Just done another test and it’s no darker than the one I did 2 days ago. Not sure how many DPO I am but symptoms have gone too and have low abdominal cramping.

It’s taken us 2.5 years to fall pregnant again after last M/C and looks like it’s happening all over again Sad

This baby is so wanted. Feeling very sorry for myself.

@SecretStash it’s fine, I know what @PotteringAlong is trying to say and she’s right to an extent although I’m fairly certain that I’d have calmed down considerably by the time I got to 9 months (here’s hoping!)

Going to ring the surgery when it opens, hopefully they don’t make me wait 2 weeks. Suppose I’ll have to lay it on thick to get anywhere!

No, once you get the positive pregnancy test your life is never worry free again. It's the darker side of motherhood. I think you need to talk to the GP about anxiety and perhaps getting some help for strategies to cope.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 08:05

@Teateaandmoretea perhaps you’re right?

Will mention the anxiety to him too.

OP posts:
Ninjamilo · 03/05/2018 08:06

The anxiety doesn't stop once you know for definite, and I really don't mean that to be harsh.

The worry just changes to something else. Please speak to your GP around your mental health OP x

Liz3891 · 03/05/2018 08:12

I worried when I got the second line (very much unplanned pregnancy).

I worried about whether to keep it.

I worried when I read miscarriage stats

I worried before 12 week scan that there wasn't actually a baby inside

I worried when waiting for Harmony results

I worried when I found out the sex wasn't what I preferred

Now I worry baby will have some sort of other problem.

I am NOT an anxious person and none of this is consuming worry, just thoughts (so don't worry about ME!). Just pointing out that even at 12 weeks, I'm a mother now and will always worry about the kid!

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 08:14

@Ninjamilo I had previous M/C before I had DD and I had a bleed with her too. I went for an early scan at 7+4 weeks and I was instantly relieved when I saw her little heartbeat on the screen.

MyOtherProfile · 03/05/2018 08:14

What liz said. Mine are 12 and 10 now and i worry even more. Get help for your anxiety now or it will consume you for decades.

SecretStash · 03/05/2018 08:38

For those who worried constantly you need to speak for yourselves and not assume everyone is the same.

I don’t worry. I’m very much a ‘what will be will be’ kind or person and that’s coming from having a late miscarriage recently as well.
Weirdly enough I’m usually an over worrier but in pregnancy I have to throw my hands up and admit there’s absolutely nothing I can do about this but wait.

I’m rooting for you OP, we must be about the same gestation. I’m nearing 6 weeks (if not already 6 weeks).
They suggested an early scan to me after my miscarriage but I’m not taking it. I just want to wait it out until the 12 week scan.
In my experience of my last pregnancy the 12 week scan was fine, yet I still lost the baby. So I’m probably not going to accept it as real until I feel the baby move.
So I have a long while to wait yet!

And Pottering you’re wrong. That’s exactly how pregnancy tests work.

PotteringAlong · 03/05/2018 08:51

It isn’t. The colour of the line depends on how much dye is in the test, the time you took it, how much you’d had to drink beforehand, how concentrated your urine is.

You can’t simply say they get darker the more pregnant you are or that a light line means an unviable pregnancy.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 09:44

Ok so I’ve just spoken to the doctor on the phone. She said that the tests are better for telling you that you’re pregnant as opposed to how pregnant you are, I’m a bit either way on this theory.

She has referred me to the midwives and sent off for an early scan. She said that they don’t do blood tests. In all likelyhood, she said it sounds as though I am pregnant.

Astella22 · 03/05/2018 09:50

I don’t think the last one looks any different.
I 100% understand your anxiety though it really rough when u have had a previous loss.

Tiredmum100 · 03/05/2018 09:51

Been following your thread. I really hope you manage to get a gp appointment today and some reassurance. I never knew testing and the darkness of the line was a thing to be honest until joining here. I really would stop testing at the moment as it's not really doing anything to help you and just causing more upset and anxiety. Fingers crossed all goes well for you !

GymBot · 03/05/2018 10:03

Fingers crossed Toothpaste

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 10:06

I would’ve been absolutely fine if them tests had progressed but they haven’t changed in a week now. Obviously they’re not squinters so that’s really good. They’re strongish positives. Definitely leaving them alone now though it’s in the back of my mind that they aren’t darkening.

I’ll likely get a scan appointment at my local EPU through the post or a phone call in the next couple of weeks. She did say if I’m under 6 weeks it’d be too early to see anything anyway. They couldn’t fit me in for an actual appointment until a week on Tuesday which is no good to me really

OP posts:
LaurieMarlow · 03/05/2018 10:06

That's good news OP. Step away from the tests now. Fingers crossed for you.

Scrowy · 03/05/2018 10:36

From one farmer to another please be assured that unless you have any particular concerns about toxoplasmosis in your sheep it's highly unlikely that lambing will be any kind of issue for your current pregnancy (because you ARE pregnant, you have a gazillion tests to prove that!)

