I’ve just had my BFP after 3 years of trying, will be DC2 (touches wood). The NHS due date calculator has my due date around the 2nd Feb. Anyone else ready to jump on board? Grin

@GetInMyNelly I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you have people looking after you.

Seafoodeatit · 16/06/2018 08:45

Welcome to the new members!

I feel so horrible today, I woke up at 5 feeling sick and I've barely moved from the sofa since, every time I move I want to vomit.

FrowningFlamingo · 16/06/2018 08:52

Oh hi @bubblybrit ! Nice to see another familiar name!

I feel ok this morning, less sick than yesterday but I'm not too concerned as I stress a lot about work and usually feel a bit sick on weekdays but better on the weekend. I could only manage half my breakfast this morning which is unlike me.

We are visiting my grandad today so I think we will tell him. I would have preferred to have a scan first but he lives a while away and although we talk on the phone I'd rather do it face to face so will take the opportunity today! He's 92! I think he will be really pleased though possibly a little sad as my grandma recently died, I'm sad it didn't happen before then and I suspect he will be a bit too...

ronniemipperton · 16/06/2018 08:57

Congrats @bubblybrit and @elocwildflowerxx Smile

I called my GP, they gave me the number for the midwife which was just a recorded message telling me to self-refer online. I’ve done that but suspect it’ll take a while before anyone gets in touch based on my previous experiences of anything health related in my borough...

I’ve got a private scan booked for Friday when I’ll be 7+1 - bit earlier than I’d like but we’re going on a walking holiday for a week after that so I’m keen to know how things are looking before we go.

My mum is a huge worrier and keeps telling me I shouldn’t go on the walking holiday which is a bit frustrating. I know she’s just worried about me but it’s making me wish I hadn’t told her.

bubblybrit · 16/06/2018 09:09

@FrowningFlamingo @ronniemipperton. Hello 👋!! Good to see you both.

@FrowningFlamingo. I’m sure your grandad will be delighted. I’m sorry about your grandma but I’m sure she is looking down at you with a huge smile on her face 🙂

@ronniemipperton. Yes my mum is a worrier as well. She is on holiday at the minute so can’t share my news with her at present. Although when I do I am expecting her to call and drop in constantly! It’s her first grandchild so I guess it’s to be expected? Hope you enjoy your working holiday x

ronniemipperton · 16/06/2018 09:14

@bubblybrit my parents already have 3 (4 in a few weeks as my SIL is due) grandkids so my mum should really be a bit calmer! She knows it’s taken us ages to conceive though and had several miscarriages and an ectopic herself, so it’s understandable. Fortunately she lives a couple of hundred miles away so dropping in isn’t really an option Grin

Babybeany · 16/06/2018 09:29

So, here is a pickle... I have received my appointment for my first scan (yay!). I work part time as a animator for a parent and baby group. My appointment falls on a working day. How do I tell my boss I can’t work that day without telling her the whole story?! I’d prefer not to change my appointment as the hospital can ged a bit befuddled and I’m worried I might end up having to wait even longer for it or I might lose it completely! If I simply tell her I have a drs appointment she will question why I can’t have it on my normal day off 😬 HELP!

bubblybrit · 16/06/2018 09:32

@ronniemipperton. Sounds as if she is just being a little over protective but under the circumstances I guess I can understand why. My DPs live less than 30 mins away so I’ll be seeing a lot of them. MIL even closer lol 🙂 although I like that my family are so close (distance and relationship wise)

hayley013 · 16/06/2018 09:34

We told parents yesterday and I told my Granny, all were really pleased, my mum cried but it doesn't take much haha. I'm surprised, I'm feeling quite ok, the nausea mostly hits me at nightime. With my dd I was sooo poorly at this stage with sickness, just hoping it's not delaying its onset haha.

