 24th August and then 21st September. Surely we must get a "bits" view at some stage?!

Emma198 · 12/08/2018 20:55

Hahaha. Yes surely you'll see! I have one on 4 September when I'm 28 weeks then I'll have one at 32 and 36. I'm hoping she stays a girl because she has so many clothes now.

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 12/08/2018 20:58

We have so many white, grey and beige things, it's so boring! I've got a scan at least every 4 weeks from 24 weeks so hoping to see something at some stage. I'm loving all the girls dinosaur clothes in Next and JoJo but I'm sure it's a boy.

shallen · 12/08/2018 21:12

@Emma198 glad to hear everything is ok.
out of interest, what would you call reduced movements? It's the phrase that seems to be used, would you say literally no movement or just not as strong or frequent as before? I'm a bit confused as to what to look out for!

Mine seems to go through phases of being a bit quieter then as I start to worry she starts wiggling around!

Emma198 · 12/08/2018 21:28

Thanks @Shallen. It's all to do with your own baby's routine. They say any slowing down of movements you should get checked.

I'm so used to mine being really active regularly throughout the day, and I feel her a lot when I go to bed and when I wake up.

We were with my family yesterday and out from about 12 until after seven. Usually if I'm busy in the day she's even more active at night because she moves less when I move around a lot, apparently the movement rocks them to sleep. But felt very little last night, had a bath, ate some chocolate, cold drink, lay on my side, felt a couple of movements and one strong kick but nothing close to what I normally expect.

Again this morning, I woke up and couldn't feel her. Ate some more chocolate (she likes it Grin) had a cold drink and walked around and still nothing.

Rang maternity at about 9 and they asked me to go in at half ten. They can't monitor on machines until 28 weeks but she listened for around 5 minutes to her heartbeat and felt my stomach, took my temperature and blood pressure. Said she had no concerns and baby sounded healthy.

I've attached a pic of the sheet my midwife gave me about it. I asked today if the 'routine' she should be getting in to is daily or if I notice that she moves a lot one day and is quiet the next, that is a routine in itself. She said that at the moment she's small enough to move around so I can't always feel her movements but in the coming weeks I should be noticing she moves roughly the same amount each day.

Turns out today she'd gone and snuggled in right at the back on my pelvis which is why we suspect I couldn't feel her, she was well tucked in at the back but still moving around.

@Emma198 sounds so scary but so glad you've been checked out and all is well 💖

AnotherOriginalUsername · 13/08/2018 10:09

Has anyone elses hair gone mad or is it just mine?! I usually have it cut every 8 weeks but currently booking every 4!

sailing123 · 13/08/2018 12:09

hello - i had this exact thing from around 17 weeks to 20 weeks - i saw an osteopath who said it was my 'piriformis' muscle being strained from other pressure on my spine etc due to pregancy. he manipulated it and did some massage and i had 2 sessions with him over 2 weeks and it's now totally gone. If you google piriformis muscle you could work out if this is the same as what you are having? the osteo i saw said its really common during pregnancy. he gave me some exersises to do, one which i found the best and helped stretched it was put the foot of the side where it hurts on to the knee/lap of your other leg and then push the bent knee downwards, it should stretch out the muscle from the top of you bum down your thigh and feel a lot better. Or if you have the time (and £!) you could see an osteopath too? hope you feel better - i (literally) feel your pain! xx

sailing123 · 13/08/2018 12:10

sorry that previous message about bum pain was for @greengooner! xxx

shallen · 13/08/2018 12:33

@Emma198
Thank you so much for your message last night, It prompted me to also go to the hospital as I just couldn't get the paranoia out of my head!! She had been moving a little bit over the weekend but nothing like as much as she normally does and I'd been quietly worrying about it for a day.

Decided to go and luckily, everything was ok, sounds like it was the same as you and she was hiding at the back.
Sod's law in the car on the way there she was leaping about like a loony and same late last night and this morning when I'm trying to sleep!!
We have decided she is grounded as soon as she comes out for causing us worry!!

Emma198 · 13/08/2018 13:00

@Shallen I got my first kick of the day yesterday waiting for the midwife to bring Doppler through 🙄 they're trouble aren't they!

@Another I have a hair integration piece after I started losing my hair when I got the copper coil and it's never recovered (be warned everyone!) I've had to book to get it tightened again after 3 weeks instead of the usual six! I'm going to get it taken off to see my hair underneath and see if it's any better volume wise, I'd like to stop wearing the piece once baby is here.

Emma198 · 13/08/2018 13:01

@Shallen sorry meant to say, glad yours was ok too! I was half expecting to be treated like a bit of a pain but they just kept saying to go back if it happens again or doesn't pick up. She didn't start kicking again until later in the day but so good to put mind at ease xx

@Emma198 I was warned that my hair would go mad but didn't quite expect this! I have short hair though (predominantly shaved actually) so maybe it's just more noticeable. Progesterone makes your hair grow, there's been numerous studies on it. A friend of mine is transgender and used to wear a wig as a previously balding male, but since being on hormone therapy for 9 months has thick shoulder length hair!

Emma198 · 13/08/2018 14:09

We think the cause of my hair loss might be hormonal and it's largely thought that pregnancy 'resets' your hormones, so I'm hoping that the positive effects will continue after pregnancy too and I can ditch the fake hair, as much as I'm grateful for it now!

OP posts:
shallen · 13/08/2018 14:37

I lost a lot of hair when I came off the pill after being on it for many years, went to doctor as didn't know it was a thing and was told it's really hormone driven. That's why a lot of people lose a lot of hair when they have a baby!...... something to look forward to there!