Do you vaccinate for enzo and toxo? If you do then the risk to you is even further decreased?

With your DD did you ask to be screened for immunity to toxo? Despite being heavily involved with lambing sheep my entire life, including through an abortion storm or two I still don't have immunity to toxo, meaning I've never managed to pick it up despite many a hand up a sheep's foof.

For what it's worth I had a mmc with my first pregnancy. I then had DC1 and for whatever reason didn't worry about MC at all with that pregnancy, it was like I knew everything would be fine. Then with DC2 I had an intense period of worry much like you are now absolutely convinced that it would be another mc and took a bunch of tests and convinced myself the lines weren't dark enough.

I was completely wrong and DC2 pregnancy progressed absolutely fine (including through lambing time!)

Bluebirdsky · 03/05/2018 10:48

I got a positive on a cheapy test from savers a couple of days before my AF was due, however my positives never got darker or better from that day on (and I tested a lot!) I am now 31 weeks pregnant. To be honest it never occurred to me that the line should get darker I just thought it showed pregnant ot not pregnant.

steppemum · 03/05/2018 10:49

Oh OP, please stop focusing on these tests.

They are not designed to track your pregnancy progress, they are designed to tell you if you are pregnant or not.

I have been pregnant 7 times, I have had 4 MC, two very early and two much later.

Every singel pregnancy was different, with some I had zero symptons until 10 weeks plus, with some I felt odd form the beginning. With two I had a lot of bleeding that wasn't anything to worry about.
One MC was textbook perfect pregnancy until the scan. There is no match between what the pregnancy was like and whether it was a MC or a viable pregnancy.

These are not rigid scientific rules, it is you body and it varies and changes. It is perfectly normal to have no symptoms, and not even know you are pregnant in those first 8 weeks or so.

Step away from the tests, continue with daily life, unfortunately you just have to wait, very hard to do, I know, but it is true.

The only thing that helps is an early scan, as the heartbeat is so reassuring.

Flowers xx

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 16:48

Scrowy we vaccinate all shearlings going into the flocked to be tupped so every female sheep of lambing age has been jabbed as we have had problems with toxo in the past.

I honestly didn’t know you could get screened for immunity, worth knowing though so thank you! I was similar to you, very calm throughout my pregnancy with DD despite having a bleed. Pleased to hear your pregnancy with DC2 went well. Fingers crossed I’m worrying about nothing too.

Thank you all.

StillMissV · 03/05/2018 18:35

@Iswallowtoothpaste progression of tests can be an indicator of a chemical (I had one last year and had a faint positive that got lighter for two days then my period started but it was faint as hell to start with!). When I did miscarry at 12 weeks I actually carried on having DARK positives even two weeks later. So please, please don't read in to these too much. I'm 27 weeks now and my tests never really got much darker than those ones you've uploaded. As I write this I'm being booted in the gut by my unborn darling child. I understand where you are mentally - I've been there too - but honestly, step away from the tests. You are pregnant today. There is nothing to suggest you won't be pregnant tomorrow. Deep breaths and see each day as a positive.
Sending love x

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 18:47

Thank you @StillMissV, sorry to hear about your losses to and wishing you a happy and healthy final few months of pregnancy.

Hopefully mine has a similar outcome x

OP posts:
Scrowy · 03/05/2018 18:58

Yep when you go to your booking appointment and they take bloods just ask for toxo screening to be included. It will tell you one or way another if you have had toxo previously. If you have then you will be immune now.

Depending on how used to farmers your midwife is they will either do it no questions asked or they might look a bit confused but if you explain it should be fine.

Iswallowtoothpaste · 03/05/2018 19:55

Scrowy thank you for that, I’ll definitely ask them at my booking app, if I get that far!

As I’ve needed to piss on something, I saw a thread the other night which Sid that OPK’s can be used as PT.

I’ve used OPKs every day for my whole cycle and have only ever got positive results when I’m about to ovulate.

Took an OPK on Wednesday and it was a very dark positive, took another one yesterday which was an even darker positive and again today. How the fuck am I getting more progression on cheap OPK’s than expensive, branded HPT’s.

I’ve been havin more cramps today, not intense but more like period cramps than a stretchy feeling if I’m honest. Boobs have barely been sore today, which I know doesn’t mean a lot really but still a bit disconcerting.

Still no bleeding although I keep feeling as though I’ve come on.

OP posts:
putputput · 04/05/2018 12:30

Because HPTs are not designed to track progression, merely a positive or negative. OP everything is pointing to you being pregnant, re-testing daily is not doing anything to help your anxiety. Very early pregnancy is horrible, but unfortunately there's nothing to do but let your body get on with growing this baby. Can your partner help support with how you're feeling?