@elocwildflowerxx we have a 4 year old daughter, who asks for a sibling almost daily, though I still feel a little anxious about how she'll be with a baby in the house, I feel like that sounds silly, maybe I'm just being sensitive lol. She starts school in September which will hopefully help the situation.

ronniemipperton · 16/06/2018 09:37

@Babybeany could you just say a hospital appointment but gloss over what it’s for?

ronniemipperton · 16/06/2018 09:40

@bubbybrit I just realised my last post made me sound like a slightly terrible person! We are hoping to move closer to my parents in a year or so as it does feel too far at the moment. I am just having a delayed sulky teenager moment as she’s trying to stop me going on a holiday I’ve been looking forward to for ages!

FrowningFlamingo · 16/06/2018 09:41

babybeany I told my boss I had a hospital outpatient appt and I'd asked for it to be moved to a Wednesday (my day off) but they don't run the right clinic that day. Seems to have worked.

FrowningFlamingo · 16/06/2018 09:44

Also, do DHs come to the booking appt?? Mine can as he's working from home that day but I don't want to be the weirdo if that's not the 'done thing' Grin

bubblybrit · 16/06/2018 09:46

@ronniemipperton. Not at all! My DM can be quite imposing so sometimes it would be nice if she stayed further out haha!! 🙂

bubblybrit · 16/06/2018 09:47

@FrowningFlamingo. I was thinking the same thing. My DH asked last night if he should attend and I was like 🤷‍♀️

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 16/06/2018 09:56

@bubblybrit @FrowningFlamingo my OH didn't come to my last one and he won't be coming to this one...the booking in appt is pretty dull-just a lot of form filling etc. They definitely don't need to be there!!

FrowningFlamingo · 16/06/2018 10:02

Thanks Tittifers!

Babybeany · 16/06/2018 10:04

@bubblybrit and @FrowningFlamingo I guess it’s up to you and yours... it is just a lot of form filling etc. My boyfriend came along last time as my brain is awful especially babybrain! 🤪 So he remembered everything I obviously forgot! Plus he actually wanted to. They are definitely invited though x

TheMagicTorch · 16/06/2018 10:05

@babybeany & @bubblybrit Hi from the June bus Smile
We've just moved house so need to transfer to the local Dr and then call and see what happens, totally clueless as this is our first 🤷‍♂️
Will be due around end of Feb according to NHS calculator

maxiflump1 · 16/06/2018 10:05

My DH only came to me scan appointments in my last pregnancy. I'm likely to be consultant led this time due to a very nasty tear when I had DS so he'll be coming to those as he's much better at pushing for what we want than I am!! Sorry to bring the subject up but has anyone else had a third of forth degree test with previous DC?

bubblybrit · 16/06/2018 10:06

@TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong and @Babybeany. Thank you xx

twiglet · 16/06/2018 10:32

I'm not sure if it's the same in England but I picked up my pregnancy pack which has a hefty book in it which says first appointment is just the mum to be after that Oh can attend. That's in Scotland anyway I know there are a few differences between NHS systems.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 16/06/2018 10:36

@bubblybrit 👋👋👋

elocwildflowerxx · 16/06/2018 10:38

@somethingfromnothing @ClaireLouise82 @Babybeany @hayley013 morning ladies! in reply i am really worried about the age gap to be honest, like one of you said she has been pestering me for a good almost 2 years now and even more so since she started school in september and most of the children in her class have siblings!

can't remember which lady said it but i also feel very worried, i really am flustered about the whole thing i just can't remember any of the pregnancy with my daughter so i'm googling every little thing like i've not done this whole thing before!

i couldn't sleep much last night either i am sooo tired but popping bubbles kept me awake until around 4am and slight waves of nausea, i don't think any of these symptoms started until around 6-7 weeks last time, worrying it's a little early to be feeling most of them, perhaps this one is going to give me trouble haha!

jeanzbeanz · 16/06/2018 10:43

I'm feeling so rotten, currently sat in front of the fire wrapped in a blanket and trying to force myself to stay awake and eat grapes. I'm only juuust six weeks - please someone tell me it doesn't get any worse than this!!
